A Dream Come True (Longer version), chapter 9
"Oh, hey, can I see you cell phone for a sec?" I asked Heather. She nodded and took it out of her purse, handing it to me," Uh... Where be the ring tones?" I asked. She laughed," You're so stupid!"
"Hey, I don't have phone, so don't be going and saying stuff like that."
"Well, who's fault is that?"
"Sprint's," I said simply, smiling. We had already gotten off the bus and said good-bye to everyone. Now we wer'e on her driveway. She saw the newspaper at the foot of it and started to kick it towards her house. "Why don't you just pick it up?" I asked. " 'Cause I'm wearing a skirt," she said, kicking along," Ahh..."
She walked in her house and I closed the door behind us. She threw her stuff on the floor. " You can just put it there," she said. I nodded and dropped everything and she started laughing.
She started walking towards her kitchen and I followed her. Her mother was standing at the breakfast bar watching their new plasma. It's kinda weird, how such a nice neighborhood is right next to mine, which is really run down. But I guess I can't really complain since I live next door to Odious Nixon's twins. They told me he's living next to Usher now and that Keith actually met him when visiting Nixon. Keith is one of their sister's friends.
"This is Chelsea," Heather said.
I waved a little, smiling.
"Hey," her mother said.
"We should probably get to work now," Heather said cheerfully. I groaned and followed her back out of the room. She ran up the stairs and I trudge behind her.
"Now, what first?" Heather said before we got into her room. Once there, she squealed in delight as she saw a tiara, white gloves, bobby pins, and a pink and white flower pin sitting on her bed. " Thank you, Mom!" she yelled out. She looked at me, smiling broadly and squealed again. " Can I leave now?" I asked, pleadingly. " No!" she laughed. I sighed.
*Five Minutes Later*
I came out of the bathroom, wearing the stupid dress. "Aww...!" Heather said, smiling as she saw me. " Shut the fuck up..." I muttered. She laughed again.
"Hey, I found that shaw for you to wear,"
"I have to wear it?"
"Yeah, it was part of the deal,"
"Ahh...The Deal...what was it again? Two free weeks, right? I don't even follow the damn schedule!"
They made a schedule for me, including what to wear on what day and how to wear my hair. It was quite annoying to say the very least. But they were my friends and I love them to bits and I'd do anything to please them. Do I sound too much of a push-over now?
"You look so pretty in that!" she said. I rolled my eyes," Whatever..." she sighed.
" Oh come on! Even Payne wanted a picture of you in the dress!" she said.
"Yeah, so he could laugh at them later!" I said, folding my arms.
"No he wouldn't. He may not look it, bbut he's really sweet," she said.
I smiled."Like me!" I said, lacing my fingers together and bring them up to my chin. She laughed. She once called me sweet before. " So how are things going with Matt?" she asked.
"We're friends. Nothing more."
"Oh, but you two would look so cute together!"
"We're friends!"
"Do you like anyone at least?"
"No. Right now, I'm only acting like that I like Zach Norman just to piss Caroline off. Just do me a favor, don't tell her any of your secrets, please?"
"Don't worry, we're not even good friends."
"She wasn't even a good friend back in fifth grade!"
"What'd she do?"
"She got Dylan to break up with me within a week of him asking me out."
"You had a boy friend?"
"Somewhat..."
"In the fifth grade?!"
"Yeah... It's not that big of a deal..."
"But we're talking about you! The 'Punk! ' Were you one in fifth grade?"
"No, I was more of a tomboy back then...what the hell does all this matter?"
"You're enjoying your freedom of speech a lot, aren't you?"
"Hell yes!"
She started to laugh. " Okay, come on, we need to get busy..." she said. And with that, she did everything she possibly could to get me ready for the worst night of my life.
