What Mysterious Figure?, chapter 16
Billie Joe had been shot in the leg and the kidnapper had been shot in the stomach. Billie and the man were raced to the hospital along with Mike.
Tre drove Adie, Ollie, Joey, and Jakob to the hospital.
Billie sat in the waiting room with a few bandages and crutches. When his family arrived he immediately hugged Joey and Jakob and cried tears of joy because they were safe and in his arms again. As soon as the Joey and Jakob were done hugging their dad Billie looked over at Adrienne.
"Adrienne, come here babe." He said sweetly with more tears just like his wife. She practically ran into his arms and they shared the kiss that had the most passion either of them had ever put into a kiss. When they were done, they were both still crying. Adrienne looked at her husband.
"I almost lost you again..." She would have continued but Billie Joe planted a short kiss on her lips.
"Adrienne Armstrong, you will never lose me... to anything. Not even a bullet."
Adrienne smiled as she and Billie Joe shared another kiss. Then, Billie turned to Tre.
"Tre come over here buddy, I didn't forget you." Tre walked over and they had a friendly hug.
"I know it BJ. I know."
"Thank you so much for helping me Tre. You have no idea how much this means to me... you and Mike saved my family. I'll never forget that."
"Anything for a friend."
They waited for hours to see how Mike was doing. Many hours and many more cups of coffee later a doctor finally came out to tell them the news.
"We had to surgically remove the bullet from his chest, he is very weak, and may have trouble speaking, he'll need to stay here for awhile but you may visit him now."
They all headed to his room and as they entered he turned his head and smiled at them. That was typical Mike, always smiling, even in a situation as tough as this one.
They all hugged him carefully so they didn't hurt him. Then Adrienne and Billie began to thank him for saving Ollie and their children.
Mike replied with a smile and said, "I'm positive you would do the same for Tre or myself. Besides, like I said before I left, Tre and I would do anything for you boys. Even if it meant taking a bullet in the chest."
