Lost For Words, chapter 4

-At Front Door-

‘Hey Billie you came’, Steph said, as she opened the front door. She took a step outside and put her arms around Billie. He put his around her waist and started to whisper into her ear.
‘Of course I would. How is he?’, Billie asked her concerned.
‘Alright, he’s like sleeping at the moment I think’, Steph told him, grasping the back of his jumper in her fingers. She was about to start crying. Billie noticed and started to rub her back to relax her.
‘Come, we’ll go inside and talk about it’, Billie told her, walking Steph inside to the lounge room. he sat her down and put his arm around her, still taking to her.

‘So what happened?’, Billie asked her. Steph took her arms away from around him and rested her hands in her lap.
‘He, he wont tell me’, Steph told him, ‘But I’m pretty sure its got to do with that new girl and Raina and something like that’, she finished.
‘Yeah, you’re probably right. He did look pretty upset when he left’, Billie told her, reassuring her that he was concerned with that was happening.
‘Like, when he went to leave, he didn’t even speak to me, he just like walked past’, Steph mumbled.
‘No way. You guys always talk about everything’, Billie said, ‘He was probably just angry’.
‘No Bill, what if I’ve done something?’, Steph asked him as tears started to roll down her face. She still couldn’t understand why Mike would want to slit himself. Billie held her close again, but this time Steph pushed him back.
‘Stephie what’s wrong?’, he asked her. Steph breathed in deeply before giving an answer.
‘Nothing, I just don’t want Mike to come out and see. You know how he is about me, being friendly with people’, Steph told him. Billie went to hug her again, but this time Steph let him. There was no use in her thinking the way she was. Mike wasn’t going to come out. Little though did they know that Tre was in the other room, keeping an eye on them.
‘Come on, I’ll take you to see him’, Steph told Billie, walking out of the lounge and up the stairs to Mike’s room.

-MIKE’S ROOM-

‘Aww he looks so peaceful’, Billie said, looking in from the crack of the door. Steph pushed the door slowly open and the two walked in. They stood at the side of his bed, watching him sleep.
‘You know this is the first time, I’ve ever seen him sleeping in his room, normally I’m not allowed in here’, Steph told him. Billie linked his fingers with Steph’s.
‘Everything’s going to be alright’, Billie told her. Steph bit her lip and looked down. Billie gave her another hug. She pushed him back for the second time, making sure not to wake Mike up in the process. They both heard the sound of a door shut, but took no notice of it.

‘Billie you shouldn’t do that its not helping, and I know that I’ve done something wrong’, Steph told him, sniffling. Billie put both his hands on her face, and made her look into his eyes.
‘Listen, he loves you. He’s your brother and you haven’t don’t anything wrong. He is not going to leave you’, Billie told her. He hugged her for no apparent reason, thinking it was only right for the time and situation they were in.
‘Come on lets leave him’, Steph said, walking out of her brothers room, and back to the lounge. Billie stopped her on the way down the stairs by pulling her back. ‘Stephie Cakes’, he called her. She turned back and looked at him peculiarly.
‘I haven’t called you that in years’, Billie told her smiling, as he hugged her.
‘Yeah and you shouldn’t start now’, She told him, trying to break away from him. He held her close though.
‘You know when I told you, you were pretty before. Well I really meant it’, he told her.
‘No you didn’t’, Steph responded, smiling at him. She wondered how long, he would keep the conversation going.
‘Yeah I do. I..i.. I really’, he paused, ‘Love you’. He tried to give her another hug, but Steph stepped away.
‘You know, one day something really goods going to come along, and your just going to overlook it’, he told her.
‘No, I’m not overlooking anything’.
‘Well your doubting it, which is just as bad’. Steph looked, back up at him.
‘No I’m not’, she told him, giving him a light peck on the cheek, before walking down the stairs.
‘Wow, what was that for?’, Billie asked her following her.

-Down Stairs-

‘Hey were did Tre go?’, Steph asked, walking into the kitchen. She looked around to make sure that he had actually left.
‘I don’t know. He’s a sneaky one’, Billie joked, taking a seat at the bench.
‘Yeah, he kinda is, but I wanted to talk to him’, Steph said.
‘About what? Come on talk to me about it’, he told her. She looked at him and smiled.
‘Nothing. Its just well’, Steph let out.
‘Like what?’, Billie asked her.
‘Well, Tre kinda rejected me for someone, and now I don’t know, like what if you do?’, she thought out aloud. Billie looked up at her and smiled.
‘Its not going to happen’, Billie told her, caringly.
‘But, like, I’ve seen the way, girls look at you, and they way you look back at them and well......’.
‘Babe, that’s lust on love. The only one I love is you. Now you wanna talk about anything else that’s bothering you’, he asked her.
‘No it’s alright, come on, I wanna do something fun’, she told him, grabbing his hand, and walking him out of the room.
‘Like what?’, Billie asked her. She turned around and looked him, stepping closer to him.
‘Shopping’, Steph squealed enthusiastically, before she walked Billie out of the house.

-AFTER THE SHOPPING CENTRE- [walking back to the house]

‘So you like what I brought?’, Steph asked Billie, looking up at him. He put an arm around her and kissed her on the neck gently.
‘Yeah, you gonna put it on for me when we get home?’, he asked her, seducingly. They both giggled for no real reason, before they came to the front door. Before they came to open it, Mike forced his way out, and then stood infront of them.
‘Come on Bill, there’s a water fight happening, a few houses down. You have to come’, Mike told him. Billie looked at Steph for a moment and then whispered to her.
‘Listen, I’ll go with him, cos he seems alright, but i wanna see you in those when I come back’, he told her. Steph watched Mike, pull Billie away down the street, for what she expected would turn out rather interesting. She made her way into the house.

‘Hi Tre’, she said walking in, seeing the guy sitting in the couch. He looked up at her, and then back at the TV. His eyes were red, and he was obviously drunk, cos of the amount of bottles around him. He had obviously left the house early to go buy the drinks. Steph walked up the stairs to her room; little did she suspect that Tre was following her..
