Are We... The Waiting., chapter 1
Okay, so here are 5 best friends who all live in the same house. Some of them are high school dropouts, and some are going to college. they all form a gang called The Waiting. St. Jimmy is the rebel boy of them all. Jesus of Suburbia is down and depressed and yet thinks he is Jesus. Extraordinary Girl is a very talented, beautiful girl who is among a group of people who are not as all extraordinary. Whatsername was always the outcast, and everyone always forgot about her. She was always last and looked over. American Idiot is a stoner who uses whoever he can. He is basically the whole definition of a dropout.
The Waiting was a punk-rock band from Oakland, CA. They were about to be famous, although it was hard to get noticed because so many punk bands had emerged trying to replace the legends Green Day, who had been years broken up, but had remained best friends and were about to release a Greenest Hits Of The Day album. There were no places for The Waiting to play, because Gilman had been closed and the others were closed because it was overflowing with potheads. They were the next Green Day. GD was their inspiration. St. Jimmy played rythym guitar, Whatsername played bass, Jesus Of Suburbia is vocals, Extraordinary Girl played guitar and keyboard, and American Idiot played the drums. They all had a story to tell. All five of them came from broken homes.
We can start with Whatsername. Whatsername grew up in a Catholic family and had 6 brothers and sisters. She was in the middle, so she was always forgotten during holidays, and occasions. What made her really upset, her siblings were all brats and she was the only one who didn't ask for a thing, and the one who didn't get a thing. In school, she usually had no friends. She was recluse and secluded. She got so used to being the outcast, that while all her siblings were planning to become doctors and lawyers and parents, she decided to do the one thing that would make her stand out from the crowd. To drop out of high school and pursue a career with the only people who she cared about. Her family disowned her and kicked her out. She lived on the streets for a while.
St. Jimmy grew up a spoiled ass brat. He was a geeky nerd until about the 6th grade, where the miraculous happened. He learned about music and all its splendor. He never really was into it, and never knew how talented he was at it. He accidentally pushed the wrong numbers on the remote, and it landed on MTV, where they were playing "Classics", where Green Day's Holiday was on. Something clicked in his mind. After that, My Chemical Romance's I'm Not Okay came on. He had just found his new heroes. He hit his dad up for 200$ and a trip to Hot Topic, where he well spent every bit of it. The next day at school, he lost everyone of his friends, and made new ones. He was labeled a freaky goth punk. His parents disowned him, and he moved in with three high school guys named Sticky, Cheese, and Gumball. They tought him well.
The American Idiot was born to an Italian mother and a Finnish father. He was always the one making jokes. You could say he was the class clown. He had ADHD in the worst way ever. He never stopped running around. He was constantly breaking things, in a constant journey to become the next Bam Margera. His father, who was Ville Valo from HIM, encouraged him to use his energy into something like drums. He never was good at anything like he was at drums. As he grew to be a successful drummer who wasn't even in a band, he found another hobby. Smoking pot. He was great at that also. He would do anything to get more pot. He also had a drinking habit. His friends all thought he was going to get in over his head one day and breath his last, but that day never came so he was living life to the fullest extent of a high school guy.
Extraordinary Girl was an orphan whose mother and father were teenagers who, after having their baby girl, decided that they were not responsible enough to raise a child, and life was unbearable for them, so, they took each other's life. She grew up being a very talented artist. Very deep and dark, she drew and wrote poetry. No one understood her. She was always the one winning the poetry award in English class, and the one who won the award in Art class. Everyone else were just Average Joe's. She needed to be discovered. She took up guitar as a way to release some of her stress and depression.
Jesus of Suburbia comes from a small town in Alabama. He moved out of there as soon as he could. He came to Oakland in hopes to follow his mentors. He suffers from anxiety, depression, and temper problems. And yet, he has the most melodic voice and lyrics that could take you away from this earth. Music is a way that he releases himself. He just learned that his mother had passed away, and his father had married again and moved to New York City. His brother, as he likes to refer as Moses of Suburbia, is one of the road crew for My Chemical Romance, who were the biggest band in the world at the time. if only they could open up for them...
