I Can't Wait For The Day, chapter 7
[Judy's POV]
Shit, it's 7:30 and I'm running out the door so I can catch the bus to Gilman. Thankfully I get to the stop just before it does, so I get on it and sit down beside some guy with a couple tattoos and short messy blue hair.
"Hey, what's up?" he asks me as if we've known each other our entire lives.
"Nothing really, going to Gilman to see a show."
"Hey, sweet, I'm going there too. Can't wait to see Sweet Children, kind of poppy but they seem to have gotten my friend Adie hooked."
"That's neat. My friend is in one of the bands that's playing but I don't remember him telling me the name of them. He probably did and I just forgot. Oh well. My name's Judy" I say.
"Joel." he introduces himself.
We sit there for a while longer talking about music and our favorite bands. i wonder if Joel knows Billie?
"Here's our stop." he says. We get off and go into the building. There's graffiti all over the walls but other than that, the place isn't bad.
As soon as we enter the place I feel someone jump on my back from behind. Ow. I can almost automatically tell who it is.
"Tre, stop, you're hurting me!" I laugh.
I turn around and see Tre with a huge smile on his face.
"Hi Judy!! Billie and Mike are backstage doing some last minute practicing, they're gonna be on in five. Is Mona here?"
"Sorry Tre, she had an important family thing, but she really wishes she could be here. I think she likes you."
I laugh as Tre jumps for joy. Then he runs around for a bit and I try to shove my way to the front of the crowd to see the stage. Just when I force my way through I see Billie walk onto the stage. He sees me and he smiles. Then they immediatly start playing a song that he introduces as "Why Do You Want Him?".
They play about eight songs, each one better than the last. After the last song, a song Billie called "409 In Your Coffeemaker", Mike and John leave the stage and Billie grabs a chair from the side. He starts strumming his guitar and says quietly,
"This one's for you, Jude"
Late last night I had a dream
And she was in it again
She and I were in the sky
Flying hand in hand
I woke up in a cold sweat
Wishing she was by my side
Praying that she'll dry tears
Left on my face I've cried
Oh I love her
Keep dreaming of her
Will I understand
If she wants to be my friend
I'll send a letter to that girl
Asking her to by my own
But my pen is writing wrong
So I'll say it in a song
Oh I love you more right now
More than I've ever loved before
Here's those words straight from these lips
I'll need you forever more.
Come ease the pain that's in my heart...
Come ease the pain that's in my heart...
Come ease the pain that's in my heart...
Come ease the pain that's in my heart...
Oh my god. This is not happening.
[Billie's POV]
I see the shocked look on Judy's face and I run off the stage. Why did I do that? It was stupid. She hates me. She doesn't love me the way I love her. Why did I have to embarass myself in front of so many people? I sit on the couch backstage hoping no one comes and sees me like this. My hopes die when I hear a knock on the door.
"BJ, I know you're in there, can you let me in? It's just me," Tre says. I open the door and I see that Tre had tricked me and brought Judy with him. Fuck! She's going to hate me. It's silent for a while, then Tre speaks up.
"I think I'm going to go find Mike, uh, so.. bye." he says, leaving the room and shutting the door leaving us all alone.
Silence.
"Billie, I-"
"It's okay," I cut her off, "I'm sorry. You don't have to feel the same way. I guess I just wanted to see if you did, and it's no good anymore. None of it. You probably won't want to be my friend anymore after tonight. It's okay, I understand."
I get up to leave but she grabs my arm and won't let go.
"But Billie," she says. "I do feel the same way"
