A Dream Come True (Longer version), chapter 8

"No! I'm not wearing that!" I said as Bionca took out her dress. They were making me go to the Winter Ball and Binoca was giving me her dress to wear. It was a grayish-silver color and was short, near the bottom were layers of ruffles and then some glittery strands were hanging down,
"Oh come on! It's just one night!" Heather said.
"To you, it might just be one night, but for me, it's my last night!" I said, looking at the dress again.
Rachael jumped up. "What'd ya mean?" she asked.
I looked up at her and sighed. "My dad doesn't know that I'm going to Heather's house right after school and that I'm going to be at the dance until nine thirty," I said.
"Oh, quit worrying, if you keep thinking about at the dance, you'll be miserable," she said, putting her hands on her hips.
"I'm going to be miserable in the first place! In case you haven't noticed, I'm not like most girls, even last year. And now you're expecting to me to wear a skimpy dress and high heels? Can't you at least have an ounce of mercy? Just this once?" I said, ready to get on my knees and beg.
"No! You're wearing it and that's final!" she said.

"But what about 'Oh, it's a free country and all...' Hmmm?"

"That doesn't count for the weirdos."

"Now that's just prejudice. And since when is it a crime to be weird?"

"When you were born."

"Oh, haha, very funny..."

Mrs. Sicard came up. "Girls, you only have five minutes left of class, you think you could leave Chelsea alone for that long?" she said.
I smiled. "Thank you!" I said, smiling. Mrs. Sicard nodded and walked off. Heather and Racheal just glared at me as I smiled back at them, then they went to go sit back down. I turned around and looked at my desk. On it laid the dress.
"I hate you all..." I muttered, finally giving in.

On the bus

"Now see? This is the death bag," I said, holding up the bag for everyone to see.
"As you can see, inside is a most horrible dress the dictators are going to make me wear tonight at my funeral and these dreadful high heels. The worst part, I see no black anyway in this bag."
Cody was laughing in the seat near mine. Most everyone has an assign seat on that bus except for me and him, though where I used to sit with Carlos, which was across Heather's, he now sits there. So right now, I was sitting in front of Heather.
"It's a Wal-Mart bag," she said. I looked at the bag and nodded. But the only word I could make out on it was always.
"Okay... It is the 'Always Death Bag.' Any takers?" I asked, smiling. The bus finally came to my stop. I watched and waved as all the others got off, including Caroline and Cody and Carlos and a few others. But I was going home with Heather and wasn't at all looking forward to it. But I do have to say, it does feel weird not getting off at that stop.

Then Payne sat in the seat Cody was in.
"Hey, could you take a picture of her in a dress for me?" he asked. Heather nodded smiling. I swear I think that kid likes me. First he stares at me in P.E. Before we kind of met, and then during the whole "take a picture of Saturn with a camera phone if you have one" charade, he had a camera phone. But in all honesty, I did notice him taking the picture, why I never tried to hide from it, I may never know. But now he wants a picture of me in a dress.

Heather gets off at the last stop and I do have to say, it was quite nice to be one of the only few on the bus. It was just Heather, Payne, Austin, Logan, Me and some others. We were all yelling at each other, debating about how many pictures they were allowed to take of me. Then we all felt the bus stop, flying forward into the seats.
"Jeez, who the hell taught you how to drive?" I asked the bus driver. Thankfully, she didn't hear me since we were all in the back. Heather and Payne laughed.
