A New Start, chapter 4

Roxi could not believe what she just heard. Her mother had slept with a man she barely even knew. And after almost only 2 months the man she has been married to for a very long time, passed away.
"Wh... What?" Roxi forced out of her.
"Roxi, you have to understand. This is all very complicated." Roxi's mom reached out a hand to put on her shoulder, but Roxi shrugged it away.
"But why... Would you do that?" Roxi asked. Roxi's mom took a deep breath, held it, then let it go.
"First, let me just explain all of this mess. The reason why we had to go to Oregon was because your father and I used to live there. Your father used to work for a very powerful person and we got all this money as a bribe for us to go back and work for her. But I can't do that. I am not welcome back in Oregon and I would be watched so closely if I was to go back there. See, your father would stay at work extra late sometimes and he and his boss, Trixxi, would go to some hotel and..." Roxi's mom wiped away a tear seeking out. "Well, one night when I caught her and your father together, I tackled her to the ground and broke her arms and a leg." Now Roxi was a little afraid of her.
"But when I was charged for assault, your father and I fled the state. The only reason why we were still together was because I was pregnant, with you." With every word she said, it sounded like she slowed down her words.
"But, why did you-"
"The reason why I slept with David, that man, was because I needed to keep him from telling anyone about us."
Roxi slumped back into her seat and stared out the window, amazed. She had lived on this earth for almost 21 years and her parents have been hiding all this from her for that long. She couldn't believe this, at all.
But just then, Roxi noticed a building out her window. From what she was taught buy her mom, this was the airport.
"Now, listen roxi, I'm going to give you some of the money. Hold on to it and stay close to me."
Roxi was still to dazed to understand what her mother said, so she just took the money, got out of the cab and looked at all the people around the building. She followed her mom and thought about her what her new life would be like. She would be stuck with her mom in a, probably, small house, have to go to a school filled with millions of people she didn't know, and have to try and hide away from any police or anyone who would catch them.
She was not happy about living with her mom any more. Just to many lies. Before, Roxi would never think of disobeying her mom, but she had decided that she wanted to discover this new life, by herself. When Roxi first saw a restroom sign she asked her mom if she could quickly go to the bathroom.
"Yes, thats fine honey. Just hurry back soon, our plain will be leaving any minute."
Roxi couldn't believe how easy this was, so she skipped the bathroom and hopped on the first plain to anywhere. Soon, she was off to start her new life.
