Angel's Lullaby (sequel to Where Do Broken Hearts go?), chapter 9
**9 Months Later**
"OK Charlie. You just keep doing your breathing techniques you were practicing OK?" Dr. Rodriguez said in his calm, sweet voice. "It's almost time to push."
"I want drugs." I said matter-of-factly. The pain was completely unbearable. To be honest I felt as if I was about to die a very long very painful death.
"Honey we already gave you pain killers."
"I don't care. I want more." Dr. Rodriguez just looked at me and laughed. Sure, easy for him to do. He didn't have any kids, and even if he did it wasn't him who had to experience the pain. Damn this hurts. I thought to myself. I turned to Billie, who was standing next to my bed, practically cowering away from me, since seconds ago I was threatening to pull a Lorena Bobbit on him.
"Billie I'm gonna die. The. Pain. It. Hurts." I said pausing between words.
"No, no, no. You're not gonna die. You're gonna live for a very very long time and have lots and lots of other babies." At this I gave him a look that would send terror through the heart of the devil, but being Billie, he just laughed. The doctor checked once more to see if I was dilated enough.
"OK honey. It's time." I let out a small whimper and next thing I knew Billie was holding my hand and letting me squeeze and I was pushing like there was no tomorrow. I don't know how long I pushed, but I know that it hurt like hell. Just when I felt as if I was going to either be pushing forever, or die from exhaustion Dr. Rodriguez spoke. I had no idea what he had said. Billie gave my hand a squeeze and I snapped out of my trance.
"One more baby. Just one more. You can do it. You're the strongest woman I know." He said. He smiled at me with a mixture of pride, admiration, and adoration. "I love you," he said, and I pushed with all my might, just for him. Two seconds later there came a loud cry and Billie kissed me on the forehead before he rushed to cut the umbilical cord.
"It's a girl!" Billie shouted. "The first one too! She's 6 pounds 2 ounces." He said. The doctors cleaned off the baby as Billie Joe walked back over to me and put his arm around me.
"You did it Char." he said as they handed us our brand new baby girl.
"She's so beautiful." I said.
"Yea she is." Billie said. "Her name fits her perfectly." Dr. Rodriguez peaked in to ask if it was OK to allow our visitors in and we both nodded. In walked Tre, Joey, Jake, Mike, and the 4 month pregnant Taylor. Funny how her an I were so in tune that we got pregnant five months apart.
"Am I finally an aunt?" Tre said, causing the entire room, including the doctors, to erupt in laughter.
"Yes." Billie said. "Everyone meet Rory Marie Armstrong."
