Jemma nodded.
"Yes, yes, Billie Joe," she answered. Billie shot up and kissed her before slipping the ring onto her finger and smiling at her happily. They continued to the front, beside Tre and Jess. The music was stopped and the minister stood at the front, facing the couples.
"We are gathered here today to witness the coming together of two couples that love each other in life and death."
"Who gives Jemma Gibbs away?"
"I do," Mike shouted loudly. Billie beamed and smiled from Mike, who had sat down, to Jem.
"Who gives Jessica Roche away?"
"I do," David answered, before going to sit down beside Dawn, Jess's mother.
"These men and women have dedicated their desire to live together as man and wife. It is their common bond of the mind, heart, body, and soul that sealed this desire, this need. Despite personal relationships of the past and those yet to come, they are devoted to one another, just as the sun is devoted to the day and the moon to night," the justice announced. Jess and Tre stood stone still, holding hands, nervous to the bone.
The justice turned to them as the first couple.
"Frank Edwin Wright III," he began, "Do you promise to love this woman, to honour and respect her, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
Tre faced Jess, taking both her hands in his. "I do," he replied, watching a happy tear drip from her eye under the veil. His own began to water in his eyes.
The Justice turned to Jess, "Jessica Eileen Roche..." the same question followed.
"I do," Jess replied, still staring into Tre's eyes.
The justice moved to Billie Joe and Jem.
"Billie Joe Armstrong, do you promise to love this woman, to honour and respect her, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
"I do," he replied, his eyes focused on Jem's.
The same questions was asked to Jem. "I do," she said, without thinking.
"We will now witness the exchanging of the rings," the minister announced. Mike stood up again, next to Tre, and produced the rings and handed them to the minister.
"This ring is a circle, which is neverending. It is a symbol of your love that you shall go on and on forever. Frank, take this ring and repeat after me." The blue eyed drummer nodded and took the ring.
"Jessica, this ring is a symbol of my neverending love for you."
"Jess, this ring is a symbol of my neverending love for you."
"With this ring, I thee wed."
"With this ring, I thee wed," Tre said, whilst sliding the ring onto Jess's finger.
The minister gave the other ring to Jess and the same procedure followed.
Once their rings had been exchanged, Mike appeared with two more rings and the minister turned to Billie Joe.
"Jem, this ring is a symbol of my neverending love for you," Billie said to Jem, "With this ring, I thee wed," and he slipped the ring onto Jem's finger.
It was her turn.
"Jemma, take this ring and repeat after me. Billie Joe, take this ring as a symbol of my neverending love for you."
Jem repeated the infamous line and slid the gold band onto Billie's finger.
"At this moment in time, I wish to know if anyone believes of any reason why these two couples should not be joined in matrimony. Speak now or forever hold your peace."
For a second, Billie Joe feared his boys would speak up or Adrienne would burst down the door and stop the wedding, but nothing happened, no one spoke up.
"Very well, by the powers invested in me, by the state of California, I pronounce you both man and wife. You may kiss the -"
Tre didn't wait, he couldn't, he threw the white veil over Jess's head and kissed her, taking her in his arms. Jess giggled into the kiss, but reached her arms up around his neck. The justice laughed and looked back to Billie and Jem.
"You may now kiss the bride," he said.
Billie dove in to kiss Jem, the absence of a veil came in useful.
Wolf whistles, claps, cheers, and general applause met their ears and finally the couples broke for air.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Mr. and Mrs. Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong," the Minister declared.
Tre kissed Jess again. Billie watched them before moving in on Jem again, treating her to a very passionate snog that was deep and meaningful.
