The Thanksgiving Miracle, chapter 1
"Billie! Get your ass in here," yelled Mike from the kitchen. Billie got up from the couch that he had been sitting on for the past 2 hours and walked into the kitchen. "What do you want?" asked Billie. "The least thing you could do is get your lazy ass off the couch and help out with the cooking? Do you really think Adie would want you sitting around on Thanksgiving? I think not." Said Mike as he looked away from making a yummy thanksgiving dinner. "God Mike, why do you have to bring up Adie? I miss her so fucking much," said Billie, as he scratched his head. Mike stopped what he was doing and walked over to the table Billie was sitting at and said, "I know you miss her man, but it wasn't her fault she wanted to go to Minnesota, with the kids, to see her family." Billie sighed, "I am her family." Billie got up from the table, "I'll be back in a few." As he walked out of the front door and starting walking down the street.
Billie thinking: What the fuck is my problem? All I want is Adie and the kids to be here and I'm taking it out all on Mike. Ahh fuck.
Billie stopped at this old record store while he was walking and found this awesome vinyl by The Clash, one of his favorite bands. "Ahh I gotta get this!" Billie walked up to the cashier and put the record on the counter. "Is this it?" said the little girl who looked about 14. "Yes" Billie replied. "The Clash, what an awesome band huh?" said the girl. "Yeah" Billie said. "Your total comes to $20. 00," said the girl, whose nametag said Chelsea. Billie handed Chelsea the $20. 00 bill and walked out. "Bye, Happy Thanksgiving!" said Chelsea. Billie didn't give a rats butt that he was being as rude as Tre was on the night he was as drunk as skunk, all Billie could think about was Adie. The way she looked, the way she smelled, and the way she smiled at Billie's useless humor. "Ugh" Billie sighed.
Billie walked into Mike's house with a frown on his face. "What's the matter?" Tre said. Having no clue at all that Adrienne and the kids are miles away probably having a blast, not even thinking about the pain Billie was having. Mike slapped Tre on the arm. "You asshole." Tre got a confused look on his face as he shrugged and walked into the living room to watch some Thanksgiving football on the TV.
Billie was about to sit down when his cell phone rang, and holy crap you should have seen how fast he answered it! :)
"Hello?" Billie said into the phone.
"Hey honey," replied by Adie, in the voice Billie has been wanting to hear all day long.
"How is your thanksgiving going?" She asked. Billie didn't want to lie to Adie, but he sure as hell didn't want her to know how much he missed her, and that he was wrong about staying here in Berkeley.
"Good" Billie said in a quiet voice.
"The kids and I miss you very much."
" I miss you too." After a long pause and some loud breathing...
"Well I'm gonna go help out with some of the cooking. Tell Mike and Tre I said hi and Happy Thanksgiving." Adie said.
Billie sighed, "Ok, I will. I love you."
"Love you too" and she hung up.
Billie sighed and put his phone in his pocket. "You miss her don't you?" Tre said out of nowhere. "Like hell." Billie replied with a smirk on his face.
