An Everlasting Friendship And Undying Love, chapter 5
-Meanwhile-
"Yess!" Janice closed her assignment book with a smile of triumph on her face.
"You finished your homework, huh?"
"That's right, Kim! It was really easy!"
"I told you studying would pay off. Now where's my fifty grand?" Kimber and Janice laughed at Kimber's joke as they hugged each other.
"I'm so glad you're my sister."
"Ditto."
Suddenly, small tapping sounds came from the window. Sounded like pebbles being thrown. Janice looked out her window and saw a figure standing on her lawn throwing pebbles and signaling her.
"Kimber, pass me a flash light." Janice shone the flashlight over the figure. It was Tre.
"Hey! Janice? Can I come in?" Tre said quietly, not wanting to wake up anyone else in the household. "Tre? What are you doing here?"
"I came... To apologize... "
**
"So, Tre Cool, is it?" Kimber offered Tre a glass of water and sat down in the chair not far from the sofa Tre and her sister were sitting on.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Call me Kimber. I'm not Janice's mom so you don't need to be so formal."
"Umm... Where IS uh...."
"Our mom's working again. On a business trip in Ohio."
"That's right, Janice. And oh, by the way, if you want to drop by next time when our mom's around you call her Cherri."
"Cherri... That is a nice name... "
Kimber and Tre were giggling like little children as they talked. Janice was confused: 'what? 'Next time'? How can there be a next time?! KIMBER! ' Janice was quiet when her elder sister was getting to know Tre.
"Actually, Kimber, I came to see your sister."
"Oh... What about?"
"Well, I-I was one of the bullies that well, almost abused your sister. And now I'm here to plead for her forgiveness."
"What?!" Janice was startled. Kimber just watched in surprise as she saw Tre go down to his knees. Janice's jaw dropped when Tre came down from his seat and faced her.
"Tre?! What are you doing?! Get up now! Please!" Janice was blushing furiously while Kimber giggled in excitement. Tre looked deep into Janice's clear brown eyes. Janice bit her lip as Tre spoke.
"Janice, I-I'm sorry I almost abused you today. I'm sorry for tackling you today and-and being a part of Billie Joe's bully-freshmen frenzy. I'm really, really sorry and now I want to apologize and hope you except my apology."
"Wh-What? Tre, get up!" Janice tried to hoist Tre up from his kneeling position. Her face was as red as a cherry while Kimber was just wooing at the scene.
"No! I'm not getting up. I'm not leaving. And you're not going anywhere either!" Tre grabbed Janice's waist and pulled her back into her sitting position. Tre gripped onto her, making sure she won't be going anywhere.
"Tre!"
"Janice... Please... "
"Okay! Okay! I forgive you!"
"Thank you." Tre jumped from his position and hugged Janice.
"Hey! Hey! There's another person in this room." Kimber looked at both of them with a huge grin on her face. Tre jumped back when he realized what he was doing. The two blushed as the room fell silent. Tre and Janice were staring at the floor while Kimber was grinning while beaming at her younger sister and newfound friend blushing.
"Well... Um... It's getting late... I should go... Bye."
"Bye Tre." Kimber waved. Janice silently murmured " Bye... "
Tre, even standing at her door way could hear Janice's soft little voice. "Good night, Jan. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yess!" Janice closed her assignment book with a smile of triumph on her face.
