Coming Clean, chapter 4

Billie Joe went to pick Cloe up from her trailer. When he arrived Cloe was already waiting outside her trailer. When Billie Joe pulled up outside Cloe didn't even bother to look up. Billie Joe got out of his car and made his way to where Cloe was standing, Cloe still didn't look up.
"Hey Cloe, what's wrong I thought you'd be happy to see me."
Cloe didn't reply. Billie Joe lifted Cloe's head up to see that her eyes were bloodshot and mascara stained her cheeks. Just then Billie Joe could hear shouting from within the trailer. Cloe's mom stepped out, furious.
"Cloe, don't you dare walk away from me when we're in the middle of an arguement, what the hell do you think you were playing at last night, coming home in the early hours of the morning, your father and I were worried sick!"
Cloe's mom marched up to Cloe but Billie Joe stepped infront.
"Who the fuck are you, get out of my way I'm not done talking to Cloe yet."
"Im Billie Joe, Cloe's boyfriend and I don't like they way you're talkng to her right now."
"Excuse me? I'm Cloe's mother and I'll speak to her how I fucking like!"
"Cloe, here's my car keys,go and wait there."Billie Joe handed his car keys to Cloe.
Cloe did what she was told and sat in the back of Billie Joe's ford.
"Cloe get back here now!"Cloe's mum yelled.
Billie Joe turned his back on Cloe's mom and made his way back to his car. Cloe's mom came after them but before she could reach them, Billie Joe's key was in the ignition and they were out of sight.
"Cloe what's wrong? What was all that about?"
"I don't want to talk about it right now."
"Cloe, you can tell me I'm worried about you."
"It was just a stupid arguement, no big deal."
Billie Joe could tell Cloe was covering something up.
"If it was no big deal why were you crying?"
Cloe didn't reply.
Billie Joe reached for his mobile to call Mike and Tre that he wouldn't be able to make the interview.
"Billie Joe, you didn't have to cancel just because of me, that interview was important to you."
"You're more important than a stupid interview, come on let's go back to my place."
Billie Joe pulled up outside his house and led Cloe into the living room and sat her down with a cup of coffee.
"Are you going to tell me what's wrong now?"
"You better promise not to tell anyone about this, this is a secret between me and you."
"I promise."
"Well when I was at your house last night and you drove me home my mom and dad were furious that I was back so late. My mom yelled at me and then hit me across the face and then my dad got angry with my mom for hitting me...and then he, he..."
"What happened then?"
"..Well my mom and dad were shouting at each other and then my dad hit my mom real hard in the face. My mom ran into the bathroom and when she came out she had a black eye and then my dad left..It's all my fault I shouldn't have been back so late, now my dads left and it's my fault."Cloe was now crying into Billie Joe's lap.
"Cloe it's not your fault your mom shouldn't have hit you."
"You don't understand, I can't go back there now, not ever,my mom will just hit me more now that my dad's not around."Cloe was still crying on Billie Joe's lap, the tears fell down onto his lap.
"You'll have to move in with me then."
"Billie, how would that work,what would your mom say? My mom would come after me, it just wouldn't work."
"My mom won't mind I promise, and as for your mom how would she find out where I live?"
"I suppose you're right, Billie Joe are you sure about this?"
"Of course I am, how could I live with myself if I let you go back there, not knowing what would happen to you."
Billie Joe kissed her and put his arm around her.
"You're so caring, even though I haven't known you long, it seems like we've known each other for years."Cloe said lifting herself up from Billie Joe's lap.
"I'll always be here to talk, no matter what it is."
"I'll have to leave a message for my mom to tell her I won't be coming back."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"I can't just leave, my mom will send out a search party if I don't tell her."
"Well if you're sure."Billie Joe passed Cloe his house phone.
"Hi mom I hope you're ok, I'm sorry I messed everything up but I can't come home not after what happened, I just thought you'd like to know I'm safe and I'm living with someone else, I love you."Cloe hung up and then cried on Billie Joe's shoulder.
"Hey, it'll be ok, you're here with me now."Billie Joe reassured her.
Cloe cried herslef to sleep in Billie Joe's arms.
Cloe woke up and looked over at the clock. It was 7.10pm.
"Billie Joe, wake up someone's at the door,what if it's my mom?!"
"Billie Joe woke up and the looked up at Cloe to see the fear in her eyes.
"Cloe she doesn't know where I live."
"I suppose you're right."
Billie Joe kissed her and then went ot answer the door. To Cloe's relief Mike and Tre walked in carrying beer and pizza.
"Hey Cloe what's wrong ?"Mike said he could see Cloe's cheeks were stained with mascara.
"It's ok, I just had an arguement with my mom I'll explain later."
"I got food and beer to cheer you up."Tre said passing Cloe a beer.
The four of them sat in the livingroom eating pizza and drinking beer while Cloe explained about the arguement and how she was going to move in with Bilie Joe.
"Man, that's pretty bad, why didn't you tell us before about this?"Tre said his mouth full of pizza.
"I just didn't want to worry you guys I guess, I thought you would have second thoughts about being my friend because I was insecure or somethin."
Billie Joe looked hurt, Cloe could see this.
"That was back then when I just met you, I didn't know you as well then."
"Well you know that we're not like that now though."Billie Joe leaned forward and kissed Cloe on the cheek and gave her a hug.
"Are you feeling bettter now?"
"Yeah I suppose, my mom's not bothered to call me though, I think she hates me now."Cloe's eyes began to fill up.
"Hey, it's ok we'll look after you, oh I forgot to mention something pretty important, I should have told you guys before."Tre said.
