Into destination unknown, chapter 1

I slowly open my eyes when my mobile phone literally blasts out the melody of when I come around. I turn the alarm off, stretch my arms and yawn. It's 7 a. M. Wednesday morning. Middle of September. It's still dark around me. I get up from my bed then slowly and carefully make my way to the other side of my room and switch the lights on. As the light reveals my small room, I mouth "good morning" to my dear Green Day posters. I smile to myself and make my bed.

I pick my clothes from the floor and pull them on. Black pantyhose, dark brown velvety skirt that goes just beneath my knees and has small fringes at the edge, and a pine green boat-necked shirt. I pack my school bag, what I was too tired to do last night.

I step out of my room to the dark hallway and switch the lights on. I walk to the bathroom and look myself from the mirror. Same 16 years old Viivi looks at me as she did yesterday, the day before that, and the day before that. I sigh and grab my eyeliner from the cupboard. I put some on, comb my pretty long blonde hair and put a light pink flower-ornament just above my left ear.

I walk to the kitchen and turn the lights on there as well. It's already 7:30 and I should be going to school. My 12 years old brother should be already up and leaving too, but he's still sleeping like a baby. I maybe should wake him up but I just leave it. Why bother? I don't care if he's late from school.

I pull my jacket on and take my backpack and mp3-player. I get outside and turn the player on, Christie Road. I start walking a dark and quiet alley, humming quietly the melody of Christie Road. I walk past nice houses and a small pond where an old lady is feeding some ducks. In about 15 minutes I arrive to the school yard. I walk past junior-high and a day-care. Little kids are running around; playing and laughing. Where do they get that energy for that? Jeez, it's only 7:50 a. M.

Finally I arrive to the high-school doors and step inside, to be greeted by the happy looking faces of my friends.
