Mislead Accusations, chapter 5
‘Mate, was there someone else in that room with you?’, Mike asked, Billie seriously.
‘No, just Steph and I’, Billie replied. He dropped his eyes down to the ground, trying not to create any eye contact with Mike as he knew he would have to give in and say everything. Mike could tell he was nervous.
‘Billie, if there was just tell me’, Mike told him trying to get anything out of his friend. Billie shook his head slightly and looked up at Mike.
‘Mike, it was only the two of us in there’, Billie told him innocently.
‘Well people are saying they saw you walk in with another person’, Mike told him, ‘Is this true?’.
‘No Mikey come on, I wouldn’t do that to your sister, I wouldn’t do that to you’, Billie lashed back.
‘Okay dude, just relax, but if there was something else that happened I want you to tell me. You know how protective I am of Steph, I don’t want her being hurt’, Mike told him sternly.
‘Listen Mike, you know how I feel about Steph. I wouldn’t hurt her, I don’t want to hurt her and I never will’, Billie told him, trying to end the conversation.
‘Alright, just don’t hurt her please?’, Mike asked him. He really was worried about the whole subject.
‘Yeah I promise I wont’, Billie told him, ‘Hey Mikey, could you tell Steph that I’ve left, if she wakes up, cos if I go back in there I wont be leaving anytime soon’. Mike agreed to what Billie had said and the two friends bided eachother goodnight before they departed eachothers presence.
-TWO WEEKS LATER- [during band practise]
‘Billie, don’t be like this’, Steph told him, moving away from him, as if it was a game.
‘Awe, Stephie just one kiss’, he told her, trying to catch her. Steph squealed and started giggling every time Billie eventually caught her.
‘See it wasn’t that bad was it’, he told her, smiling innocently to her. Steph would smile back and the two would continue going on with their childish game. No-one really took any notice off it apart from Tre, but Billie guessed this was because of the previous ‘moments’ that had happened. Steph started to think about the phone call she had received a few days ago, about her best friend committing suicide. Tears started to come to her eyes.
‘Stephie are you alright?’, Billie asked, giving her a hug. He was all warm and cuddly and Steph nestled her head into his chest.
‘Yeah, just thinking about stuff’, she told him, wiping, her tears away.
‘You have to stop thinking about it. I know you two were really close but, you cant bring yourself down about it. It wasn’t your fault’, he told her, bringing her in even closer.
‘I know but I cant help it Billie’, she told him, ‘What if other people start leaving me as well’.
‘Steph they wont’, he comforted her, flicking her hair behind her collar.
‘You wont will you?’, she asked, burying her head into him even more, than she had before.
‘No. I never would and I never will. You can trust me, I’ll be here for you always’, he told her, rubbing her back gently to calm her down. Eventually her breathing pattern fixed up and the tears stopped running.
Steph gave Billie one last real kiss, before they broke apart she got up. She wiped the smudged eyeliner from her eyes and looked down at Billie, now sitting alone.
‘Why are you leaving, my princess?’, Billie asked her, putting his arms around her waist, trying to pull her back to him. He didn’t want her leaving, as if she did, he wouldn’t get to spend anymore time with her for a good, few hours and he also wanted to make sure she was going to be alright.
‘You’ve got practise now, I should leave you 3. I don’t want to be getting in the way’, she told him.
‘You wont be, just stay, Mike’s not even here yet’, he told her, kissing her again, quickly, so that she didn’t have time to think about what was happening.
‘Billie, no really, I cant stay any longer’, she told him seriously, giggling as he tried to kiss her again.
‘No just stay, please for me?’, he asked sweetly. Tre looked up at him from behind the drums they had set up in the garage.
‘No Billie-Joe please, just let me go. I promise I’ll come and watch you guys later’, she told him smiling. They linked fingers together and kissed eachother goodbye, before Steph left the two boys to be alone, while they waited for Mike.
‘You two look cute together’, Tre told him, twirling his sticks in his fingers. Billie looked over towards him.
‘Yeah I know, she’s so gorgeous’, Billie said, collapsing onto the couch, they had put in there on one boring summers afternoon.
‘And you can tell she likes you. She’s all over you when your together’, Tre pointed out.
‘Yeah, I love her, this is gonna work out I can tell’, Billie said, shutting his eyes and putting his head back. There was silence in the room, for a while. Billie kept his eyes closed, convinced that Tre was tightening the drum skins. It was always quiet when Tre did that.
‘Billie?’, a voice asked. Billie opened his eyes. Tre was looking over him.
‘What the?!? Mate, what are you doing?’, he asked in a shocked state of mind.
‘Nothing I just wanna talk to you’, Tre told him.
‘Tre, we cant do this anymore. Please, I don’t want to ruin what I’ve gotten’, Billie told him, sitting up, to face Tre so that they could speak.
‘And I don’t want you to ruin what you’ve got, its just we have to end it, or its going to bother me for the rest of eternity’, Tre told him, in a confused state. He leant forward, expecting Billie to do the same, as the previous times had been. This time though Billie backed off.
‘Tre, what are you doing?’, Billie screamed.
‘What I just thought we should end it all’, Tre told him, leaning towards Billie again.
‘Tre, we cant’, Billie told him, pushing him back. It didn’t help though, the drummer was over powering him.
‘No Billie, please, lets just end this and I promise it wont ever happen again’, Tre told him, getting what he wanted this time round. The two boys started getting into it once again. Billie tried to fight it, but it was no use, they had pushed it further this time than it ever had gone.
The door quietly swung open. The two boys heard a gasp, and then the sound of the door slamming shut.
‘Shit, Tre who was that?’, Billie asked concerned for the fact that they had been caught in the act.
They separated quickly and wiped them selves clean of any evidence that pointed towards them doing anything.
Mike walked into the garage and straight up to Billie.
‘What did you do to her, she crying’, Mike asked him. Billie looked around trying to figure out an answer.
‘Nothing, Mike I swear. Where is she?’, Billie asked curiously.
‘She ran into the house’, Mike told him. Billie got up and pushed his way past Mike.
‘BILLIE-JOE’, Mike yelled, but it was no use, he had already reached the house.
Tre and Mike sat in silence for a while.
‘So are you going to tell me what happened?’, Mike asked the smaller man.
‘Nothing, happened Mike, trust me’, Tre told him. Mike looked down on him, expecting him to say more, but Tre didn’t budge.
‘Maybe I should go see how they are?’, Mike suggested.
‘No, don’t’, Tre said stopping Mike from going any further. Mike turned around and looked at him curiously.
‘They have to sort this out on their own’, Tre told him. The two boys then started talking about a completely different topic, but in the back of their minds, they both wondered what Billie and Steph were up to.
-IN THE HOUSE-
Billie ran thought the back door, expecting to see Steph in the kitchen, but she wasn’t. He searched around frantically, and ran past obvious clues that would have told him, right away where she was. On his way to the stairs he bumped into a draw that had been pulled out. He glanced in the draw. It was the cutlery draw. Bad thoughts started to make their way up to his mind. He kept going though still not thinking about anything until he had gotten up stairs. The first place he went was the most obvious. Her bedroom.
‘Steph you in here?’, he called, he didn’t hear anything so he kept searching. The bathroom was empty. Mike’s room. Empty. The retreat. Empty. The last room was the study. He forced his was thought the door, and stood in the centre of the room, searching it in sign for Steph. ‘Nothing’, he though. Just as he left, he heard small whimpers coming from under the study desk. He walked over and pulled out the chair.
‘Billie, just go away, I don’t want you to see me like this’...
‘No, just Steph and I’, Billie replied. He dropped his eyes down to the ground, trying not to create any eye contact with Mike as he knew he would have to give in and say everything. Mike could tell he was nervous.
