KJ And Billie, chapter 1
my math class was in the same room as my Spanish class, which I had right before. My Spanish teacher wanted me to take something to the counselor. She would let the teacher know I would be there and things. I saw the guy I thought was cute, Chris come in, and I blushed. I was dressed in my black and blue pants from Hot Topic, my Rock Is Dead Long Live Paper and Scissors shirt, and my Converse. He was a prep. I sighed and walked out the door. As I went up the stairs, I ran into three guys, who were running down the stairs. I caught scant glimpses of them. One was blonde, one had dark hair, and there was one with dirty blonde, almost brown hair. They were laughing together, and didn't even notice me, so I thought. I just went on to the counselor's office, and thought I'd never see them again.
I came back, and got the shock of my life. The three guys from the stairs were in my class! And they were sitting by my stuff! The blondes were sitting across from me, and the guy with the dark hair was sitting beside me. I walked in, apologized for being late, and then looked over towards my desk. The dark haired one was already out of his chair, waiting for me to get in! I sat back in my chair, and got back in the position I had held during Spanish. Headphones around my neck, computer open, and listening to music. The guy beside me asked, "Whatcha listening to?"
"Ramones. I love those guys a lot."
"Hey, us too! Oh! I guess we should introduce ourselves. I'm Billie Joe Armstrong."
The one with the lighter blonde hair spoke up. "I'm Mike Dirnt."
Finally, the dirty blonde. "Tre Cool."
"Hi, I'm Kayleigh Rhoads, but my friends, and some teachers call me KJ."
"KJ?" Billie asked.
"Yeah, my dad used to call me KJ because my middle name is Jane."
"What do you mean used to? Sorry, but it caught my attention." Tre said.
"Did you hear on the news about the couple on the train?"
"The ones that were bystanders in a drug shoot-out?" Mike stated.
"Yup. That was my parents. Jane and John Rhoads."
Billie placed his hand on my shoulder, and then rubbed my back a little.
"I know how ya feel. I lost my dad when I was ten. I bet it feels awful when people call you by your dad's old petname."
"Only teachers and people who knew me then call me KJ, unless I allow them to. It's a safety thing. You guys can, if ya want. Kayleigh always seems to preppy."
I started smiling, and finally Mike smiled back.
"You're on to us, aren't you!" He laughed.
"Yup. I'm a Green Day fan. I'd know you guys anywhere."
"You're so cool and calm about it though!?" Tre was confused.
"I realize you guys are people too, just very blessed and talented people." We all grinned at that.
So class went on, and I kept them entertained. I had an old audio splitter and some old earbud headphones that Mike and Tre could share, and I shared my pair with Billie. They cracked up at how the teacher didn't even look our way while we did the same things other people were doing, and they were getting in trouble!
Finally, 2:35 rolled around, and I got packed up.
"What class do we go to now?" Tre asked.
"The class called home, unless you wanna hang out around here. Some people have an after school class. I don't, so I either go to the media tech studio, or to the cafe with my friend Kandace. She's been my friend since Junior High."
"Let's go to the cafe! We have media tech tomorrow."
"So do I! That's awesome!"
We went into the cafe with Kandy, and we had good laughs. I blasted my music, and we terrorized people on AIM. We bought coffee and hung out until 4.
"I gotta catch the bus..."
"You don't wanna ride?" Billie gave me a look I swore almost looked like,'please say yes' before he looked away and blushed.
"Sure. Where to?" We laughed as we walked out of the cafe, and out to Billie's BMW, and Tre's hummer.
Tre and Mike climbed in the Hummer, and Billie was about to get in his car, when he gave me that same look. I think he's crushin' on ME!
"Hey guys, follow me and Billie!" I yelled, and jumped in the passenger seat of the BMW. Billie smiled at me as I got in.
It was a good 15-20 minute drive, and of course there had to be traffic. It turned into a 30-40 minute drive. But neither me nor Billie seemed to mind. After a little while, he began to seem a little fidgety. His hands tensed on the wheel, and then he looked at me.
"KJ?"
"Yeah?"
"I like you. I know I've barely known you a day, but I really like you."
"Well, Billie..."
"What?" His eyes grew worrysome.
I smiled, and ran my hand across his cheek. "I like you too."
He reached over and kissed me. In the stand still traffic, it was a pretty long kiss. Only interrupted by Tre and Mike calling. It answered automatically, and on speaker.
"AW BILLIE! We see you over there! Had to snatch the pretty girl away, didn't you! Crap, dude!"
Billie shot the finger to them in a joking way, and then kissed me again.
I looked in the mirrors. They thought I was pretty! I looked at my brown hair, cut short, barely touching my chin. It was curly today, but not Shirley Temple like. My blue eyes were accented by the eyeliner and the blue in my pants. I never really thought I was that pretty.
"I think you're beautiful." Billie grabbed my hand and squeezed it slightly.
"Did you just read my thoughts!" He shrugged, and ran his fingers across my face. I smiled, and looked back towards the traffic. I knew he was staring at me, but if I looked over at him, we'd be in a wreck ourselves. We'd be doing some serious kissing. I finally did look back at him, and he tucked my hair behind my ears. He smiled at me, grabbed my hand, and kissed it. The traffic began to move, and we moved along with it. Reaching my house, we clamored in, Tre jumping over the couch. He never heeded any warning. Mike sat more easily in the recliner. Billie sat on the beanbag. I went towards the kitchen, putting my stuff on the table.
"Anyone hungry?"
"YEAH!" They all yelled at once. I decided to look around the kitchen for things to eat. There really wasn't much there at all. I sat on the kitchen counter, and sighed. Billie came over, and I wrapped my legs around him.
"Hmm, greedy, aren't we?" He placed his hands on my hips.
"When I get what I want, I can be. " I sighed again.
"What's wrong, cutie?" He kissed my forehead.
"There's nothing to cook, and I'm getting hungry."
"There aren't any good restaurants around here? A little Texas charm?" I laughed, and then got an idea. I had some money ready for going out, and what better time than this!
"How about a little bitty one. Not really fancy, but the food's good and cheap. Plus, there's a Tv!"
"Lead the way, baby, lead the way." He picked me up, told the guys to come on, and we went. I don't think the place was ready for us. Billie, Tre, Mike and I were very hungry. I had the quesadillas. Mike had chili. Tre with the chicken fried chicken, and Billie had the tamales.
"Hope you like them spicy. Tex Mex food is big on spices. And Mike, you did good. You know chili is the state food 'round here." I laughed when the food came. They weren't prepared. Billie gulped down his tea, Mike had enough crackers to build a new Saltine factory. Tre and I giggled, as we ate. After pigging out for a while, we left, and got ice creams at Sonic. The drive back to the house was happy, with 102.1 KDGE, the Dallas rock station playing. They knew some of the guys, and it was funny to hear them. Finally, we got home.
I looked over at Billie, and I saw he looked tired.
"Bet you haven't slept in a good bed in a while, huh?"
They all shook their heads. They had a hotel for right now, and we all know how hotel beds can be.
"Go to the hotel and get your stuff. I'll set up some things here, and you guys can live with me. I need the company anyways."
They all grinned, and then jumped in the Hummer, and drove to the hotel.
Coming back an hour later, I saw them running in with their stuff.
"There's four rooms upstairs, each with two big beds in it. This house used to be a boarding house. The room with the green walls is mine."
They went upstairs, and I didn't get to see the smile on Billie's face. He certainly was up to something.
I showed them where the shower was, and then I took one myself. After we were all clean, I came downstairs, and looked in the front room. There they all were, cute in their boxers and t-shirts.
"Don't we look different without our makeup." I giggled out.
Looking around, we all looked a lot younger. Billie reached for my hand.
"Good movie on. Let's watch it."
I nodded, and sat down next to him, putting my head on his shoulder. He kissed my forehead, and shot a look at the boys, like, "Look what I got." I smiled, I knew what was going on behind my back. I had seen this movie a million times. I pretty much knew every word. My eyelids got really heavy. Last thing I remembered, Billie said something about too many commercials.
I woke up, and my head was in Billie's lap. I shifted, and he looked down to see me. Brushing my hair out of my eyes, and tracing my face with his fingers, he smiled.
"You went to sleep, and I didn't have the heart to wake you."
Looking around, he was the only one up. I looked at the clock. Only 11. We must have been tired. I sat up, sitting in his lap, and put my head on his chest. He picked my chin up, and kissed me. Little pecks back and forth on the lips. I knew he wanted more, I was just going to make him wait, and sweat it out. His tongue licked my lips. He wanted in. I opened my mouth, just barely, but that was enough for him. We began to make out, big time. By the time we even came up for air, it was 11:20. I turned off the TV.
"We should go to bed."
We woke up the guys, and they straggled into their rooms. I went into mine, and I looked a little confused.
"Hey roomie." Billie.
I smiled, thinking of my own little idea.
"You know what. I need a teddybear."
"What?"
"I don't like to sleep alone, I need a teddy bear. I'll be back, I gotta go get one. I lef..."
"Shh..." He came over to my bed and sat down.
"Put a string around my neck..." He began to sing the old Elvis song. I laughed, and crawled under the covers. He snuggled really close to me, and sooner than I thought, I felt him go to sleep. His arms around me, my head on his chest. Life was perfect.
I came back, and got the shock of my life. The three guys from the stairs were in my class! And they were sitting by my stuff!
