Before They Were Green, chapter 4

In Billie's yard

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLIE!!!!!" the Armstrong clan yelled. Billie smiled and blew out his candles. He looked at the numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins at his party.

*SMOOSH*. Alan, Billie's brother pushed his head into his cake.

"Alan!" Ollie groaned. Billie slowy took his head off the cake and slowly wiped the white icing from his eyes. Then he got up and ran after the laughing Alan.
"YOU'RE GONNA PAY YOU-"
"BILLIE! THERE ARE YOUNG EARS!" Ollie yelled. Billie tackled Alan and smeared his face with the icing off his own.

"Cousin Billie?"asked 6-year-old Marie, Billie's cousin.
"Yeah?" Billie asked.
"Do you want to play ball?"
"Sure kiddo," Billie smiled.

Pretty soon all the teenage Armstrong's took over the game of ball, laughing and tackling each other. Billie was in a game of tug-o-war with the ball with his sister and brother. He yanked with all his might and they all fell to the ground. Billie laughed and got up,whipeing the green grass-stains that littered his stone-washed jeans.
The sun was slowly setting in the Californian sky, turning it a deep orange flecked with pink. Alan and Anna Armstrong(Billie's siblings) gathered firewood and help make a bonfire. The bonfire grew high as the whole Armstrong family gathered around it, roasting marshmellows and cracking jokes. Pretty soon the night grew old and the sky turned a midnight blue, stars were peeking out hinting that all the uncles, aunts, and cousins should leave.

Billie rubbed his arms for there was a cool breeze, making him shiver. He was the only one left outside. He looked up at the now black sky, skattered with stars. He found the biggest one and made a wish. He wish his band would make it big, then his dreams would come true. He turned around and faced his house. He smiled at the glowing orange lights coming from the windows and the flickering of the tv set in the livingroom. He walked into the place that he loved, the place he could call home.

*Same night at 9:00*

"Mom? can I go to the elementary school with Mike and hang out on the playground?" Billie yelled to his mom.
"Yeah sure, if you are careful honey and be back home by ten," Ollie called.
Billie walked out the screen door, it creaked as he shut it. He stepped out onto the dark porch and into the cool night air. He was just turning into the school when he saw a dark figure doing the same. "Hey Mike," he called.
"Hey Bill!" Mike called back. They met up and sat on the old swings, wrapping their hands around the cold chains and pumping their legs a bit, just to get moving.
"So how was the family party?" Mike asked.
"It was actually pretty fun," Billie smiled, reminicing on the fun time he had just a few hours ago.

Billie looked at Mike but could barley so him through the dark.He could however see his face with the help of the moonlight, shining on one side, making his strong jawline stand out,and shasowing the other.
"You Okay?" he asked Mike.
"Yeah. It's just I really hope Sweet Children makes it big," he smiled cheesily.
"Yeah me too I..."
"BILLIE! WATCH OUT!!!!"
