Raising Juliet, chapter 16
Adrienne was sat on her own in the living room.The only peoplein wre her and Jakob who was asleep.She lay on the sofa watching television. Billie was making his new music video, Juliet and Joey were at Harrys'. She started dosing of then she heard some youthsin the street. She closed the blinds and locked all the doors just in case. She lay back down flicking threw the channels on tv. She finaly fell asleep. A guy dressed in black ran past the house.3 of his friends followed.They looked like black shadows that didnt belong to anyone. They were up to know good. "Are you sure we should be doing this?" the guy asked.
"Come on! What are you scared? No one's getting hurt. Remember you can replase things not people!" he laughed lighting a newspaper. The 4th guy pulled out a aerosol can and sprayed over the flame making a bigger one.
"What now?" the guy panicked.
"Shove it through the letter box!" They posted it and ran off. Inside it caught fire to the carpet. The flame worked its way to a plu socket and blew it up. The living room door crashed down. Adrienne suddenly woke.
"Oh my fucking god! JAKOB! JAKOB!" She was trapped. Jakob was not waking. She coudnt make it to any windows or the door. She stood on the sofa and thumped the ceiling. "Jakob!" She wanted her son safe. She grabbed the phone and dialled 911. The youths were hiding in the skips down the street from the house. They heard police cars and ambulance speeding down the street.
"Ow no, an ambulance! Do you think someone is hurt?" the 3rd asked.
"Nah! It's procedure ain't it!" the lead boy laughed.
"I dunno.Im starting to wish we hadnt had done it!" the 2nd sighed.
"Whatever!"
Billie Joe, Mike and Tre were watching the local news. "A women in her thirties is badly injured and 7 year old boy fighting for his life!" the tv said.
"Turn it off Tre it's depressing!" Billie said only just taking notice. Tre took no notice and cracked open another beer.
"I'm gonna see you later Juliet,Ok?" Joey said leaving Harry's house.
"Ok tell mom I'm sleeping over!" Juliet said hugging him goodbye. Joey walked down the streets past the dumpsters. He through in his empty bottle of Pepsi and carryed on walking.
"Hey it's that Joey guy!" He heard a whisper and stopped walking.
"Errrr. Hello!" he yelled. No answer. He shrugged and carried on walking. He turned around.
"Go away! Goooo!" He fell to the ground with a thud.
"In other news. Who we think could be a 10 to 12 year old boy has been violentley beaten. No contact with parents have been made yet. The boy is violentley injured and life is at risk. If any one is related to this boy please call this number urgently!" the tv spoke. It showed you a picture of the battered boy.
Billie's heart tightened. His eyes went dry. He dialled the number. Behind that bloody, battered face was a boy he liked to call his son. Billie rushed to Harrys house. Brenden opened the door.
"Hi Mr A!" he smiled. Billie burst in tears and rushed upstairs. He opened Harry's door.
"Ahhh!" he shut the door.
"Thank god you're ok!" Harry stopped making out with Juliet and threw her shirt.
"What's up!" she asked.
"Your mom, your brothers, they're fighting for their lives!" he sobbed. He wrapped his arms round Juliet. Juliet didnt cry. She didnt believe it! All of them. The news slowly sunk in. Her emotions spilled out in the open.
