This Is How Green Day Helped Me With My Life, chapter 6
It was my senior year. Mike's and Al's too. Mike was concentrating in school along with his music. I have never seen anyone who was more focused on two things. Billie spent his days working with his mom at Rod's Hickory Pit and writing music. Al was finishing up his school year and was looking at colleges.
After school, I went to meet Billie at his house.
"Hey, Billie," I said at the door. Billie let me in and kissed me.
"Hey, how was school?" I shrugged.
"You know, the same. Oh, by the way, Mike couldn't make it to practice - he has some studying to do. I mean, we're graduating in one week." Billie grinned.
"Then you will be out of school and with me." I smiled.
"Oh yeah, Al did say he wants to practice tomorrow. He said it was important."
Billie looked confused. "Okay..."
"Sorry it's been so short, but I gotta go now because I have to get my school work done. In case you didn't know, I have final exams in two days." Billie looked disapointed, then happy.
"Okay, you go have fun, okay? Fun, fun, fun." I looked at him blankly.
"How can exams be fun? You get to stay in a room for four hours straight and take a test. Anyway, I gotta go. I'll call you," I told him, while leaving the door.
Billie waved 'bye' to me while waking down the walkway.
I reached my house.
My mom had started her new job and wouldn't be back 'til eight o'clock. I didn't hesitate to go in my room and start studying.
I was really into my studying until I heard some noises. It started to scare me, you know, with my dad and all. I walked to the window.
Thank God, it was only Billie throwing rocks at the window. I opened the window.
"Billie, I told you I would call you! Jeez."
"I know, but I got bored. Can I come up?" I nodded. Since my window went too far up, Billie decided to climb it.
He came through the window.
"Hey, Emily." I smiled and said 'hi.'
Billie noticed I was studying. "How long were you studying for?"
"Mmm... an hour. Why?"
"I think you need a break," Billie said, when moving in on me. I couldn't resist.
"Oh, okay."
Billie moved in, kissing me. We eventually moved to the bed. In between kissing, I managed a message through.
"Billie... I... need to... study."
Billie moved away from me and sighed in disbelief.
"Why don't you drop out?"
Why on earth did he say that?
"Billie, I'm graduating in one week." Billie looked mortified.
"Aww, I forgot," Billie said, hitting himself on the forehead. I gave him one last kiss before he climbed out the window.
"You know they invented doors," I said.
"Yeah, I know. It's more fun going through the window," Billie said.
I laughed. "Okay."
Yes! Here I am, I did it. I didn't even think I would live to see myself graduate from school. Billie came and watched the ceremony.
My mom was there, but not my dad. I don't even think he knows where we are, but who cares.
That night, Billie took me out for dinner to celebrate me graduating. Then we took a walk on the beach at midnight. It was really nice out.
"Thank you, Billie for being there for me." Billie had really helped me out since we moved.
Billie pulled out a black box and opened it.
I didn't know what was coming.
"Here, Emily. I got you this for your graduation and for being with me."
Billie pulled out a heart-shaped necklace.
"Oh my gosh."
It was really pretty.
Billie put around my neck. It glittered against the moonlight.
I kissed him again...
