Billie's Forgotten Daughter, chapter 7

The doctor was in their room when he got there. In order to not disturb the doctor, Billie stayed outside and tried to calm himself as he watched through the window, but he couldn't.

They were motionless, and the only sign of life they showed was the heart monitor beeping steadily. Billie sat on the ground and brought his legs in so that his knees touched his chin. He crossed his arms on top of them and put his head down.

Tears streamed from his eyes, and for the first time, he felt like a little boy again, like he did when his dad died. 'Why am I crying?' Billie Joe thought, 'They aren't dead... yet'.

The doctor came out of the room, and Billie quickly wiped the tears from his face and stood up.
"How are they?"

"I'm afraid not so good. They are both in a coma, the girl has two broken ribs, and the lady has a broken leg, but both suffered severe trauma to the head. It's a miracle they have survived this long."
"May I go in?"
"Only if you are direct family."
"I do believe I am."
"Then go right on in."

Billie walked straight to Adrienne and took her hand. He was worried about the girl, but more so Adrienne for she had been the love of his life.

"I'm so sorry Adie," Billie said as he stroked her hand.
