A Dream Come True (Longer version), chapter 14
I sat by myself on the bus, staring blankly out the window. All I could think about was what Matt wrote in my yearbook, if it was really him that wrote it. I wanted to believe it wasn't him, I only thought of him as a good friend but everyone else thought I like him. But why would he like me? I've no life, I'm just a walking and talking corpse. The bus came to a stop. Heather's stop. Everyone came on the bus, Payne and Austin sat in the seat in front of me and Heather sat next to me,"Hey," she said cheerfully. I gave a little smile, then looked back out the window, "Hey, arn't you excited? It's the last day of school, the first day of summer!" she said, giving me a little push.
I looked back at here, "Hmm, yeah, spending all my time indoors, burning my eyesight away by watching tv, play the guitar 'til my fingers bleed, die from heat and boredom. Yeah, sounds like fun!" I said sarcasticly.
She laughed,"At least you'll be going to Las Vegas!" she said.
"Oh yeah, Las Vegas. Staying home with grandparents who my mom hardly even knows while they go out and have the time of their short lives. Fun!" I said, returning to the window. She sighed.
In Homeroom, we heard some troubling news, "We're staying with Homeroom for the whole seven hours?" Michael asked.
Mrs. Barden nodded, "Exciting, huh?" she asked, clapping her hands together.
"Yeah, so is watching the grass grow," I muttered. So we stayed in Homeroom untill the awards. Which lasted two hours in the hot gym. It was very miserable. After that we went back to Homeroom and waited fifteen minutes for lunch, then headed their. We were aloud to sit wherever we wanted on our side of the room. So I sat down where Heather and Racheal usually sat.
And then Mandi came, "Hey," she said.
"Hi." She was Heather's friend, I hardly knew her, but I think she might've wanted to be friends. A couple of examples: Out on the bus port, Heather and Mandi were talking about Fruit's Baskets when Heather pointed at me and said, "Yeah, she likes Yuki too," to Mandi.
Then Mandi said, "Really? Wow, you're my new best friend!"
Another? Okay: She signed my yearbook,"Hi, I don't know you but I'll miss you."
But, I could be wrong, like I was with Matt. Hopefully.
After having to move around the lunch room for a bit so Racheal and Heather could sit by Alex, I ended up where I usually sit with Ali and Shriya. Then lunch ended and we headed outside for ice cream. It wasn't all that good with all the chocolate thay put on it. And I had to move around a lot out there too. I noticed that I get replaced easily. It's really starting to bother me. So I ended up sitting with Matt and Jenny.
Have you ever sat next to a bunch of girly-girls when a spider crawls by? Don't get me wrong, I'm terrifed of spiders too, but it's hilarious when you hear them scream. Later on, Matt made a little stadium for the spiders in the grass. He also couldn't leave the sticks alone. He kept getting Jenny to Krate chop them, he was quite amused by that.
After that, we were sent back to the auditorium to watch some Talent show. I had already seen it when I went with Heather and Dhrumi. I sat with Jenny and Carlos. Jenny and I would have little contests to see who would get the last scream. When she one, she would bark. It was quite funny, really. Then we were ushered back to Homeroom to hang out for a sometime while the teachers removed the sliding wall between Mrs. Voss' room and Mrs. Cho's. The whole team could fit there.
Heather, Racheal and I sat near the front. They had a little award ceamony Where everyone got an award on the team, and if they didn't, they got a stuffed M&M. I got neither. Then the Video year came on. It wasn't much of a surprise to me, since Heather wouldn't shut up about it. She maneged to get two pictures of me at the Winter Ball in there. I still don't know why I went in the first place. Once that was over, practially everyone was crying. The car riders and walkers got to leave early, Ali along with them. We hugged before she left and she invited me to her house to comer and watch movies with everyone else,"I can't. It's Friday night," I said. Then she was gone. That would be the last I would see her in school. She wasn't going to the same highschool as I was, Mandi either. They were both going to Pebblebrook, a performing arts school. Mandi was bawling her eyes out by the time I reached over to the group. I didn't start crying until I got on the bus. Not because of leaving my friends behinde, I could deal with that, it was just that my mother tried to commit suicide on the last day of fifth grade, and today was the last day of eigth grade, the last year of the school.
