This Is How Green Day Helped Me With My Life, chapter 17
I was sitting on my bed reading the newspaper. Billie walked in.
"Hey Emily."
I looked up from my newspaper.
"Hey Billie, what's up?"
Billie sat next to me and looked into my eyes.
"I missed you so much."
I put down my paper.
"I missed you too, Billie."
I hugged him and cried on his shoulder. Suddenly Billie was shaking me for no reason. "Emily, Emily, wake up."....
I woke up next to Tre.
"What's going on?"
"You fell asleep and were talking in your sleep," Tre had told me. I remembered what my dream was about, but couldn't believe it was a dream.
"Oh I'm sorry... but I have to go and talked to someone." I got up and told Tre I would be back later. I walked to Billie's house.
Obviously Billie wasn't getting off my mind. I walked up his drive way. I knocked on his door. Billie answered.
"Hey Emily, what's going on?" Billie invited me in.
"Billie, I have to talk to you." Billie and I sat on his couch.
"Where is Adrienne?" I asked him.
"She went to the doctors to get an Ultra Sound."
I nodded. I really didn't want to hear that.
"Ok, well remember like 5 or 6 years ago when you and I were together?" Billie nodded. "Yea I wanted to know... why did you leave me?" I looked at the floor.
"I got that letter from my dad saying he knew where I was and he was going to hurt you."
Billie's eyes lit up.
"What?"
I bowed my head. "Yea. Anyway... I left because I didn't want you to get hurt...but then something else happened." I said as my voice trailed off.
"Ok what happened?" Billie looked concerned. I didn't want to tell him but I had to. I can't keep this to myself.
"Um...I went over to Tre's to talk and I got upset. Then Tre hugged me and then one thing led to another."
Billie's face was blank. Then he looked at me.
"Why? Why did you do that?"
"Look, I'm sorry. Really. Please don't hate me!" I told him. I feel better that I told him and then I feel bad because I did and it hurt him.
I could tell Billie was so upset. He looked over at his watch.
"You better go. Adrienne will be here soon," Billie said sternly. I nodded and left to go back home.
I walked down the street thinking about things running through my head. These wired words kept running through my head. "I walk a lonely road the only one that I have ever known." What the hell does that mean and where did it come from? I guess it could be good for something.
I went home and wrote it down in my notebook. Then the phone rang.
"Hello?"
It was Tre.
"Yea? No, I just came home."
I told Tre I was going to stay home for a while. I'm going out with Liz tonight, you know, a girl night."
"Ok Emily. See you later."
I put the phone down and went down stairs where Liz was...
"Hey Emily."
