Castaway, chapter 1

She woke up from a strange sound, sighed, swore and tried going back to sleep. Futile. The noise kept on. She gave up and went over to the window, while cursing the person who swept the street at this time. She took a glance at her alarm.

***2 PM***

OK, so it wasn't that early after all but that wasn't the point. She was tired and wanted to sleep, people shouldn't be sweeping the road when she was tired. It wasn't good for her mood. As she reached the window she saw the landlord sweeping the drive of the newly built house. Cleansing it from the leftover sand and what-else from the building works. A job her mother had actually told her to do. Having realized that her anger faded and she went into the shower.
"Fuck!" there was no hot water. She quickly slipped into some close and rushed outside but he was already gone.
They always seemed to have bad luck with heating no matter where they lived and that had been basically everywhere and everywhere had had all kinds of heating-systems. Something was always wrong. It was like a curse.
"Damn it" She went back into the bathroom to have a cold shower. Switching on the coffee machine it suddenly all came back. She tried to repress it but it just wouldn't work. Thinking of what had happened the night before she suddenly had the urge to throw up.

***

She had been looking forward to this night all week. Finally she could just forget about school, be with her friends, party and have a few or little more drinks. It was a long way to drive, but since it was the only place that played punk and metal they didn't care. Everyone got their drink and she stood there just watching what happened around her. It was only 10 PM so the place was only just starting to fill up. She loved just watching all the different kinds of people that came here. The dance-floor was practically empty just a few punks with hair of various colors jumping around randomly. The place was pretty big. Three huge bars surrounding the dance-floor. There was a huge sitting area through which you could go outside only to find another huge sitting area. She loved having the possibility to go outside because as the night went on it always got unbearably hot. Her thoughts were interrupted when Jane poked her in the side.
"Can you just hold on to my drink?"
"Sure."
She headed into the direction of the toilets. The first accords of 'Take me out' blared out of the man-sized speakers.
"Why didn't Joan come?" She asked Ron, who had just returned with his beer.
"She's gotta go to birthday party! Family thing."
"Oh shit."
"I hope that's the last one for tonight," She said nodding towards his beer. You are driving.
"'Course. Besides we won't be leaving for a while."
She smiled "I should hope not"
Joan was Ron's girlfriend. They were the perfect couple, not boring perfect. A passionate relationship with all the jagged edges kind of perfect.
"Hey Ho!" Matt shouted as he jumped onto Ron.
Matt. Another reason why she had been looking forward to this night. They had made out twice in the past. She had always been in love with him, and Ron always said that Matt felt the same way, that he was just to scared. Not knowing what to think, she just told everyone who knew that she had fallen out of love with him, thinking it might even become reality.
