They Changed My Life, chapter 9

After spending a minute or so cleaning CDs, dirty clothes, and magazines off the bed and dumping all of the stuff on the floor, Billie Joe turned to me. "You sleep here tonight. I'll take the couch." I walked over to him and gave him a hug.
"Thanks for being a great friend," I whispered into his neck. I meant it, too. I felt completely safe around him. He returned the hug and said,
"Anytime." I sat down on his bed and he smiled at me. After Billie Joe shut the door, I walked over to one of the many junkpiles that littered his floor. Viva La Junkpile! I thought. Picking up a pair of relatively clean looking boxers, I took off my shoes and jeans and slipped them on. I snuggled into Billie Joe's comforter and quickly went to sleep.

His face was looming over me. Grinning evily, he pulled out the butcher knife he had just used to kill my best friend. I was lying on the cold concrete, shivering uncontrollably. "Now it's your turn bitch," he snarled.
