KJ And Billie, chapter 11

This is the biggest day of my life, and I'm sitting on the toilet. Oh hi, Tre here. It's my wedding day, and my stomach hurts worse than it did that day I tried to go vegetarian with Mike and Billie Joe! I've been here hiding out since like ten minutes ago, scared I'm gonna puke all over my tuxedo! I don't get it. I wasn't this nervous when I asked Allie to marry me the night before Billie Joe's 18th birthday. Why am I so nervous now!?
"TRE!" Ugh there's Billie Joe now...
"What?!"
"Are you constipated or something?" He asks with a very cool mocking voice. He forgets, he's been through this before. His wedding was beautiful, out there on the Hawaii coast. We were getting married in SonRise Fellowship, the church all the girls have gone to most their lives.
"No, but my stomach sure does hurt."
"It's fright. Now come out here, cause I know you don't have your tie on straight." I laughed, and came out to meet him. He looked so cool in his long tuxedo jacket with the vest and everything being black but the white tie. Mike was dressed the same way, actually, so was I! Ha! Imagine that. Matching at a wedding. Well, anyways. He helps me fix my tie, and then goes back to fixing his hair.
"If you play with that hair any more Billie Joe, it's gonna fall out! I dare not think you wanna lose your hair here in September, when it's about to get cold, do you?" He nudged me in the side before handing me a little box with a red bow on top. I opened it, and inside were two Tylenol, a breathmint, and silver cufflinks.
"Thanks Billie Joe." He smiled, and I hugged him. He pretty much was my brother, and families do that. Mike came in, and the dork actually was brushing his teeth.
"What! I had broccoli for lunch, and don't want any in my teeth!"
"He's getting married at night, by candlelight. Do you really think they're gonna notice?!" Billie Joe was clownin' on Mike. Yes, I said clownin'. I'm down, word. Okay, so I'm not, but I'm allowed to say it, since I was almost in clown college. So we waited for Mike to attack his chompers, and then made our way into the sanctuary. Now let me explain this to you. This isn't your big chapel the Pope goes to or anything. SonRise Fellowship is about as small and rinky dink as it gets. I once, okay, before I really started attending it, called it the halfway house of the church realm. I think the sanctuary holds maybe 1,000 people, even though there are only about 50-100 regulars. Not even that most of the time. The children and youth rule there, they make up 30 of the regular 50. They started one Easter Sunday, with about 25 people in a little bitty building on folding chairs with a projector. Now they were a little more churchy, but not much. The worship leader, who would be singing some of the songs tonight, has an eyebrow ring, wears a chain wallet, and listens to ... US! and people like us for inspiration. They don't have hymnals, they have a projector and know how to clap. Oh I love the baptists! We met Vernon, the youth pastor who married Billie Joe and KJ, and Bruce, the real pastor in the sanctuary.
"Where's the wives gentlemen?" I couldn't help but act like an Englishman, seeing as I felt strikingly dapper in my topcoat.
"Karen's helping Allie and Sam get ready."
"And Pam's prolly chasing down Kayleigh for her to get ready and stop playing with the kids!" We all laughed, remembering how KJ loves to play with the kids. Speak of the devil, here she came not even in her dress, but still in overalls! And right behind her came eleven year old Nicole, Vernon's daughter and Kayleigh's shadow, Vernon's son Ryan, 6, and the ringbearer and flower girl at her own wedding, 3 year olds Zoe and Ethan.
"Kayleigh!" Billie Joe whined, well, he sounded like he did. She looks up, they all stop, and she goes...
"Whoopsie. Come on kids. I'll set ya up and then I gotta go get ready!" And they run like lightning out the door again. For a maid of honor, she sure isn't the most prepared one! Amy was in North Carolina with Alex, so it was just gonna be us for the wedding. Well, Jason too, and his girlfriend Marissa. We sat on the stage, talking about nothing and everything all at once. Haha. Way to use Billie Joe's lyrics.
Twenty minutes later....
We're standing in order, Vernon, myself, Billie Joe, Mike, and Jason all in a line. Bruce was sitting down. Unlike Kayleigh's wedding, he didn't have to walk the bride down the aisle, her dad was still alive. I see her little sister Zoe, not the three year old, but this 13 year old, coming down as the flowergirl. Next comes her cousin James as the ringbearer. He was there when I proposed to her. Finally, the moments I was waiting for. I remembered standing where Mike was when Billie Joe got married. It was crazy to look down the aisle and see someone for the last time as your girlfriend, and know she's leaving as your wife! First came Marissa, then Sam, then KJ, actually in a dress, though it seemed she wasn't enjoying it very much, and then the beautiful bride, being escorted by her dad.
"Who gives this woman to be married?"
"I do." Little Ethan spoke for her. We all laughed, and then her dad said,
"Actually, her family and I do." He kissed her cheek, and then she walked up to me. Her big brown eyes were brimmed with tears of joy, her dirty blonde hair tied in a simple ponytail. My princess. It took a little over ten minutes, and we were now officially Mr. and Mrs. Tre Cool, otherwise known as Mr. and Mrs. Frank Edwin Wright the Third. I wonder if I have to write that on the marriage liscence? I hope not. My fingers and hands are made for drumming, not for writing crazy things like that! We ran to take pictures, and those were the best ever! The serious ones out of the way, my favorites finally came. Some weren't even planned, like KJ holding her overalls, sticking her tongue out at Allie, who's sticking her tongue out at KJ for running to change! But she had to admit, it was a hot day for September, and the bridesmaid dresses were really hot. And as far as us guyses (yes, I said guys-es... there's more than one of us guys!), I unbuttoned a couple buttons of my shirt, Billie Joe grabbed a cane and a pimp hat, and Mike pulled up his collar, and buttoned up his jacket. We were the most pimptastic trio ever! You dig? HA! Anyways, we decided to have the reception someplace cheap.I decided on the restaurant On The Border, since it was the place I took Allie on our first date to the carnival. So we rented out the place, and they served tamales and quesadillas, and we even let them have time to sit and relax. Those poor people never have the time to settle for a minute, or seventy. We opened presents, and of course, people had to be crazy, and buy a present for me, and then a present for Allie, and then a present as a couple. Oh well. Kayleigh got me this awesome suit, since I really didn't have a good one. She got Allie a dress that she had wanted for forever and a day. I was with her when she bought it! There were a lot of gifts from a lot of people, needless to say. I got a lot of stuff for my drums. Allie got a lot of gift cards and stuff, since we weren't gonna stay living with Billie Joe and KJ. I thought we could, but considering the fact one day we'll have families??? It's too huge for two married couples and Mike to be living. Poor Sammie. I know he wants to propose, but he's too scared to. Anxiety, just like Billie Joe. You would think they were brothers, and not just best friends! I took Allie by the hand, and we danced for hours under the candlelight in the restaurant. After that, I took her home, as almost barren as it was, and we sat on our couch.
"I can't wait til' we're sitting here with a little baby."
"You don't waste any time, do you Allysen?"
"No, not really Tre." She smiles, and leans over to kiss me. This woman has such a hold on me! I pull her hair out of it's ponytail, as she shrugs off my jacket. The rest, is like KC and the Sunshine Band says...
Do a little dance... make a little love... get down tonight oooOOOoooo Get Down Tonight!
