What Mysterious Figure?, chapter 15
Finally, Billie Joe was released from the hospital and he and Adrienne headed home to prepare for helping Mike and Tre. When they were ready they headed to where Mike and Tre were, but the car ride was quiet and peaceful but the day ended up dangerous and terrifying.
"Billie... do you think they'll be all right?" asked Adrienne
"I hope so Adie, I really hope so."
Adrienne replied with a sniffle and Billie Joe looked at her to find her crying again.
"We have to be strong for our boys okay? I'm sure Joey, Jakob, and Mom are all fine. We have to stay strong through this... for them." Said Billie trying to comfort his wife some more.
"I know Baby, I know. It's just so hard knowing I can't help right now."
"But we'll help soon enough." Billie flashed Adrienne a comforting smile. "Adrienne, I promise you, we will help them and they will be safe." Adrienne replied with a nod.
The Armstrong couple pulled up in front of the warehouse and met Mike and Tre.
"Finally, you guys are here. You're never gonna guess what happened!" Said a very relieved Tre.
"What? What happened? Is everything alright?" Asked a scared Adrienne.
"The other man left! We can save your boys and Ollie!" Yelled Mike in reply to Adrienne's question.
"Great! I'll go get them. Adie, you stay in the car, Mike you watch the front door in case they return, and Tre, you come and help me."
Adie got into the car as she was told and locked all the doors and rolled up the windows. Mike stood at the front door and kept an eye out for the kidnappers return, while Tre and Billie Joe headed into the warehouse to save Ollie, Joey, and Jakob.
The warehouse was dark but with what little light they had they saw one person tied to a chair in three of the four corners of the building. The 3 kidnapped Armstrong's were each in their own corner tied to a chair and gagged. Billie Joe headed over to his mother and started untying her from the chair while Tre did the same to the Joey and Jakob. As the five of them were about to leave they heard a gun go off and a loud thump. The thump sounded as if it were a person falling to the ground. They all raced to the front door to see what had taken place, when they got there the sight they saw scared them all.
"Oh my God!" Said Tre quietly.
There on the ground lay an almost lifeless Mike bleeding from his chest.
Mike painfully whispered, "Save... Adrienne... he's headed... for her."
Billie told Ollie, his sons, and Tre to all stay with Mike while he headed for Adrienne. Tre called 911 and Billie ran in the direction of his car that Adrienne was supposed to be safe in.
He finally reached it just as the man, who's face was still covered with a ski mask, punched and broke the passenger window just to get to Adrienne. Adrienne was pleading with everything she had for her life. When Billie reached the car, he attacked the mystery man and they began to fight. As the two men fought Adrienne frantically called the cops from her cell phone.
Soon after she hung up with the 911 dispatcher she saw the man fighting Billie had a gun and the two men began wrestling for it.
Then, two more shots were fired.
