What Mysterious Figure?, chapter 11
The front door was left completely open, and there was a note taped to it. The note read, "We know who you are, but what about us? You'll figure it out if you complete the scavenger hunt." Then, there was an arrow underneath the writing, pointing to the staircase. Adrienne walked toward the staircase, but was stopped at the bottom by Billie Joe.
"Adie, I don't think it's a very good idea if you go up there. It could be a trick. Tre and I will go upstairs and you and Mike search the downstairs for... well, anything... weird." Said Billie Joe in an I'm-trying-not-to-be-scared voice.
"How come I always have to go with Billie? Why can't I ever stay with Mike?" Asked Tre.
Mike replied, "Tre, this is not the time to worry about who you're with! This could be a potentially dangerous situation." Tre replied with a nod and ventured up the stairs with Billie Joe.
First, they checked Joey's room then Jakob's room. There was nothing strange or out of place at all. The rooms looked exactly as they had the last time Billie saw them. Tre and Billie decided to check the master bedroom. Nothing. Then, they checked the bathroom connected to Billie and Adie's bedroom, where they found their next 'clue'. The water was running in the shower and there was a post-it note on the mirror that read, "Check the shower". Billie couldn't bring himself to check the shower, afraid of what he might find, so Tre pulled back the curtain with extreme caution. Tre turned around to look at Billie, and saw a large amount of fear in Billie's eyes.
"Billie, it's okay. There wasn't anything in there except a tub full of hot water and a piece of paper with a picture of a flower vase on it." Tre explained, showing the picture to Billie Joe. After examining the picture Billie said, "Tre, that looks like one of Adrienne's plants out on the back porch."
The two rockers decided to head out back to where the flower vase was. Though, before going out back, they looked for Mike and Adrienne to make sure they were okay. Mike and Adie had already finished looking in the basement and most of the main floor. So, all four went out to the back patio only to find the vase with the beautiful flower in it to be shattered in hundreds of pieces. The only suspicious thing about the mess was that one of Billie Joe's guitar picks was mixed in with the dirt. They couldn't figure what it meant and why the pick was there. Finally, Adrienne had a thought. She knew the only place Billie kept guitar picks was in the music room upstairs.
"Guys, I think it means we should go to the music room." The three males gave her a questioning look. Adrienne continued, "That's the only place Billie keeps his picks. Meaning, whoever put the pick in the vase was up in the music room." A light bulb seemed to go on above Billie, Tre, and Mike's head because they raced to the music room.
After arriving in the music room, the four adults did a good look around to look for anything peculiar. Once again, everything was as it was left untouched. Then, all of a sudden Adrienne turned to look out the door of the music room, and Mike and Tre did the same as Adrienne screamed, "Billie! Look out!"
