Can You Bang Like a Drummer Can?, chapter 1

-NOTE: perspective of teenage kids at school-

A kiss in the dark is a kiss in the dark. A kiss in the rain is a kiss in the rain. And I guess a kiss with Tre is a kiss with Tre. Not that many people care. I mean he is only the hardest guy to get with at Rodeo High. I mean come on; we're talking about a Gilman Street drummer here. He was big. Everyone knew him and if they didn't personally know him they knew of him. He was like a damn angel. There was nothing wrong about him; he was perfect in every imaginable way possible to the female species. That was until his reputation was slightly ruined at a party a few months ago. Let me tell you know Tre, alcohol and girls don't mix well. I won't go into detail of what happened but I can tell you know it was hard on him. He lost respect from almost everyone. Except me of course. I still couldn't find a fault in him.

That afternoon at school we both had art class. It was probably the only time Tre and I got to spend alone without the rest of the gang. Not that Tre cared, we was to busy painting and being creative to impress others. Females. Not me. I had no chance. It was better for me not to even try. As usual I stayed in the corner of the art room flicking paint all over my canvas trying to make something out of all the mess. That was until I felt something tap me on the shoulder. I flicked the brush back and turned around.

"OMG I'm so sorry," I let out quietly.
"It's fine, its fine I should have been careful," Tre said wiping a stripe of red paint from the side of his face.
"You okay?" I asked shyly. He nodded.
"Yeah I just needed to know if you had any black left?" he asked. I shook my head.
"I can get you some though, come to the supply room," I said walking off wiping my hands on my smock. He followed without heist. I turned on the light in the art room so we weren't in the dark and got up on the step ladder to get the paint down from him. I felt a tug at my shirt. I looked down. No one was there. I continued getting the paint down and steeped off the stool to turn around being confronted by a male's chest. I looked up. Tre smiled back down.
"Here you go," I said quietly offering it to him. He took it and smiled. I tried to find a way around him but I was stuck in. I felt him push my hair from in front of my face behind me ear.
"You know," he whispered. "If you had a hair cut and didn't put so much eyeliner on you could be really pretty."
"Tre I don't wanna be pretty. I just wanna be myself," I told him walking out leaving him in the supply room.

-AFTER CLASS-

I made my way up to my brother and his best friend with their girlfriends. I wondered why I was the only person in the year level not to be kissed yet. Then again the whole school had been kissed apart from me.
"OMG it's Pippet alone again," my brother joked.
"Michael shut up," I forced out sitting in-between them. Billie Joe cuddled Kaylee closer then usual. I was wondering how their relationship was going. I mean after the party and all, she had found him sleeping with another girl.

Slowly she tried to get out of his grip. I could tell she didn't want to though. She still loved him. Even after the entire heart break he had put her through.
"Kaylee don't please," he whispered resting his head on her shoulder. She leant back into him gently and let him keep his arms around her. I swear they were the cutest couple I had even seen. After everything that had happened, moving, heartbreak parents divorcing and remarrying they found away to keep each other happy. It was sweet. It was cute. It was adorable. Soon after the cuddle the couple left to walk home. I hoped everything was going to be alright. Kaylee didn't seem to be herself, and when she wasn't herself things could get hectic.

"Mikey we going home?" I asked. I turned around only to see him and his girlfriend kiss in front of me. "OMG GET A ROOM FOR GOD SAKES."
"Oh Pippet shh, you'll be like this one day," his girlfriend Cassie told me as they started to follow me on the walk home.
"Sure I will be," I said in a sarcastic tone.
"Oh you will Pippet you just have to find someone who's like you," Mike told me putting an arm around Cassie. The two continued kissing all sweet and adorable.
"Mike, I've tried...you know how hard it is to find a crazy, psychopathic, destructive, insane drummer boy around here? Its not like he's just gonna fall from the sky...OHHHH," I squealed hitting the ground.

Mike and Cassie stopped making out to make sure I was okay. I rubbed my eyes and tried for force what had fallen on top of me off.
"Hey don't push, I'm getting up," a familiar voice said. I looked around and then up.
"Oh its you," I said blankly looking up at Tre who had positioned himself right on top of me.
"What, you're not happy to see me?" he asked looking down.
"Why would I be happy to see you?" I asked in a stand offish tone.
"Ohh bitch patrol! Is it that time of the month sweetie?" he asked with a smile.
"You'd be the last person to find out," I declared forcing him off.

He fell backwards.

"Touchy, touchy."
"You wouldn't dare touch me."
"Why would I want to?"
"You did today in the art room."
"DUDE YOU TOUCHED MY SISTER?"
"Mike no, it wasn't like that."
"Tre just go."
"Pippet... I wanted to talk to you though."
"About what?"
"Stuff."
"Like?"
"You know stuff."

I looked at him for a minute trying to see if he was serious or not.
"Listen I gotta get home but I'll call you alright?" he said saying goodbye to Cassie and Mike before making his way home.
"See Pippet, they do fall out of the sky," Mike teased.
"Oh shut up," I said sternly continuing to walk home.

-LATER THAT NIGHT WITH BILLIE JOE AND KAYLEE-

The two awkwardly sat side by side on the couch. Billie yawned and placed his arm around her shoulders leaning in a little. Kaylee moved from where she was.
"Honey don't be like this?" he pleaded like a little kid. She shook her head.
"Until I can trust you again, I don't want you here at night," she told him. He looked up at her, lips partly separated and eyes glowing green. "Billie Joe please just leave."
"Kaylee... ."
"Billie Joe just leave." He did as he was told, hanging his head on the way out as he walked home. Knowing it was to far to walk home in the middle of the night he detoured and walked to Mike's place. Mike was his buddy. He's best friend. Billie was sure he wouldn't mind. He made his way up to the door took the key from the loose brick and opened it walking inside.
"Wonder where he'd be?" he thought walking up the stairs. He got to Mike's door and knocked.
"I wouldn't go in there if I was you," he heard a voice say. He looked over to see me standing in the hallway in my pajama's. A weird sight I know but it was late and I was tired.
"Never knew you wore purple?" Billie said smiling.
"If you tell anyone I'll kill you," I warned him.
"Your secret is safe with me," he pledge holding a hand to his heart. I smiled.
"Better be. You hungry?"
"Kinda."
"Come on I'll get you something." I told him walking downstairs. I did as best I could not to bring up Kaylee as a subject. I pushed his hot chocolate over to him.
"Marshmallows?"
"You know me too well."
I smiled and pushed them over as well. He didn't seem to fussed about the subject. That's when the phone rang.
"Shouldn't you get that?"
"Nah the answering machine can get it."

That's when it happened. The most random and unmethodical thing to ever happen to me.

"Pippet, I know you're home pick up."

"You going to pick up?" BJ asked. I shook my head.
"Lets see what happens."

"Pippet... I wanna be your dominated love slave. I wanna be the one who takes the pain. You can spank me when I do not behave, smack me in the forehead with a chain... "

I got up and ran to the phone.
"Hello."
"Ahh hi," he replied.
"Nice machine message," I told him. He could hear Billie laughing in the background and could probably tell I was about to have a laughing fit.
"Thanks I like it too," he said giggling.
"So..." I asked awkwardly wondering why on earth Tre would ring me.
"Ahh yeah," he coughed cutely, "I was wondering."
"You were wondering what?" I asked.
"Do you give drum lessons?".
"You're a drummer why do you need lessons?" I asked.
"Just like learning stuff from other drummers that's all."
"Well then yeah I still give lessons."
"So like tomorrow night?"
"What about after school."
"That's cool...I'll ahh see you then"
"Alright, night Tre"
"Night"

That was probably the oddest phone conversation I had ever had. Then again it was with Tre so who knows.

"You alright Pip?" BJ asked. I smiled and hung up.
"Yeah fine...looks like I'm giving Mr. Wright drum lessons tomorrow..."
