The Boys Are Back In Town, chapter 1
They stood in the rain looking at eachother. Both pairs of emerald green eyes, meeting with hatred, anger but also friendship. Could what had happened between them, be resolved with a simple apology or was it more than that.
‘Listen Tre I’m sorry’, Billie told his friend. The rain was coming down heavier, and around them was getting darker. Billie waited for an answer.
‘Don’t be’, Tre told him, sensitively. What had happened had happened for a reason.
‘I think you should go back and talk to Rachel’, Billie suggested to him.
‘Why she broke up with me for a reason’, Tre let out devastated. He took a seat on the steps of the old hang out; they used to play around when they were kids. Billie followed him, but didn’t take a seat, thinking it might have been better if he gave his friend the space he needed.
‘You never know, she might have just been like that because of a way she was feeling’, Billie suggested, trying to push the point that he thought they should have spoken earlier to have avoid the fight that did happen.
‘No, Billie she told me, she hated me and that she couldn’t believe that she actually dated a guy like me’, he told Billie in a harsh tone. Tears were coming to his eyes, but he kept them back, not wanting to show any emotion at this time.
‘Well what about your fight with Mike’, Billie asked, taking a seat at this stage. He thought that the subject of his two closest friends fighting affected him as well.
‘Mike and I spoke about it. He’s fine with it, he knows I just lost it and took it out on him’, Tre said, pulling out a joint from his pocket and lighting it.
‘You know you should be on an influence like that at a time like this’, Billie told him, in concern.
‘It wont hurt, I just want to get a little happier before I have to go home’, Tre replied.
‘Yeah but Tre its an influence, you don’t know what it might make you do’, Billie told him, taking it from his mouth and dropping it to the ground.
‘Alright. Alright. Promise I wont’, Tre told him. The two sat in the darkness of Christie Road, for a while longer, not really talking about anything.
‘You going to be alright getting home?’, Billie asked Tre concerned about what he’s friend might do if he was left alone.
‘Yeah, I’ll be fine’, Tre said, getting up. He couldn’t really walk straight, from all the drinking he had done earlier had affected him quite quickly.
‘No listen I’ll take you home’, Billie told him, putting an arm around his friend to keep him, standing up right.
Tre pushed him away.
‘Billie don’t, I don’t need your help’, Tre told him viciously.
‘Mate I was only trying to help you’, Billie told him, apologetically.
‘Well I don’t need your help’, Tre told him, walking away slowly. He turned after a few steps.
‘Listen Billie........’, he finished before collapsing to the ground.
‘Tre, Tre’, Billie called shaking him slightly to try and wake him. Tre opened his eyes, slowly after a few minutes looking up at his friend. The rain was getting heavier but Billie didn’t seem to mind, all he was worried about was the state his friend was in.
‘Tre, listen your coming home with me tonight’, Billie told him sternly.
‘Billie, I’m sorry’, Tre let out, sympathetically.
The two boys slowly picked them selves up off the ground and made their way to the bus shelter catching the next bus that arrived to the stop before Billie’s.
-BILLIE’S PLACE-
‘Listen, mate, Mike’s coming over as well, since my mum and Brad won’t be home’, Billie informed Tre.
‘Yeah that’s cool’, Tre told him, closing his eyes for a moment and then re-opening them again.
‘Tre you alright?’, Billie asked curiously. It wasn’t like Tre to be this quiet, even if his heart was broken.
‘Can you hear the music, that’s playing?’, Tre asked him. Billie listened, and quietly in the distance, music played from someone’s room.
‘Yeah what about it?’, Billie asked.
‘That was our song. The first one we heard when we saw eachother’, Tre whispered, a few tears came to his eyes, but he managed to keep them back.
‘Tre, just block it out. Come on, after everything she’s done to you, why are you still thinking of her like that?’, Billie asked him.
‘Cos I just lost her, she’s left me for some one else who’s better than me in everyway. She was my special girl, and now she’s gone Bill. Just like vanished into thin air’, Tre told him, this time, a few tears ran down his face.
‘Listen, she hurt you. You will find someone more perfect than she would ever be, trust me’, Billie told him.
‘You think?’, Tre said, taking up the full length of the couch.
‘Yeah you will’, Billie told him. There was a knock at the door, so Billie left Tre and answered it, hoping it to be Mike.
‘My own special girl’, Tre thought to himself, before he slowly closed his eyes and he fell asleep..
