Angels, chapter 3

There's a sound.

It's just noise, a sign of life.
An every- day automatic tool,
a pointless, imitating fudge
upon the world outside.

There's his voice.

He's screaming her name.
Over and over again,
begging her to come and hold him,
begging her to stay again.

I hold him even tighter, closing my eyes in pain.

It's not the first time,
and it sure won't be the last,
that he's on the floor screaming for her.

I stroke his face as he screams,
trying to comfort him as much as I can.
'Cause even in my position this is a hard job.

He gives everything to her.
He cries all those tears for her,
in all the love he's holding inside.

I grab him by the wrists
and make him sit up against the wall
as I can hear footsteps coming closer,
and I know who's about to enter the room.

She sneaks in,
falling onto her knees in front of him,
grabbing his hands as she does.

He's gazing at her,
closing his eyes in gratitude towards the sky.
He's pulling her closer and wraps his arms around her.

She's crying, too.
She's always crying,
whenever a thing like that happens.
When they fell out and said things;
Things they didn't really mean,
or didn't want to say.

I place a kiss on both of their cheeks.

I love them both,
I love them for the couple they are.
But still, sometimes I think I shouldn't be watching them.
Because sometimes I think I love him more than I probably should.

He kisses her face and tells her he loves her.
He does, I know it,
they same way she loves him.

She's kissing the palm of his hand,
as a promise.
