Lost For Words, chapter 20
Billie sat back against the garage with his back on the wall, not wanting to move. He could barely see anything that was going on around him. The only thing he could remember was having an argument with Steph and then a girl coming and dragging him out of the house.
‘Billie are you alright?’, the girl asked. He started to shiver and lean against the garage even more. The rain that had fallen before was starting to soak into his clothing.
‘Who are you?’, he asked curiously with fear. The face and voice did seem familiar.
‘Don’t you remember me Billie? Three years ago......I help you’, she told him. Billie started trying to put his mind back together.
‘No you didn’t’, he told her, trying to get up and run away. It was no use though; the girl just came and stood closer to him.
‘Yes I did, the night those people attacked you. I was there. I helped you’, she informed him, kneeling down infront of him. She was able to be more seen like this as the sunlight shone over her. Billie started to recognise her, but he still wasn’t sure about why she was here and why she wanted to see him.
‘Why are you here? Why after all these years?’, he asked her slowly becoming more comfortable with what was happening.
‘I just, I needed to see you again’, he told him. The stood up and started walking off.
‘No just wait, please’, Billie yelled, getting up and running after her. She stopped and looked up at him.
‘Why didn’t you just come and tell me you were looking for me instead of all this’, he asked her. He looked down at her work badge that was pinned to her shirt. Jaden it read.
‘I don’t know, I just. I wanted to speak to you, but I guess you don’t wanna speak to me, cos your girlfriend might get pissed off at you or something’, Jaden said, trying to walk away again.
‘No it’s alright. Steph won’t mind. She trusts me well enough’, he told her, walking beside her. He tried to lead her towards the house. That’s the way they ended up going. They continued to talk for a while longer before they reached home once again.
‘Do you wanna stay the night?’, Billie asked her, ‘Its kinda dark. No time for a girl to be walking the streets’.
Jaden bit her lip and took up the offer. She didn’t feel like walking in this part of the neighbour hood even if it was day light. The two stepped into the house and walked to the lounge room.
‘Tre, where’s Steph?’, Billie asked, leading Jaden in. Tre looked up at them both, and noticed they were holding hands.
‘She’s in her bedroom’, he informed them, kicking back into his seat. Billie looked above the TV and read the clock. 11.30 pm.
‘Yeah that’s about right, if she angry she goes to sleep early’, he told himself. He led Jaden down the hallway to where the guest bedrooms were.
‘Here, you can have this room’, he told her opening the door. She stepped in and turned back around to see him.
‘Thanks Billie’, she told him, giving him a hug. Billie really didn’t expect this so he took the affection and ended it with kissing her on the cheek.
‘If you need anything during the night, don’t hesitate to ask’, he told her, before leaving her alone to relax.
Little did he know though Steph was watching them from her bedroom door and managed to not let them see her doing so. She walked back to her bed, put her self under the covers and tried to fall asleep.
-Steph’s Room*a half hour later*-
‘Steph, shove over’, Billie told her, trying to get into the bed. He wanted to tell her he was sorry, but he didn’t think it was going to have much use as she just lay there not paying attention to him.
‘Stephie, please I wanna talk to you, just move over’, he asked her again, gently pushing her. This time she noticed and sat upright so she could talk to him.
‘What do you want Billie-Joe?’, she asked him, looking into his eyes with something a little like hatred. Billie knew she was angry; she never called him by his full first name unless she was in a mood of some sort.
‘I just wanna talk to you’, he told her, taking a seat next to her.
‘About what, the kiss and cuddle you just had with that girl’, she said moodily. Billie looked at her with disbelief.
‘What, I was just saying good night to her it was nothing’, he told Steph giving her a tight hug. She broke away from it.
‘Billie, don’t do shit like that. I’m really not in the mood to talk to you right now’, she told him, fixing up her covers.
‘Why not. I love you. Don’t tell me you think I like her?’, he questioned her. Steph looked up at him and then broke eye contact and lay back down to sleep. Billie lay down beside her and put his arm around her, holding himself up above her a-little.
‘Stephie, I love you. I always have and I always will. There’s no other girl that could replace you’, he told her, kissing her neck. She rolled over and looked at him.
‘So you say’, she replied. He started kissing her again before he answered her.
‘No, you really are the only one’, he told her, pulling her up so that they could speak again, ‘She was the one who helped me on the night I was stabbed, come on, I have to be nice to her’. Steph dropped her eyes and didn’t bother responding. He lifted her face with the tips of his fingers.
‘Sweetie’, he said to her trying to maintain eye contact, ‘How long have I know you now?’, he asked.
‘Almost all my life’, she told him.
‘Exactly, ‘he said, ‘And I swear there’s never been a time that there was anyone else’, he told her, giving her a tight cuddle. Steph rested herself onto his chest and started to let her tears run out.
‘Aww, baby don’t cry’, he told her giving her more of a cuddle.
‘Billie, I’m sorry......I’m sorry for being a bitch to you, I’m sorry, I’m sorry’, she told him. Billie buried his face into her hair again.
‘Steph its alright with you around I’m fine’, he told her, letting their affection for eachother get caught up in the moment. That was until they heard a scream from Jaden’s room..
