Basket Case *Sequel to Boulevard of Broken Dreams*, chapter 1

"Alright, it's medication time" the nurse asked as she entered the brightly colored dayroom.

I really hated this time of day. The horse-pills they made us take, tasted horrible as they went down. The room was full of muffled cries of ones who feel the same way, about the "medicine."

"Ok, Mr. Armstrong, your turn," the nurse said as she put the little plastic cup thingy in my hand, and held a cup of water out at me. She smiled with a kind of sick glare. I reluctantly took the medicine and handed her the cups back. She turned to walk away, but stopped herself and turned back around facing me.

"Oh yeah, before I forget, you have a few visitors," she said as she finally turned and walked away.

I got up from my very uncomfortable seat in front of the T.V. and walked to the door where there was a man standing there in white scrubs, looking at me. I walked over to the door, and he unlocked it releasing me into the hallway. He looked the door back and followed me to the waiting room; unlocking and locking the door back just as I was in.

I gazed around the room, with empty tables, when I seen in the far right hand corner, was my two best friends and my fiancé'. I sat down at the available seat facing them, and they just stared at me. Some had fear, while others had a sense of confusion and uncertainty.

MIKE'S P.O.V.

He looked bad. It had been the first time I had seen him in about 2 weeks. This place only allows, 2 visits a month. He looked like he had lost quite a bit of weight, and he looked like he was not even in his head. He was in light blue scrubs, and house shoes, his hair was a mess and his eyes were bloodshot. I'm not quite sure, Was it because of the medication, or was he really crazy?

Tre' was the first to break the silence. "So Bill, how's it going?"

Billie just lowered his eyes to where he was looking at the table and he mumbled something.

"What," I asked

He rose his head and he had tears in his eyes, "I'm not crazy, I know I saw Adie that night."

"Billie, we know your not crazy, but we were all just outside the bathroom, we didn't see anyone besides us, and our manager."

His cries turned to harder cries and he just dropped his head against the table.

"Billie," Rochelle said, "We are going to get you outta here, just don't worry."

It was silent for a minute, and Billie stood up abruptly knocking his chair over, and started screaming, "DAMNIT, I'm NOT CRAZY, WHY DON'T ANYONE BELIEVE ME."

The man that had been waiting outside the door rushed in with another man and grabbed Billie by the shoulders as the first man pulled a syringe out of his pocket and injected it into his arm. Billie eyes kinda rolled back into his head as went limp and the men eased him to the floor. I was a frightening sight, seeing them do that to him, but it had to be done. I turned and looked at Rochelle who had tears in her eyes, as she rubbed the engagement ring on her left ring finger. It was sad to see her, see Billie in that condition.
