September Will Never End, chapter 5

So, I was thrown into jail without bail as I awaited the start of my trial. Like I gave a shit about bail, anyway. I was not going to pay anyone anything. I had to wait in there a few days for the trial to begin- mainly because I was being a "nuisance." I refused to hire a lawyer, and the lawyer I was provided, I ignored.

A few days later, the trial began. I was just glad it was not broadcasted. I don't really care what people think of me, but that bitch had said I was going to kill Jakob in some maniac way. Fucking idiot...

She was being hailed as a hero. Some hero... if my mind serves me right, and I believe it does, she was BEGGING me for mercy and was too SCARED to tell anyone who had harmed her. Oh well, her stories and such added to my already demented connotation. Her lies made everyone fear me.

But I digress...

The trial went rather quickly. I didn't see why it wouldn't. After all, I did ignore my lawyer's advising, and plead guilty to about all the charges. There was only one I refused to plead guilty to, and that was the one saying that I was going to kill Jakob. Even if he hadn't left, I wouldn't hurt him. Looking back, though, I wish I would've denied every single one of the charges... just to make the trial longer and more painful for her.

She cried on the bench. She lightly touched her face as the pictures of her bruises were shown to the jury. Her "lover" cried as she told everyone how I forced her to tell Jakob to go away before I, as she lied, "slit his throat, gauge out his eyes, and force her to eat them."

It was hard to NOT laugh at her. Actually, I don't know why I didn't laugh... Oh well...

The trial ended the day after it started. My stupid lawyer sat next to me trying to figure out how to get me the least amount of time served as the judge glared at us. He hated me, but with one glare back, that hate turned to fear. It was then that the jury came back out. Everyone held their breath. What a bunch of fucking idiots... It was quite obvious I was guilty. I already knew that. They knew that. Everyone knew that.

The foreman read aloud the guilty verdict. Everyone cheered, except for my lawyer. Hell, I even cheered- just to rain on everyone's parade. They all quieted down and looked at me, confused. I continued cheering and even shook a few hands from the people sitting behind me. The judge pounded his wooden gavel and ordered me to quiet down. I heard someone behind me say that I should have plead insanity... they would've believed it.

I looked over at Adrienne's husband. He was too busy comforting her to notice me. Adrienne, however, did. She turned and stared straight at me. Tears and pain filled her eyes. I felt a slight twinge in my heart. After everything, she still did have some of my compassion...

I barely heard the judge deliver my sentence, "Mr. William Mills, I order you to serve a sentence of ten years."

I blew Adrienne a kiss.

The End.
