Angel's Lullaby (sequel to Where Do Broken Hearts go?), chapter 7

"Do you boys think you can keep an eye on the ham while we go and pick up some last minute things?" I asked, eyeing Billie, Mike and Tre. It was Christmas Eve, and Taylor and I were going to take advantage of the sales that the few stores still open were having. Billie nodded.

"Go on we can take care of things." He said.

"Yeaaaa, and you know we won't even THINK about trying to find where you hid our presents." Tre added wiggling his eyebrows. Mike elbowed him playfully as if to say "you had to go and open your mouth didn't you."

"You'll never find them anyways. Charlie and I hid them quite well." Taylor added. We both giggled. Joey ran up to me.

"Can't we pleeeease come Charlie?" he asked, doing his best impression of his father's puppy dog face. I ruffled his hair and knelt down and gave him a kiss.

"No little man. Someone has to stay here and watch over these children." I said, motioning to Billie, Mike, and Tre. Taylor and I walked out the door.

"We'll be home in time to make you look presentable before the party." Taylor yelled back into them. We didn't however get home on time to make even ourselves presentable. We were absolutely terrified to walk in the door, because we were expecting to find the house in total chaos.

"Wow." Taylor and I said unanimously. The house was immaculate, and Joey and Jake, along with Billie, Mike, and Tre were all dressed in their new Christmas Eve party outfits. Since there was nothing else to do Taylor and I were able to be ready on time before our guests arrived. There were people I knew, people I didn't know, famous people and friends. I also got to meet Adrienne's parents. The party was a blast, and at around 9 everyone left. Joey and Jake opened their new pajamas, a tradition I had started and went to bed while Billie and I read them The Night Before Christmas. Billie and I had one more glass of champagne with Taylor, Mike and Tre before they all went home.

"Wasn't that nice?" I said to Billie as we turned down the covers on the bed.

"Oh yes. Full of Holiday cheer. What's wrong though?" he asked. I hadn't really been myself lately.

"Just thinking about my father is all. I feel guilty." Billie pulled me toward him and gave me a kiss.

"He did it out of love. You didn't force him, you didn't know."

"Yea, but still. I don't know. I'm never gonna get rid of the tiny bit of angel. I wish we could talk to him. I really do. Not just me, but you too. It would make me feel better." I said. "Oh well I'm sure I'll let go soon." I gave a weak smiled, and lay down next to Billie. All of a sudden we were whooshed out of bed, still wearing our pajamas.

"Holy fuck!" Billie shouted. "Are we...are we in?"

"Yeap." I replied.
