Lost For Words, chapter 11
‘Steph, wake up’, Tre said nudging the girl softly as she slept. He continued until eventually he got an answer from her as she was practically lying with most of her weight on him.
‘Mmm, its to early’, she mumbled, rolling over, to continue sleeping. He smiles and let out a small smile.
‘Come on Steph wake up’, he told her again, tickling her. She sat up.
‘Tre don’t do that, you know I’m ticklish’, she told him, giving him a small hit on his side; he smiled and continued to torture her.
‘Ahhh Tre stop it’, Steph screamed trying to get up off the bed. Tre grabbed her by her belt and pulled her back in, causing her to fall back onto him. They burst out laughing.
‘Are you alright?’, she asked, spinning herself around to see him.
‘Yeah I’m fine’, he told her, rubbing the back of her neck as he told her. He wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing, so this all seemed perfectly fine. She let out a giggle and then tried to climb off the bed. Instead she lost her balance and fell back on top of him. Tre caught her.
‘Shit, I am so sorry’, she told him getting back up again.
‘No worries’, he told her, playing with the end of shirt. ‘Wow, we’ve never been this close since I broke up with her’, Tre thought to himself, continuing with what he was doing. Steph giggled for a while before the two were interrupted.
‘Ahh, Steph did you forget we were going shopping this morning?’, Billie asked her from the bedroom door.
‘Ahh yeah I kinda did’, she told him, smiling sweetly and innocently at him. He smiled back and then glared at Tre. Tre bit his lip and looked away. Steph noticed the awkwardness between the two boys and broke the ice.
‘Ahh give me like 10 minutes to have a shower and get dressed appropriately and we’ll go’, Steph told him, watching Billie as he walked away from Tre’s room. ‘Phew, I thought he was gonna accuse me of something’, Steph thought to herself.
‘You know he’s lucky to have you’, Tre told her, smiling, but keeping his eyes down. Steph smiled, taking it as a compliment.
‘No, I’m lucky to have him’, Steph explained, getting up off the bed. Tre sat up as well, so that he could say goodbye before she left.
‘So, are you gonna watch the movie with us tonight?’, Steph asked him. Tre sat silent for a while.
‘Its gonna be scary’, she told him excitedly, ‘And well we might have beer’, Steph finished on a high note.
‘I’ll be there’, Tre told her enthusiastically. Any chance Tre could drink underage he would.
‘Sweet then, we’re starting it at like 10.30 cos well I want it to be dark and there’s no use watching a horror in the daylight’, Steph explained. Tre nodded and the two said goodbye, before Steph left to get ready for shopping.
-A Quarter Hour Later-
‘You said 10 minutes’, Billie said moodily as Steph walked out onto the porch. She stopped and looked at him, before she rolled her eyes.
‘Well sorry for being a few minutes over Mr Perfect’, she said sarcastically before putting her hoodie on. The two set off walking down to the mall. Billie put his arm around her, and stared down any other male who looked there way. Steph noticed and felt a little uncomfortable.
‘Are you alright, you seem kinda uptight about something?’, Steph asked him. Billie looked away from her.
‘No I’m fine’, he told her avoiding eye contact. Steph wrapped her spare arm around him, and rested her head on his shoulder. The old guilt trip would have to work it always did. Billie held her in tighter. ‘Score’.
‘Billie, I don’t wanna go shopping, cant we go to the arcade or something’, Steph asked. he kept walking.
‘No come on, we always go to the arcade, mall today, arcade tomorrow’, he told her. Steph put on a face of plead before looking away.
‘Fine we’ll go to the mall’, she said, letting him win. Billie smiled and kissed her on the cheek.
‘I love you, you know that’, he told her, smiling.
‘Sure you do’, she answered him in a pissed off way, thinking that he probably acted this way with all the other girls he had been with previously to get his way.
‘No I do’, he told her, pulling her into an alley way. He pushed her up against the building side and looked into her eyes, smiling considerately.
‘Billie, the walls cold as’, Steph told him, pushing herself off it. Billie leaned his weight on her, causing her to be pushed back. He gave her a love bite on her neck enjoying himself as he did so. He looked back at her. ‘Okay maybe you do love me’, Steph let out, giving him a quick pash, ending it before anyone could catch a glimpse of what they were doing.
‘Come on, I don’t want people thinking bad things’; Steph told him, holding his hand, and walking back out onto the main street. A shop keeper looked at them and laughed.
‘Teen love’, he said before walking back inside the store. The two of them giggled and continued making there way down to the mall.
-The Mall’s Video Store-
‘I want this one’, Billie said, holding up a copy of the Ring. Steph stepped back and had a look from behind the rack.
‘What about this?’, she asked, holding up the Grudge. Billie’s eyes widened.
‘Yeah, that one......looks creepy’, he told her, grabbing it from her hands as he read the blurb at the back.
‘So is it that one?’, she asked after a few minutes of Billie reading it. He nodded and kept reading as they walked over to the counter. He put it down on the counter and they brought it before leaving the store.
‘So now the arcade’, Steph asked innocently. Billie looked at her as if she was a little kid wanting to go to a candy store.
‘Later, it’s the start of the day’, he told her, putting his arm around her again.
‘But Billie Joe, you love the arcade’, she reminded him, hoping to get her way. He stopped walking and turned to look at her. Steph looked up so that her eyes met his.
‘Listen, well go and muck around the city all way alright and we’ll get home late, watch the movie and then well, I’ll put you to sleep. Is that a fair deal?’, he asked her. Steph thought for a while, before giving her answer to him.
‘You promise, you’ll tuck me in?’, she asked seductively. Billie smiled.
‘More than that’, he replied to her. They giggled a little longer before they started to waste the day ahead of them.
-That Night *10.30*-
‘Guys we’re home’, Steph called from downstairs. Food was already on the table and beer well a few stubbies had already been attacked. The two walked in and sat down on the lounge, until the other guys waited.
‘I’ll put the DVD on’, Steph said, grabbing it out the bag.
‘I’m gonna go turn off my phone upstairs’, Mike told them rushing away. Billie followed him up to do the same. Steph took a seat back down next to Tre. The movie advertisement credits started to run as the two of them sat in the dark, not knowing what the other one was going to do or say...
