KJ And Billie, chapter 2
The next morning, I woke up, and I was alone. Could it really had been a whole dream? I rolled over, and saw the dent in the pillow. Was that from Billie Joe? Did I just spend the last day pretty much in his arms? Or was I just such a ditz, I didn't think about it! My thoughts were ended when Billie came out from the bathroom, fully dressed, except for his shoes, and his red tie of course.
He sits on the bed, as I try and feign sleep. Leaning over to me, he whispers,
"You were great last night. Never done some of that stuff before."
I shot awake.
"WHAT!"
"Mornin' sunshine. Saw you were up. Gotcha." He laughed. I smelled the cologne he was wearing, mixed with the gel in his hair, and the toothpaste he used. I loved it.
"What time is it?"
"5:45."
"NO WAY!" I rolled over, and put the pillow over my face. School didn't start until 7:35, and I wasn't planning on getting up on bus time!
"TRE! MIKE! She thinks we can't get her up this early!" He laughed.
I ended up minutes later on the floor gasping for air after being tickled out of my bed. Tre was in pants and no shirt, Mike still in boxers and a t-shirt.
"You win! You win!" I clamored to my feet, running towards my closet.
"Tell you what Leigh," Tre had taken to calling me Leigh, "We'll make breakfast, and you get ready."
"Better yet. Let me get ready, and we'll stop and get something at McDonalds." I was such a junk food junkie.
"You haven't had breakfast, least a good one, in a while, have you?" Billie looked at me, concerned, at the same time joking, using my question from last night.
I shook my head.
"Then it's us to the rescue!" And they all ran out, to finish getting ready, and then to make breakfast.
I climbed into my Old Navy jeans, and my blue striped button down. I had to do a segment today, so I needed to look good. I put my hair back in little pigtails, and it curled around my face. A little Lip Smackers,Martian Marshmallow, and a little eyeliner. A blue tie, to match Billie's, finished it off, and my Skecher boots. I brushed my teeth, re-applying the Lip Smackers, it was my favorite flavor, and then ran downstairs.
"Whoa! Major cleanup!" Tre fell over in dramatics, looking at me.
"What did you spill, Tre! I'm gonna kill you if it was the egg..." Mike stopped dead in his tracks when he looked over at me.
Billie came in the room, after putting on his shoes. "What's the yellin... Kayleigh, sweetie!" A smile lit his face up, as he came over and looked me up and down.
"I have a segment today in Media Tech. I hate to look bad on camera."
Mike started to laugh. "Billie, let's keep pants on, and drool in mouth, please."
Billie gave him the look, and then looked over at me.
"Am I gonna have to break the boys hearts today, and tell them you're mine?" He laughed, as he put his arms around me.
"If you want. But what am I gonna tell the girls about you!"
"Send them to us!" The guys screamed.
"Let's talk about love after we eat, shall we?" as I reached for a donut. Tre smacked my hand with his spatula.
"Nope. It's almost ready."
I sighed, rubbing my hand as I sat in the front room. My eyes glazed over as I went from news to news. I hated to watch early in the morning. It was all about who had died the night before. I finally settled on some early morning cartoons. By the time Road Runner got the coyote for the billionth time, breakfast was ready. The time, 6:15. The food; scrambled eggs, sausage, cheddar cheese and hash browns squashed between a bagel. There were sweet bagels beside those, and glasses set in front of milk and apple juice. I settled on the bagel sandwich, and packed some of the other bagels up for later. I gulped down my juice, and then Billie spoke up.
"Come on, we gotta get ready to go."
We drive to school, and I look at the clock. 7:10. I see my friends getting off the bus at the same time. I see my buddy/big brother Jeff walking towards me.
"Jeff!"
"KJ!"
He scoops me up off the ground, seeing as he's like 6'5, and I'm only 5'3. After twirling me around a few times, he sets me down, and I look over at Billie. He looked a little abandoned, and the guys had funny looks on their faces.
"Jeff, I want you to meet some people. This is Tre, Mike, and my boyfriend, Billie Joe. You can call him Billie though."
"Umm, aren't they the guys from Green Day?"
"Yeah? So?"
"Hmm? Oh nothing, just wondering," he said mockingly. I knew he was dying inside.
I hugged him goodbye, and went into the studio. Dean and Brendan were already getting things cleaned up and stuff.
"Hey guys."
"No llamas." Brendan said flatly.
I looked at him, and said, "They're not llamas, they're classmates, Brendan."
"Will someone tell me what a llama is?" Tre wanted to know, it was making him laugh.
"Llama is a word we use when there's people in here that don't belong. Sorry. We didn't know you weren't llamas." Dean piped up.
"I'm Dean Wilson. This here, is Brendan Marshall."
"Billie Joe Armstrong." Billie looked over at Mike and Tre, "Mike Dirnt, Tre Cool."
"Janie, you sure are lookin' pretty today." Brendan said.
"Brendan, how many times do I have to tell you, I don't like you calling me Janie."
"Sure ya do. How's about me and you stayin' after today?" He could be such a pig sometimes.
"Lay off, Brendan." Billie Joe took my hand, interlacing his fingers with mine. Brendan didn't see though.
"Who are you, newbie?"
"Her boyfriend, that's who. Her name's Kayleigh, and I'm surprised it isn't Ms. Rhoads to you."
We walked out, and back in the classroom.
"I'm surprised you said Rhoads. I swore you were gonna say Mrs. Armstrong!" Tre giggled.
We snickered at that, and I heard Billie whisper under his breath, "Maybe one day..."
"What, babe?" I played with his tie a little.
"Oh, me? Nothing, nothing at all." He smiled, and put his hand around my waist, hanging on to my belt loops.
I walked them to their classes. Tre and Mike had P.E. and Billie had history. I walked to sociology, and couldn't wait to go to Media Tech.
