Not Your Average Cover Teacher, chapter 2

"Show you? But you're the greatest drummer on the planet, how can I drum in front of you?"

Em looked at Tre, waiting for a reaction. He thought for a moment, then smiled. Without a word, he grabbed her waist and maneuvered her over the stool, then plunked her down.

"Enough excuses, play!"

So she did, she drummed liked she'd never drummed before. The thrill of being at the kit as well as the fact she knew Tre Cool was standing behind her watching her every move took her to that place she entered every gig, where there was nothing but her and the kit. She didn't stop until she heard a crack, and turned to see Tre standing with half a drum stick in his hand, his face split into a huge grin.

"That was freaking awesome!" He cried. "How long have you been playing?"

"Four years, since I was twelve, like you."

Tre nodded his head, then looked up at the clock.

"Look, there's no point in us staying here; you've just wrecked the last decent pair of sticks, and the rest of the class has gone. Fancy going for a coffee?"

"Yeah sure. Wait a minute..." Em stood up shaking her head. Tre frowned at her. "Sorry, just realized what just happened. Wow, I'm going for coffee with Tre Cool!"

Tre chuckled, grabbed his bag, and steered Em out of the room. They had just about reached the front door when they heard a voice behind them.

"Excuse me, Mr. Cool, where are you going?"

Tre turned round to see the principal behind them, and doing what any sensible person would do, he grabbed Em's hand and ran for it. They made it to his car and were away before they could be stopped, both of them pissing themselves laughing.
