Billie's Forgotten Daughter, chapter 13
Or is it?
Well, I lied. Actually, it was at the end of December 2005 that Green Day released their new album. Then they went on to win five Grammy's in February 2006. But there was a problem. "We've had nine months to figure this out!" Mike yelled.
"I know it's my fault. Sorry," Billie replied miserably.
"You're darn right it's your fault!"
"Maybe 'The Network' can open for us," Billie said making quote signs with his fingers.
"Are you crazy?! Do you know how many nights we would have to play two times?! That's double the number of songs we usually play!"
"Well, what do you suggest we do Mike? It's too late to book anyone to open for us."
"I don't know, but I'm NOT going to play twice in one night for the whole tour!"
Elisa walked in the room. "Hey dad, Mike. What's up?" Elisa asked.
"Hey girl, we're just having a problem with our tour," Billie said.
"You're not going to cancel are you?!"
"Well, no, not yet," Billie said.
Billie looked at Mike who had now crossed his arms and was now trying really hard not to make eye contact with Billie. "It's just that I forgot to book a band to open for us."
"Really?" she asked.
"Yep."
"So that means, you just haven't FOUND anyone right?"
"Kind of. See, we go on tour next week. Deals with bigger bands take more planning than just a couple of days," Billie explained.
"So get an underground band."
"We tried that, but no one has replied to our request."
"That's odd. I thought people would be bending over backwards to play with Green Day."
"Yeah I thought so too," Billie said, "Although, SOME people didn't think so."
Billie looked at Mike again who was still not looking at him. "Fine Mike, you were right. I should have done this earlier."
"Well, looks like someone has finally seen the light," Mike said.
Billie rolled his eyes.
Then Elisa had a light bulb go off in her head.
"Hey! I have an idea."
