A Dream Come True (Longer version), chapter 1
(Okay, this is the longer version of my story. I'm just pretty much adding to it before she gets taken away by Defax)
Melody set out the fold up chair in the shade of the small tree. It gave enough so that she was in it all the way. She had been forced by her parents to watch her little sister outside. She protested, but when she heard 'Warning, ' she hurried outside. She groaned at how hot it was and how she wished she were inside right now, playing her beloved guitar. Her father had given the guitar to her for her thirteenth birthday, so now she had been playing for about four years. She brought out her guitar and a book for entertainment. She sat the guitar on the newly cut grass and rested it against the arm of the chair. She sat down a picked up the book from the grass. She watched her sister crossing the street before opening the book to chapter eight, where she had left off. Halfway in the chapter, her cell phone rang 'Holiday, ' a song from her favorite band. She sighed and found it in her pocket. She took it out and answered, not bothering to see who it was first," Hello...?" she said, a tad bit annoyed," Hey," Guess what?" She heard a voice say on the other end. Heather, or Kitty, as she preferred to be called, "What?" Melody asked, dropping the book on the grass, knowing her ears were going to be hurting in an hour or two. "The radio is having a contest! All you have to do is answer a few trivia questions, and you get backstage passes! And knows Green Day better than you? Besides them of course," She added quickly, "Well, thanks, you make it sound like I'm a stalker..." Melody said, rolling her eyes. "Besides, we already have tickets for the concert next week, why would we need backstage passes," Melody asked, "Because, this is Green Day we're talking about here, is it not?" she asked, "Ooooooooh, that Green Day? I thought you talking about someone else," Melody said sarcasticly," Who else would I be talking about?" Kitty asked. It's a wonder she wasn't a blonde, "No, no sarcasm at all, no," Melody said, shaking her head. There was a he'sitation on the other end," Oh, I get it now..." she said, laughing, "You are incredibly slow, you know that?" Melody asked," Oh, shut up!" Kitty said, still laughing. Melody couldn't but laugh herself. "Soooooooooooo, then you'll do it?" she asked hopfully," Yeah... I guess," Melody said and sighed. "Thank you kindly," Kitty said and hung up. Melody was surprised. She had been expecting a squeal or something.
Her little sister, Moira, Had gone to see if all of her close living friends to come out. Once they were all outside, they started to play, except for Caroline, who started to walk over, "What," Melody asked, annoyed by her just coming up out of the blue. "Want to come play?" she asked, "No, if you will recall, I didn't want to come out here in the first place, so please leave me alone," she pleaded, "If you want to be left alone, then go somewhere else," Caroline said, making Melody more angry. She was known around the neighbor by her anger. That and her band. "Why the hell do I have to leave my own damn lawn to get some peace? I know my yard is all fun to "play" in, but you and your fourth grader boyfriend can leave," she yelled, "He's not my boyfriend!" Caroline protested, "But you sure as hell wish she was!" Melody yelled back at her, "Fine! We'll leave, but you don't have to bite our heads off!" Caroline yelled.
*Later*
"Happy Birthday!" Melody exclaimed as her friend, Emily, came over. "Oh, thanks," She said, smiling. Melody offered one of her chips, still pissed at Caroline though, her mood showing it a little. Emily took the chip gratefully, "Thanks, did you see us making faces at you?" They had been making faces at Melody while she had been watching Moira play with them. She nodded a little. Emily was quite weird, another "Prep" friend of Melody's. She started laughing and took a bite of the chip," Ew, is this the lime kind?" she asked. Melody nodded again, smiling. She took the piece she had bitten off the chip and tried to hand it back, "Here," she said. Melody refused. Emily sighed and finished the chip reluctdantly," Caroline said you yelled at her," Emily said after the chip was gone, "I guess...," Melody said, "And whenever you would look at us, she would say 'Melody's looking at me'," Emily continued, "Like I would look at the goody-goody slut," Melody mumbled. Emily laughed
* The Next Day *
Melody was listening to the radio all day, waiting for the contest to start. Her cell phone rang. Heather again. She sighed and answered it, "What...?" she asked, "It's starting call hem now!" she said and hung up. Melody smiled a little to herself now, and called the station," Helloooooooo, caller number nine, if you answer the question correctly, you win two backstage passes to the Green Day concert next week. Are you ready?" the announcer asked. Melody nodded, and then forgot she was on the phone," Yeah," she said. "Okay, what is the drummer's name?" he asked. Melody gasped in disbelief," Tre Cool," She said, "And now is real name?" the announcer asked. Melody began jumping up and down, excited, "Frank Edwin Write III!" She said, still bouncing around the room. "Coooooooooorect!" The announcer said, "You've won two backstage passes to the Green Day concert!" Melody stopped bouncing around when she heard her father yelling from down in the basement. Man, could he really project his voice!
Melody flew down the stairs and outside. She jumped in the jeep and drove to Kitty's house. She parked in the driveway and opened the door. She almost fell out as she unbuckled herself. Kitty just happened to be looking out the window and saw her. She ran outside and collided with her friend. They both started jumping up and down, screaming. By now, the whole neighborhood was staring at them from inside the windows, but they could care less. Matthew looked out the window as well. Matt was a good friend of both of them and Kitty's next-door neighbor. He laughed to himself, shaking his head. He walked outside and over towards them calmly. Then he started jumping up and down as well with them, "Why *Jump* are *Jump* we *Jump* jumping *Jump*?" He asked, and then stopped. Melody and Kitty then stopped too, laughing. Melody had finally calmed down enough to explain to him, "We won backstage passes to the Green Day concert!" she said, "And I don't get to go?" Matt asked with a fake pout. Melody shook her head.
* Before concert *
Melody put on her favorite black button-up shirt. It was little too small for her, but oh well. She put on a pair of jeans and picked up the backstage pass and her ticket. She headed out the door and got in the jeep. She drove to Kitty's house and honked the horn. Kitty came running out in a blue shirt and a frilly blue skirt, "Dressed up, are we?" Melody asked with a smirk. Kitty nodded.
They finally got on the highway, almost at the concert. When they got there, the place was packed. Melody found a spot on the grass and parked. They both stepped out and headed for the entrance. They handed their tickets and went inside. It was dark inside and everyone was pushing everyone for what seemed like hours. Then, finally, the opening riff for American Idiot came on. Kitty started to sing along, Melody laughing.
* After concert *
Melody and Kitty were hanging out backstage, bored as hell. They were waiting for the guys to come to the back to finally meet them. So far, it was just them sitting there, until a familiar figure came in with someone attached to their arm. Caroline and Zach. Zach was the one that made Melody and Caroline's friendship fall apart. Melody had like him since the seventh grade and couldn't help it still. But Caroline didn't give much thought to him because he was "mean" to her. But the next year, just 'cause he asked her one little question, she was all over him. She acted as if Melody never liked him and wouldn't shut up about how he liked Caroline and she even sang an Opera about him (She had been watching the Phantom of the Opera and now thinks that opera is the greatest thing invented).
Melody glared at them until they were seated on the other side of the room. Caroline cuddled up next to Zach. He started to look uncomfortable, but didn't say anything. Melody stood up and walked off towards the other room," Caroline, come," she said as she walked past. Caroline sighed and stood up and followed Melody out. Melody waited for her in the other room, "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Melody asked when Caroline walked in, "What's that supposed to mean?" Caroline asked. Melody was fuming, "You don't even like Green Day!" Melody said, her voice raising a little, "So...?" came Caroline's reply," So... Why the fuck are you here?" Melody asked, trying to maintain calm, "'Cause Zachary likes them and wanted to meet them," Caroline said plainly. Melody glared at her," What? It's not like you fucking like him, right?" Caroline asked, folding her arms, "Wow, Miss Goody-Goody swore? Well, I guess there's a first for everything," Melody said, smirking, "Just answer the damn question," Caroline said. Melody gasped sarcastically, "And there she goes again, wow Caroline, you're on a roll today!" Melody said. Caroline groaned and left the room. Melody watched her leave, then waited a few minutes to cool off.
* Back in the room *
They waited longer for the guys to come. Caroline sat there bored, still cuddling up with Zach, and he was still looking uncomfortable. Kitty started to play with her hair and crossed her legs. Melody just sat there, trying not to look at Caroline and her supposed date and wished she had her guitar with her. Melody looked up from the floor and caught a glance at Caroline. She couldn't take it anymore. She got up and walked back to the other room and sat on the floor with her back against the wall. They all were watching her as she left. She stayed in there for at least ten minutes be fore getting back up and returning to the main room.
She must have been gone longer than she had thought. No one noticed when she came in, they were all looking at the new comers. One of them looked over at her, "Melody?" he asked.
Melody looked over at who said her name. She was suprised they remembered her. It happened at least a year ago. The other two looked over at her as well," Is that you?" The same voice she had known to be Tre Cool's. Everyone in the room was looking at her now," They know your name?" Zach asked. Melody shrugged," I guess, I'm just surprised that you guys remembered me," Melody said, smiling a little. Kitty looked over at her friend," How come you never told me?" she asked. Melody turned to her, "I got picked to, along with two other people, when I got my ticket to their show, to spend some time with them," she answered, "But then how come you never told me?" she asked again, "It was sworn to secrecy," Billie Joe answered for her. Kitty looked over at Billie now, "Then how come it was out in the open when she was getting her ticket?" she asked. There was a slight he'sitation, "Well, see, it didn't work out as we had hoped..." Tre said. Caroline sttod up, "So, your Green Bay?" she asked, "Day," came a cough from the background, "Day," she repeated hurridly. "Yeah, I guess you can call us that," Mike said, looking at her oddly, "Well, at least you know there name," Melody muttered, rolling her eyes. "I'm Caroline, and this is Zach, and that's my good friend, Heather," Caroline said, pointing to someone when she said their name, "Kitty," Melody corrected. Caroline snickered, "Show's how much you know your friends," she said, sitting back down next to Zach, "Maybe now isn't a good time...?" Billie said, "Oh, no, sit," Melody said, forcing a smile, then looking back towards Caroline. She turned back to the guys, who where sitting down now, "I'll be right back..." she said, looking back at Caroline. Caroline sighed and stood up once again and followed Melody out of the room. They fought again, pretty loudly. Tre turned to Kitty, "Are they always like this?" he asked, "Didn't used to be..." Kitty answered, looking at the door of the room. Billie sighed and stood up, walking towards the room that Melody and Caroline were in and opened the door, leaving Tre, Mike, Zach, and Kitty. Tre looked over at Zach, "You... Play anything?" he asked, trying to strike up a conversation. He nodded, "Drums," he said, smiling a little, "Really? How good?" he asked, "One of the best in the school," Kitty said. Tre stood up and motioned for Zach to follow. Zach obied and followed him out of the room. Now it was just Mike and Kitty, "So, how long you've been a fan?" Mike asked, his turn to start the conversation, "Since Dookie," she said, smiling, "What's it like to get big?" she asked, "Why? Are you in a band?" he asked, "Yeah, with Melody and a few other people," she answered, "Yeah? What do you play?" he asked, "Volcal chords. I'm the singer," Just then, Melody came out of the room, followed by Billie, then Caroline. The two were fuming, Billie was confused. Melody had tried explainung why she was pissed at Caroline, but then the fight just got worse. Melody's face was beat red and Caroline's, well, her's was always red. "Welcome back?" Mike said, looking at them. Melody forced another smile, "Thanks," she said. Billie looked at Caroline, "So, you don't even know who the fuck we are?" he asked, "Would everyone just stop saying that word?!?" She yelled, "Oh, great, now you're a hypocritical Good-Goody now? Want anything else to add to it?" Melody asked, rolling her eyes, "Aw, come on, not again," Billie said. Kitty stood up, "Guys, just calm down..." She said, making them both sit down next to eah other. Melody looked at Billie, "Got a guitar I could barrow for a few minutes?"
All eyes turned to her, "Yeah... Why?" Billie asked. Kitty answered for her," It's the only thing that will calm her down right now." Melody nodded, giving Kitty a weak smile," Uh, yeah, there in the back room where you two were fighting," he said," Thanks," Melody said and walked into the back room," I can play guitar too!" Caroline said, as if she was scared of losing the attention. Kitty turned to her," You can? I thought you only did percussion," she said. Caroline shook her head, smiling as her spot light was returning," Oh, no, I've been playing at least a year longer than her," she said, referring to Melody," Too bad you don't know where the A note is," Melody called from the back room. The door was left ajar, alowing her to hear the conversation. Caroline blushed a bright pink, knowing it was true. All she could do was strum a few chords. She hardly knew any theory at all, but she was rather good with rythems, you'd have to admit. Melody smirked to herself then looked up at the guitars that hung from the racks. She was tempted to play one that resembled Blue, but decided against it. Back in he main room, it was quiet. Then all the sudden, a loud banging noise came from down the hall, in another back room. Everyone looked down the hall, not noticing Kitty jump about a mile high. It was easy to scare her. Billie stood up to see what it was. Everyone followed him down the hall untill they got to the room. There was sudden squeak of pain from the back," What the hell...?" Billie whispered and looked back behind him, "You steped on my foot!" came Kitty's harsh whisper," Sorry," Caroline's. Billie turned back to the door and griped the doorknob. He turned it slowly, the loud noise was still coming from the room.
* In the room *
Tre stood around boredly, watching Zach play. He wasn't all that bad though, just it sounded like he hadn't played at least a year ago. He turned to the door, seeing the knob start to turn slightly.
* Back with everyone else *
Everyone was leaned up against the door now for some odd reason as Billie continued to turn the knob, slow as hell...
* In the room *
Tre continued to watch the door knob for a minute or two. Finally, he walked over to it and opened it, causing everyone to fall in the room," What the...?" he said, looking down at them. Zach had stoped playing and looked at them as well," Don't ask..." came Billie's muffled voice. Everyone was on top of him as he laid face down on the floor. Tre helped Caroline up, then Kitty. Mike got up and soon Billie did also. Caroline looked over at Zach and smiled," Hi!" she said, waving. Zach waved back a little, giving a weak smile. Tre looked back at Billie," Where's Melody?"
Melody had been playing the guitar for about 20 minutes. She played a few of her own songs, a few Green Day songs she learned back in the day, and some classical stuff. Just then, her cell phone went off, playing Holiday again. She sighed and got it out of her pocket. She looked to see who was calling, Matthew. 'Why would he call? He knows where I am... ' she thought to herself. She answered it, "What...?" she said into the phone, "Hey, buddy!" came Matthew's voice, "What do you want now?" Melody asked him. "I thought we were better friends than that!" he said, fake pouting. "Matt, I've know you long enough, now what the hell do you want?" she asked again, "Are you still backstage?" he asked, "Yes... Why?" she said, "Oh, no reason, just maybe say hello to my heroes..." he said. Melody shook her head, "Not your heroes, 'member?" she said, "Well... I look up to them then?" he said, "No, you don't," Melody said flatly. Matt sighed, "Well... Can I just say 'Hi' then?" he asked Melody rolled her eyes. She rolled over so that she was on her hands in knees and started crawling to the door. She stood up and opened the door. No one there, "Sorry, looks like there gone..." she said, looking around the room again. "What do ya mean they're not there?" Matt asked, "I mean they're not here," Melody said simply. She went down a random hall, still not finding anyone. She found a door though, and opened it. It was pitch black in the room. She wandered inside, the floor seemingly made of tile, "Hellooo?" she called out. Her echo came back, "Great, it's a huge room..." she said out loud, "What...? Where are you now?" Matt asked, "I really have no idea..." she said. She continued wander and listening to Matt rant on about her not knowing where the hell she was. Suddenly, she let out a squeal of terror as she dropped about five feet down. She dropped the phone by mistake on her way down. Matt heard a big bang and Melody in the background, "Oh Shit!" "Melody...? Hello? Melody?!?" he said into the phone, starting to get worried now. "Ow... Fuck..." Melody said as she stood up again. She figured she was in the arena by now, and what she just fell off of was the stage. She climbed back onto the stage and felt around for the phone. She finally found it, "Matt?" she said into it, "Melody! What the hell just happened?!?" he asked, yelling at her. "I just... Fell..." she said, standing up again.
* With all the others *
"She's where all the equipment is," Billie answered. "Yeah, she's playing a guitar in there or something. She thinks she's really good, but she kinda sucks at it," Caroline said with a smirk. Kitty turned to Caroline, "She's not that bad..." she said, defending her friend. "Wait... She plays guitar?" Zach asked, looking over at Kitty and Caroline. Kitty nodded, Caroline smiled, "Oh, I can play much better than her," she said, nodding. She knew that Tre was the one she liked better than the other two, ever since she was thirteen, back when they were friends.
Okay, before I go on any longer, I just want to tell you one thing: none of this really happened. It was just another of my crazy dreams during Social Studies (Don't worry, I'm not the only one that falls asleep in the fucked up class). Right now, I'm thirteen and in eighth grade. If you must label me, go along with all the other people at my school who insist I'm "Goth." To tell you the truth, I make myself sick because I'm so fucking happy-go-lucky and optimistic at school. Thank God I'm not at home. And, if you really want to know what my real name is, too bad, because from now on, I'll be making everyone refer to me as Saturn (Please don't ask). I have light brown hair, blue eyes, way too pale skin with freckles (Which I hate). Also, I'm much too skinny, making everyone in the seventh grade think I was anorexic, so now I'm trying to gain weight but nothing seems to work. I'm actually pretty tall for my age, I think anyway. I'm about five foot five (You wouldn't believe how many tiny people go to my school). It's also fun to piss my dad off by wearing way too much eyeliner and mascara and scaring the shit out of everyone. But anyway, now that I've described myself to you, shall my get on with my life story? It all started...
Melody set out the fold up chair in the shade of the small tree. It gave enough so that she was in it all the way. She had been forced by her parents to watch her little sister outside. Emily laughed

* In the room *
* In the room *
