Raising Juliet, chapter 7
It was the worst time of year for Juliet again.She was used to her dad being on tour but it always worried her.She rembered every little detail of her 6th birthday party.The day her dad came back from tour.The day that Juliet didn't exist.The day that was about her dad and Joey and Adrienne but not her.
*Flash back*
"Are you looking forward to daddy coming home Jewls?"Adrienne asked the sweet 6 year old.
"Its the best birthday ever!" she said."Can I hold Joey now, please Mommy?" she asked, putting her little arms out.
"No sweetheart I've had this chat with you!"Adrienne said. Juliet just smiled and sat down on the stairs waiting for her dad.
She heard a key turn in the door.Billie crashed through the front door, barely standing.Juliet jumped up and hugged him.
"Dadddddddy!"she cried. He pushed her away, not saying a word.
"Dont say a word to your wife then, you ungrateful slob!"Adrienne yelled to him as he flung himself on the sofa. Juliet stood at the livingroom door, hiding.
"Here, look after your son, since you havent seen him for ages!"Adrienne continued to yell.
"God, woman give me a f`in break!" He took Joey from her and put a few cushions on the floor and put the baby on them.
"What do you think you're doing, you prat?!"Adrienne picked Joey up and put him in his crib.
"I need a break.I just come off tour."He screamed at her."Aw.. hi Joey, how are you? He cant f`in understand you silly cow!"
"Stop yelling daddy!"Juliet cryed.
"Get to your room now! I don't want to see or hear you, especially your annoying little whining voice.
"Daddy! Daddy!"Juliet sadly walked to her room, crying.
She got in her bed and covered her head with the quilt so that she couldn't hear the arguing.
"I'm taking the kids out!"Adrienne yelled picking and waking up Joey. Juliet ran to the top of the stairs.
"Where we going, Mommy?"Juliet asked.Adrienne looked at her but walked out the door without speaking to her.
"I told you to get out of my sight!"Billie yelled at her.
"I want my daddy!"Juliet cried her arms wrapped tightly around him."I want daddy back!Daddy!Daddy!"
*End of flash back!*
"Daddy!"Juliet cried, hugging Billie.
"What's up sweetheart?"Billie hugged his daughter and treated her delicately, like she was only 6.
"What if it happens again?"Juliet asked.
"What?!"Billie asked. Juliet didn't answer."You know that's not going to happen!"
He took her hand and led her inside, away from everyone.
"You're my little girl. I love you. I was a jerk. I'm still a jerk, but now I'm a nice jerk." He laughed and kissed her on the forehead.
"Juliet, I will try and bring you up again," he sighed, wiping her tears."Somehow!"
"Again!"Juliet was still clutching on to Billie.
"Things have changed.You've changed, your Mom has changed, Joey hasn't changed and Jakob hasn't had time to change.You have grown up with me around but no 'Dad'.
Only recently have I been a real dad to you. We have always had the same blood but...You know. You have a boyfriend now. You're not spoilt now and you're not little anymore. Juliet, I've always loved you. It's just I didn't love you as much as I should have then. I was more interested in getting stoned and crap!" he finished.
"What do you mean 'bring me up again'?"
"I mean I will love you so much. I will give you as much attention as you need and as much space as needed!" he explained.
"I want space!" Juliet said. They looked at each other and laughed.
"Not that much!"
"OK, princess!"
Adrienne had been watching everything from the hall.A big smile was in her face and tears in her eyes.
"You're my babies and I love you!" she said, bursting out in tears.
Jakob was playing with his toy in the kitchen. Joey grabbed it from him and rolled it into the hall way. Jakob ran after it.
He stopped when he saw Adrienne, Billie and Juliet.
"I wanna hug!"He ran up to them and wrapped his short arms around their legs, since that was the only part he could reach.
Joey saw the car still there and no Jakob.
"Jakob where are...aw please!" he said, looking at his family.
He stood there for a second.
"Can I join in?" He squeezed through Adrienne and Billie's arms.
"Family pile on!"Jakob yelled.
"You don't get it, do you Jakey?"Juliet asked.
"Get what? Is there anything to get?"Jakob asked his sister.
