This Is How Green Day Helped Me With My Life, chapter 2

My dad had flung me against the wall and I blacked out. The next thing I remember was waking up to my mom shaking. "Emily, Emily. Are you alright?" I managed to nod my head. My mother helped me up. "Why don't you get a shower." My mother handed me some clean clothes and a clean towel. I went into the hot steamy shower. The heat felt soo good against my red marks and bruises. My mom started knocking on the door. "Emily you better get out. Your father will wake soon." I didnt want to leave. Neither did I want to get beat. I tuned off the shower and wrapped the clean towel around myself. I got in my usual long clothes. I was sore from the last night.
My mom had sent me out the door before my father woke up. I turned in my homework from what I did. I was in need of help for my father to stop I felt like talking to a counselor about my problems. But it would just make matters worse, my dad would find out and beat me until the cows land on the moon.
The bell rang for school to be over. I really didn't want school to be over. To me it just meant more torture for me and my mom. I started half way home when my mom drove up in her car and stopped me.
"Hunny get in the car. We're leaving." I saw my mom had packed all of our belongings. I opened the car and sat down the passenger seat. "where we going?" I asked her.
"We have to leave. Your father is just way out of control. If we leave now we will never have to see him again." My mom started down the street and turned to go to the hight way...

About after 8 days of non-stop driving except to stop and sleep we entered a state called California. We passed the state sign. "Welcome To California the Golden state." It looked decent. Hell any place were my father wasn't around was good enough for me. My mother pulled into a small driveway of a small house. "I think this a good place to be." My mother said to me smiling. Even though the house was small it was wonderful. To me it was a new start. New house, new people, new school, even maybe new friends.
I helped my mom unload the car. I picked out my room and bathroom. I decorated my new room. My mom entered my room giving me a hug from behind. "Looks good Emily." I hugged my mom back. "I love you."
"I love you to Emily. You will never have to worry about dad again." My mom encouraged me to go look around the neighborhood for people my age. There were a bunch of people like 10 and 13 year old but didn't come across people my age yet.
I walked into a dead end then a voice came behind me. I jusmped as I turned around. "Hey are you new here?" The kid asked me. "Uh yea. Why?"
The kid stepped closer to me. "You look like you're lost. Come on I'll show you around." I didnt hesitate to follow. I mean he seemed really nice, he looked nice too. He had jet black hair, green eyes and a smile that would kill. "My name is Billie Joe Armstrong. You may call me Billie. What's your name?"
"Emily." Billie smiled. "I like your name." I smiled "Thanks." That was like the first compliment in my life I have ever gotten other then from my mom. Bilie showed me everywhere around Oakland. That was the city we lived in, I soon found out.

"Billie?" Billie smiled. "Yes?" How old are you?" Billie bit his lip "16. You?"
"16 too. Are we the only people here our age?"
"No actually I want you to meet someone, my friends."
This was great. Maybe his friends we're going to be my friends. Billie led me to a little club sorta place. There were a lot of people there playing music. "Uh Billie where are we?"
"We're at Gilman street. Its where me and my friends hang out."
"Oh do you also play music?" I asked interested. "yea we do." I didn't know what he meant when he said "We do."
Billie introduced me to 2 nice people. "Emily this is Mike Dirnt, his real name his Pritchard but he got his last name by pretending to play the bass a school. And this is John Kiftmeyer aka Al Sorbrante." I shook both their hands...
