Lost For Words, chapter 19
Billie grabbed Steph’s hand and pulled her to Mike’s bedroom. He half opened the door and made her look inside, at her brother and Raina.
‘Aww, they look so cute, together’, Steph said, smiling.
‘Almost as cute as we are’, Billie informed her, putting his arms around her waist. Steph smiled and giggled as Billie tickled her sides and closed the door. He started walking her to his room.
‘I’ve got something for you’, he told her, walking behind her to make sure she would turn the other way. He fiddled around with something in his pocket and then pulled out a ring box.
‘Billie, oh my god’, Steph squealed. This was big, Billie was about to either scare her to bits, or ruin what she was thinking.
‘Your almost 19 now am I right?’, he asked her, fiddling around with the box. Steph’s eyes were still wide with shock; she started smiling, before she answered him.
‘Yeah in a few weeks’, she told him, her eyes starting to water.
‘Well the real deal will have to wait until then, but here’s something in advance for you’, he told her, kissing her cheek, as she put the box in her hands. Steph gave him a hug as she opened the box behind him. Billie kept his arms around her hoping for a good reaction. As she opened the lid, the colours of the diamonds reflected off the sun light and caused the room to look as if there were stars on every wall, bouncing around off of eachother.
‘Oh Billie, its gorgeous’, she squealed, holding on to him, as she put it on.
‘Its perfect’, she finished saying, giving him another kiss, before she dropped the box, and climbed into his arms. Billie held her up and spun her around the room.
‘So you like it?’, he asked, looking into her eyes. Steph had the most gorgeous smile on her face he had ever seen her with.
‘Do I ever. Billie Joe your perfect, but you spoil me to much’, he told him, clinging onto him even more. Billie took in a number of deep breaths before he let Steph’s feet touch the ground again.
‘Steph’, he said nervously. Steph started to notice and panic.
‘Yeah’, she answered him, caressing the back of his neck gently. This was the moment he had been waiting for. It was the perfect opportunity to pour his heart out to her.
‘Well you know how, we’ve been seeing eachother for a while’, he told her, starting to break into a small sweat, before his heart started to thump loudly. ‘Oh god she’s gonna notice that’, he thought.
‘Yeah a few years now’, she responded to him, trying to look into his eyes, but for some reason he wasn’t able to keep eye contact with her.
‘Would you, would you.......’, he said before his voice got cut off by a screaming coming from the other room. He broke away from Steph’s hold and put his head into his hands.
‘Billie, would I what?’, she asked him, giving him a cuddle. He put his arms back around her, and buried his face into her hair before he started speak again.
‘Would you like, ever marry me?’, he asked. He continued talking, before Steph could say anything to make it obvious to her, that he wasn’t joking around. ‘Like I’ll understand if you don’t wanna be my wife, but you..’, he was cut off again, but the affection Steph was giving to him. Steph broke apart, and looked into his eyes, making sure that she maintained focus with him.
‘Billie, of course I’d want to be your wife. I’ve been dreaming about it since the day, Mike introduced me to you’, she told him starting to cry. Billie smiled and wiped her tears away. He bit his lip and hugged her again, not wanting to let go. Minutes went past without them moving away from one another.
‘Maybe we should go find out what that noise was about?’, he told her, leading her out of the bedroom and back to the lounge.
-In the Lounge-
‘Tre did you hear that noise before?’, Billie asked taking his seat back down next to Steph. Tre looked up at him and tried to figure out what Billie was on about.
‘What noise?’, he asked, moving his attention back over to the TV. Billie decided not to continue talking about it as Tre was in a bad mood, and instead tried to get him laughing.
‘What’s the resemblance between Tre and a computer mouse?’, he asked.
‘Their both really small’, Steph guessed, leaning back onto Billie as he put his arm around her.
‘Nope, they both only have one ball’, he managed to get out between his fits of laughter. Tre looked over at him in a serious manner, but it was soon wiped off when he saw the state Billie was in. half on the couch, half on the floor and practically rolling over in laughter.
‘You’re a weird one man, a very weird one’, Tre said, trying not to show his laughter, before he focused back on the telly.
-In Mike’s Room-
‘Mikey, Mikey wake up’, Raina yelled at him, shaking his slightly. Mike rolled over and continued to be asleep. Raina kept pushing and shoving him until eventually he answered back.
‘What do you want? Go to sleep’, he told her, closing his eyes again.
‘Mikey, there was someone in your room, while we were sleeping’, she told him, ‘A girl Mikey!’.
‘Your probably just imagining things. It was probably just Steph coming in to grab her lighter or something’, he told her, giving her a kiss, and putting his head back down to sleep. Raina was furious that he wasn’t taking it seriously.
‘Mike, would she use the window instead of a perfectly good door?’, Riana asked him almost screaming.
‘If she was outside, then yes’, Mike told her, trying to fall asleep again.
‘Mike, it couldn’t have been your sister, she’s in the lounge room with Tre and Billie-Joe’, Raina explained, ‘They don’t know that we came back home’. Mike looked into her eyes deeply and tried to tell her that everything was going to be alright, but with doing so, they heard screaming, glass breaking an a door slamming shut. They held eachother close with Raina crying into Mike and holding onto him as if he was the last thing in this world that meant something to her. Mike’s phone started to ring.
‘Well answer it’, Raina told him, letting go of one of his arms so that he could do so.
‘Hello?’, Mike answered.
‘Mikey, OMG where are you? No don’t worry about that, you need to come home quickly, Billie’s gone some girl came past and well before that Billie and I had a fight and now she’s like taken him away.......and Mikey everything’s gone wrong......’, the voice told him before cutting out.
‘Well you were right; they don’t know that we’re home’, Mike told Raina.
‘What do you mean?’, she asked him, holding onto him again.
‘Steph just rang me from the lounge room. Apparently Billie’s left with someone’,..
