buried alive by love, chapter 2

The club was as dark as his heart but provided a warmth that he was so indeed of. He sat down on a stool by the bar, ordered a drink and settled down into his thoughts. He went over all the times they had spent. Every time she had been there for him after shows when things had got tough with Billie and Mike she had always been taking care of him. Hours had passed and he had not moved from that spot downing one drink after another barely savouring its taste. His mind was a haze of the past as he staggered over to one of the various girls working around the club.

The smell in the club was musty and suited his mood. He sat himself down at a small table in the corner. He rubbed his eyes; they had become heavy and dull. Why had she gone, left him like this? The waitress interrupted his thought train. His eyes flowed up her curvy body and met with her chocolate eyes. She smiled. "What would you like?"
"What?" She entranced him, the way she spoke, how she nibbled on her bottom lip.
"To drink, what would you like?"
"Oh sorry, um a beer would be good."
"Bud light ok?"
"Sure." He observed as she scribbled it down on her pad and tucked some of her fringe behind her ear.
"By the way my name's Mandy, I'll be back in a moment ok?" with that she walked off in he direction of the bar. The smell from the club was overwhelming, intense smoke filed his lungs as he inhaled deeply. It was a smell that he recognised as he used to smoke stuff like this with the guys in the earlier days of the band. He settled down at the far side of the bar and began drinking for his newborn son. He watched as she curved her body around the pole, moving up and down with ease. Her hair falling down her back. Her face never changing as the men around her hackled and shoved dollars down her panties. Anger filled him with how little they respected her but then again that would have been him on any other night. She smiled cheekily as she sat down in the leatherette seat opposite him. Her hair was no longer in the tight ponytail but staggering around her shoulders. "So what brings you here?"

"Usual reasons." She pouted her lips a little and started to speak but nothing came out and she resumed her silence. "So um how far to do you live from here?"
"Oh well about half an hour." He noticed her heavy English accent.
"Well I know this is a bit odd considering we just met and all and feel free to tell me to get lost but do you fancy coming back to mine?" His head was swimming with madness when he got up on the table and began to dance, it was a miracle that he didn't fall off and break his neck. The evidence of his drinking lay spilt and smashed all around him as he fell wit a thud on to the bar and dosed off into a deep sleep.

"I heard you cry out loud
All the way across town
You've been searching for that someone
And it's me out on the prowl
As you sit around feeling
Sorry for yourself..."
