The Extraordinary Girl, chapter 1

He was running through the woods, from what, he didn't know. Suddenly he tripped over a dead branch. The taste of dried leaves filled his mouth. He looked up and saw someone standing over him. It's face was pure white, but not in a scary way. It was a glowing, bright white. It had a white garment that seemed to blow in the wind—but there was no wind.
He should have felt scared, but he didn't. He was just lying there on the forest floor, looking at the mysterious figure. Suddenly it spoke to him.
"It's almost time... "

Billie Joe Armstrong woke up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. He squirmed around in his bed, trying to remember what had just happened. He closed his eyed as he tried to remember the face. Failing to recall it, he got out of bed and went to his vanity and stared at his reflection. His usually reddish-brown hair was jet black and his hazel eyes looked bloodshot from lack of sleep. Billie had been having the same dream for over a month now.
"Billie?" asked a sleepy voice form the bed. Billie Joe turned around to see his wife, Adrienne, sitting up and half awake, her brownish hair in a tangled mess. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine, Adie," he replied.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Well, let's just say I'm having a hard time sleeping."
"Again?" Adrienne asked.
"Yeah."
There was a pause and Adrienne said quietly, "Was it that dream again?"
Billie nodded.
"What do you think it means?"
"I'm not sure, but pretty sure it's nothing," answered Billie.
"You can't call something that has been haunting your mind for six weeks nothing. It has to mean something."
"Maybe, but if there is, I don't know."
There was another pause where Adrienne started twirling her hair. Then she said, "Was there anything different?"
"Yeah," Billie Joe answered. "I know who the figure is. Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure it was God. And this time he spoke to me."
"What did he say?"
He shrugged. "All he said was, 'It's almost time' and then I woke up."
Adrienne looked puzzled. "Time? Time for what?"
"I have no idea, Adie."
"Well, let's think about it in the morning, Billie, you need to get some sleep. Mike and Tre are coming early tomorrow and you have a long year ahead of you."
Billie grinned. Tomorrow, his band mates were coming over to officially start their new tour, American Idiot and were leaving first thing in the morning. Billie Joe Armstrong played guitar and lead vocals. His best friend, Mike Dirnt, was the bassist and Frank Wright, aka, Tre Cool, was their drummer. Together they made up one of the best punk-rock bands ever—Green Day. It had taken them a little over 15 years to get to where they were now, from the release of Dookie in 1994 to now, 2005 with the release of American Idiot. All of them, at the age of 33, have been proclaimed "the most influential band of their generation".
"No, I feel a writer vibe coming to me." He yawned widely and looked at the clock. It was 2:17 in the morning. Billie suddenly felt tired. "On second thought, I think sleep will be good for me." He got back into bed next to Adrienne. She immediately went to sleep, but Billie stayed up a little longer. What do these dreams mean? Is God trying to tell me something? What is it time for? How soon is soon? Little did he know, that within 5 months time that Billie would experience one of the most life-changing experiences ever.
