A Dream Come True (Longer version), chapter 2

It was a Monday, like any other school day. I was too pissed at Caroline to walk with her up to the bus stop. She lives about two houses away from me and Emily is across the street (If you remeber her). We have to walk up this huge hill, pretty steep as well, to get to the bus stop. I'm always tired while walking up there though, mostly because I have to get up at six in the moring to walk Moira to her bus stop (Which is half the length of mine from our house). It was pretty cold out this morning, so I wore my fake leather jack and a winter coat over that, along my Sooners hat. My dad is a big Sooners fan, seeing has how he was raised in Oaklahoma. But anyways, as I was saying before, It was pretty darn cold out. And even though I make it a point to wear my hair up in a ponytail everyday (unless dared not to) so that no one will have to see my afro like hair, I still put on that hat untill it came down to my eyebrows. The material was kinda itchy against my forehead, but frankly, I didn't give a shit. By the time I got up to the bus stop, I droped my flute case on the grass and the book next to it, then came the bookbag. I forgot it had a hole in it and that the grass was most likely wet. The hole was big enough so that it was noticble, but it would still hold my school crap. I walked over to where Malenda and Latiah (La - tee - ah, for all those who were wondering) were," Hey Miss Ghetto Earphones!" Latiah said loudly," Hey," I managed to say and nodded slightly. My dad threw away my headphones because they were shit and I needed some new ones. We found some in the garage, but they were crap as well, but at least they played in both ears. So then I started to bring them to the bus stop so I could listen to my new cd, Warning. They started calling me 'Miss Ghetto Earphones' ever since," Ew, don't look at me," Malenda said," Why?" I smiled. My eyeliner always scared her," Your eyes look all huge!" she said. I shruged and turned away, walking back to my stuff," What's wrong with you?" Latiah asked," Just fuckin' tired is all," I said, not turning back to her," Oh," she said. I looked down the hill and saw Caroline coming up. I guess I must've frowned a bit, for Malenda and Latiah looked down the hill also, the back at me," You two still fighting?" Malenda asked," I don't get it, she used to be soo nice, it's like she's on her cycle all the time now," she added," No, she was always like this, and she probably always will be," I said. Right now, I couldn't stand to look at her, I was soo pissed at her. She came up and put her stuff down next to mine, but didn't say anything. Fine with me though.

Finally, the bus came. I grabbed my bookbag and was just about to get my stuff when Caroline crouched down and grabbed my stuff. She handed it to me," Thanks," I grunted,. But she still didn't say anything. She probably still wants to be friends, oh well, too bad. She got on before me and sat in her seat. I didn't have an assign seat yet, since I was late to school on the day the bus driver assinged them. I sat with Malenda, who happened to be behind Caroline.

After a few stops, Heather came on the bus," Hey!" she said and she sat down sideways, taking off her book bag, the sliding around in her seat so that she faced the front and put her book bag in her lap. She had a seat next to Caroline. Typical," Hey," I said, smiling. Caroline started to talk to Heather, so I strated to talk to Joana. She sat pretty much next to me, just on the other asile. Fianlly, they had reached the school. Everyone stood up at once to get off. I managed to let Heather outbefore I went on, and somehow Caroline got in front of me. They started to walk off when they were off the bus, then remebered I was still on. I jumped down the stairs and met up with them. Caroline and I still refused to talk to each other.

* In homeroom* Angalina finally decided to come in when I was taking down the chairs for us. We got to be good friends when she came to school in the second week. She's a bit like me, only shorter," Eyeliner?" she asked. I sighed and handed her my eyeliner and mirror from my jacket's pocket," Thanks," she said, sitting down next to me. She started to apply it," Even?" she asked. I looked at her and gave her a nod," Got a pen I can barrow?" she asked," If you like pink, then ya," I said as I was working on my homework I was too lazy to to the night before. "What about that blue one," she asked, looking over at one of my binders," Need it for hell- er- I mean Language Arts," I said. She laughed a little," I need one to," she said," 'Kay, have fun finding one," I said without looking up from the math book. "Besides, you still owe me about... Who knows how many pencils, best guess would probably be around ten..." I added. She laughed again. The final bell rang for homeroom, indicating that it was time to go to first period. Science first. Yay, now we get to learn about how great rocks are! Damn teachers... Well, my homeroom was in the Science class (Go figure), so I didn't have much far to walk. Just a few feet to the next table.

Today, we were supposed to do a "Lab" today with candy. I was kinda excited because pretty much all my friends sit at my table: Matthew, Mia, Rachel, and Ashley (All of which are pretty girly, Mia's even a Cheerleader, but still pretty funny. But, Matthew doesn't really count... Mostly because he's a... Well... A guy if you haven't already figured it out. But it would be pretty funny if he was girly... ). So, there are five people at the table, right? So all of us would be in a group, 'cept Matthew who had to go to a different table beacuse we had five and two only had about three. So, at our table, we had to write a Halloween story type thing. Don't know what the hell that has to do with candy though..." You know what? We're going to make a poem because I'm very poetic," Mia said. We all smiled and agreed. It started out like this:

Jack was a Cat
In a very pink Hat
He went to a house
When a monster jumped out.

And that's when they called me up to the front office. "Mrs. Barden? Do you have Chelsea Marks? Please send her up to the front office," Everyone looked at me. Guess the word hasn't reached the front office about my new name. I looked around the room," Wonder who that is...?" I said rather loudly. Mrs. Barden looked at me and told me to go up. I sighed and got up and went out the door. Never did get to finish that poem...

I walked down the wrong hall. I may never get this school down. At least I could still get to the front office from there. I walked down another hall with a lot of wall art in it. I finally reached the front office. The councilor stopped me and asked, "Are you Chelsea Marks?" I nodded. She walked past me with someone else. I turned around and followed. The other one looked at my jacket, "Like your jacket, it's cute," She said. 'Not what I was aiming for... ' I thought and replied, "Thanks," I said softly. We walked into this room that looked like some big business room, with a long brown table in the middle and red chairs surrounding it. The councilor, Mrs. Myers, turned to me, "Have a seat. Do you know who this is?" she asked, referring to the other person. I shook my head, "This is Mrs. Flowers," she said. "Do you know why she's here?" Mrs. Myers asked. I shook my head again, not really wanting to know. "Well, she got a referral, don't worry, you're not in any trouble, but she got a referral to come and see you," she said. No trouble, eh? Surprise, surprise. "So... Who all is your family?" Mrs. Flowers asked. I turned to her, "Excuse me?" I asked. She repeated the question, "Uh... My dad, my mom, my older half brother, and my little sister...?" I said. She nodded, "How do you say your sister's name again?" she asked, "... Moira..." I said, "Myra? Mor... Mor... Moira? What a mouthful," She said, laughing a little, "It's Irish..." I said for some reason. They both nodded again. "Who do you get along with...?" she asked, "All of them..." I said, looking at her weird. I hat the damn Shrink type people. Already went once, don't know why I have to go again. "Have you seen your mother hurting herself lately?" Mrs. Flowers asked. I turned to her, wide-eyed. Did she know? Did she know what happened on the last night of fifth grade? I felt my eyes start to water and shook my head, "No..." I said. "It seemed like that question upset you," she said. I turned to her and shook my head again. I bit down hard on the inside of my right cheek until I started to feel it. Then the tears came, "We can't help you if you don't tell us what's wrong," Mrs. Myers said. Do all Shrinks say that whenever they have an appointment? I didn't want to, but I told them everything, "Mom tried to kill herself on the last day of fifth grade..." I said, now sobbing. Sure, that was a while back, but she still did it. I stood up and left, knowing that it wasn't over. They watched me leave and called for me to come back, but I ignored them. I went into the bathroom and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I forgot I had eyeliner on, but it wasn't as bad as it probably should have been. My eyes were still red. I walked out of the bathroom and head back for the classroom.

*At Home*

"Chelsea... Did someone come to your school to talk to you today?" My dad asked. I nodded and sat down on the white loveseat in the leaving room. "Why?" I asked. "Someone called mom today and we're really worried." He said. I looked at him, "Why?" I asked again, "Well, it seems that someone sent a referral to this Flowers person saying that we're abusive, don't worry, you're not in any trouble," He said. Why the hell does everyone have to say that to me. Like I give a shit about being in trouble. "Who...?" I asked. "That's what we're trying to figure out, have you been talking to Caroline?" He asked. I shook my head. My eyes started to tear up again. "We have to find out soon or else you could get taken away from us," he said. I turned to him, the tears coming again.

I sat on my computer chair, facing my closet. We were going to Six Flags since this was our last chance to go. We shouldn't be going cause of religion though... Which got me started up last week when we went. Mom wouldn't let me join marching band because I would have to go to games on a Friday night. Don't know why she cared, wouldn't be watching tv, buying anything, or making anyone work. But then we go to Six Flags on a Friday night. Why is everyone so damn hypocritical all the sudden? Anyways, since Halloween was around the corner, people would be dressing up. My mom had Moira dress up as a zebra, and I was Freddy Kruger last year, so I wore the sweater and a hat that looked kind of like his. No way I was going to put on that mask again, always getting hot inside over sized head. It was meant for an adult to wear, so I probably looked stupid walking around looking like one of those bobble heads. I went downstairs again," Ready?" Mom asked. I nodded.

We all got in the car, and I ended up with the jacked-up door, the one with the handle on the inside was hanging lose. Before, I couldn't open it at all and someone would have to open it from the outside, until Blaine completely destroyed the damn thing. It was then that I noticed that I always ended up with that side.

We finally got there after about forty-five minutes, enduring Moira's constant," Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Making you want to wrap you hands around her neck until she turned blue. We got out and headed for the entrance. Mom handed us our season passes as we came to the gate. "Okay, what first?" Dad asked," How 'bout Scorcher?" I asked. Him and Baline shrugged. "I'll take Moira over to the kid section while you guys go to the roller coasters," Mom said. Our usual conversation at the front gate. We got in line for the Georgia Scorcher for the back car. "You better not lose my hat now," Dad said. I smiled and took it off. It had a string I stuffed in it that tightens around the chin. I did just that," Better?" I asked," Much," he answered. We finally got on and sat down, adjusting the seats to our liking. I put my hand though the lose string and held on to the handle of the seat. The train moved forward and you could hear multiple screams near the front.

*Later*

On our way out of the park, I saw a white limo with the doors opened. I did see someone who resembled the village idiot from 'The Village, ' but I doubt it was actually him.
