We Meet Again, chapter 3

I woke up that morning a little confused. I felt someone's arms around my body. I looked to my right and saw Billie Joe.

He was naked. I was naked.

"Good morning," I heard him say. I looked up and smiled at him.

"Hi," I said shyly.

I was feeling a little guilty. His divorce wasn't even finalized yet. In a way, I felt like he was cheating on Adrienne with me.

But they are divorced... Well, at least almost divorced, I thought, trying to comfort myself.

"Billie Joe?" I said quietly.

"Yeah?"

I took a deep breath, "About what happened last night... Was it okay?"

"Yeah. It was great!" He smiled. I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Was this just something to help you get over Adrienne, or did it really mean something?" I asked nervously.

He thought for a second and swallowed the lump in his throat.

Oh, no. That isn't a good sign. My mind was reeling with a million different thoughts at once.

"I... I don't know," he croaked.

I felt like I was about to cry. Billie Joe saw this and lifted my chin so I was looking straight at him.

"I do love you. I always have loved you. Even after we broke up," he said and smiled sweetly.

"Then what do you mean 'you don't know'?"

"I think that part of me just needed comforting, so I slept with you. I know that's wrong and I am so sorry," he said and frowned.

"Need any more comforting?" I asked and wiggled my eyebrows at him. He laughed.

"Maybe..."

"Bye. I'll call you later," Billie Joe said and kissed my cheek.

"Bye," I waved to him as he stepped out my front door.

I bit my lip and smiled as I turned around and, literally, skipped into the kitchen.

I hadn't felt this way about someone for so long.

The phone started ringing. I answered it eagerly.

"He-llo?" I practically sang.

"Hey. I couldn't wait. I called you... thirty seconds after I left." It was Billie Joe. I giggled.

"I know. I am very...tempting," I said seductivly.

"That didn't make any sense," he laughed.

"I know."

"Shit!" I heard him yell.

"What's wrong, Bill?" I asked, scared.

"This car was way over the fucking line. Almost crashed his ass into me!" He said. I laughed softly.

"Are you sure you weren't the one over the line? You are on a cell phone..." I joked.

"Yes, I'm positive it was him."

"I'm gonna let you go, Billie. I don't want you getting into an accident."

"Okay, good idea. Bye... I'll talk to you later," he said.

"Yep. Bye," I said and hung up.

I felt my stomach growling and opened the fridge to look for something to eat when the phone rang again.

Thinking it was Billie Joe again I said jokingly, "Hello, sexy."

"Um... hi, Becca. It's Caroline," she said, a little worried.

I should seriously start checking the caller ID, I thought to myself.

"Oh, sorry. Hi," I said and laughed.

"It's okay. I wanted to know if you wanted to go out and get something to eat," she said.

"Uh, yeah. Sure," I said and closed the fridge.

"Okay. I'll pick you up in twenty minutes. Sound good?"

"Yeah. I'll be ready," I said.

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye," I said and hung up.

I handed my menu to the waiter after ordering my food. Caroline did the same.

After he walked away, Caroline turned to me and said, "What's going on with you and Billie Joe?"

I couldn't stop the smile from immediatly forming on my lips.

"I don't really know," I shrugged.

"Well, what happened after Tom and I left?" She gave me a suggestive look. I laughed a little.

"Why do you care?"

"Because you haven't been fucked for so long..." she said quietly.

"Carry!"

"What? It's true!" She defended herself.

"You don't know that," I said.

"Trust me. I do."

"Okay...?" I gave her a confused look.

"Whatever. Just tell me what happened," she demanded.

I didn't say anything.

"You guys fucked, didn't you?" A smile played across her face.

"It's none of your bussiness!" I laughed.

"If you didn't, you would just say no. So I know that you slept with him."

"Just drop it."

Caroline rolled her eyes.

"How was he?" She asked after about a minute of silence.

"I knew you weren't going to drop it," I sighed.

"Come on, Becca!" She whined. "You finally get laid and won't even tell me about it!"

I took a sip of my Coke and looked up at her.

"He was great. Happy?" I said, a little frustrated.

"Yes! I got you to say something!"

She suddenly frowned.

"Didn't you just meet him?" She asked.

I shook my head, "No. We dated for a while in high school. We lost touch after we broke up and then I bumped into him at a cafe, literally."

"Oh, right," she nodded. "Are you guys a couple again?"

"I don't know," I said honestly. "He just got divorced from his wife. And I think that last night was just a..." I hesitated. "One time thing?"

"A one night stand?!" She said, horrified.

"I don't know. I'm so confused right now," I rubbed my face with my hands.

Caroline understood that I didn't really want to talk about it anymore so she dropped it.

For the time being.
