A Dream Come True (Longer version), chapter 5

P. E. Has got to be the worst class to ever be invented on the face of this earth. All you do is go on the field and get pelted by balls or watch ofther people get pelted by balls for fourty-five minutes. It seems even longer when you're pissed at your friends. They were all sitting in the bleachers next to the score box thing while I sat a few bleachers above them. They kept nagging for me to join them, but I ignored them. Finally, Dhrumi came up and sat next to me, "Hey," she said. I gave her a small wave. "Are you okay?" she asked, "Yeah, just tired. Got six hours of sleep last night," I said. I hate it when they talk to me when I'm pissed at them. It always sets off the waterworks for some odd reason. I leaned forward and covered my face with my hands, bitting my lower lip to keep from crying. Then I remembered the day they sent me to the front office.

"Have you seen mother hurt yourself lately?" she asked. I bit the inside of my cheeck and shook my head. "We visted your brother's school earlier," she said. I looked up at her. "We believe you have some tension between you and your brother..." she went on. "We're siblings. Everyone's gonna be like that," I said, tasting blood from my cheeck. Mrs. Flowers nodded, looking over some papers. I knew I shouldn't have opened up to them, but I did anyway. I told them everything, but not my parents...

That just helped the tears come, silently though, "You didn't want to change, did you?" Dhrumi asked. I shook my head, "Are you sure nothing's wrong?" she asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. Heather came running up, "What's wrong?" she asked. "I've already told you..." I muttered, "Oh.." she said. Yes, I told her, Emily, Melinda, Racheal, and Brittney. The buzzer went off, "Sit on your numbers!" Came the annoying voice of Coach Hyatt. Then from out of nowhere Mia came running up, "What's wrong?" she asked as I tried to get away, "She's just remembering the past," Heather said, "Oh, well, I don't like to see my friends sad, 'cause then I'll cry," she said, causing all of us to smile. We looked down at the field, everyone was staring at us, waiting for us to sit down on our numbers, "Oh!" Heather said, laughing. On the way down, Mia tried to guess what was wrong. "Does it have something to do with your parents?" she asked, "Along the lines of that," I said, nodding, "Well, I'll tell you my story. See, my parents, they're going to get a divorce," she said, "Yeah? My six-year-old sister and I might get taken away from ours," I said and sat down on my number.

That very same day, I saw Caroline's sister at the media center. And the worst part was, I had to stay there to work on the Spanish project. Seeing as how the choice was to work on the project and get seen by the witch's sister, or avoid her and forget about the project, I ended up doing the second choice.
