Lost For Words, chapter 9

‘Mike, Mike let me in’, Steph screamed banging on the front door. Mike got up off the couch and answered it.
‘Whoa, what’s wrong?’, he asked her, as she flung herself into him. He caught her, and tried to settle her as she cried. Before she spoke, she wiped her tears away and started to settle her breathing.

‘Mike, Billie.......Billie......he asked me to marry him, but I cant 'cause I’m not feeling well....... and......why does this have to happen to me?’, she blurted out, before her eyes started to down in tears again.
‘Aww Steph its alright. Don’t cry. Come on well go down to the chemist and get you a test’, Mike told her.
‘Why do I need one of them though?’, She asked him, without thinking.
‘Well remember your ahh, night with Tre?’, he asked her. Steph nodded and continued crying.
‘Well I think maybe your gonna be a mommy’, he told her, trying to smile, and make her happy. Steph’s tears increased and she started to become pale.
‘Mike I don’t want to be a mommy, I’m barely 17 yet’, she exclaimed, moving away from him and sitting down on the couch.
‘Listen Steph relax, your gonna be fine’, he told her, ‘Look we’ll go down to the chemist now and grab one and then you can come back here and well, let fate tell you an answer’, he told her even more calmer than before. Steph looked up at him, though her tear stained eyes. She nodded her head in agreement and the two of them then left for the chemist.

-At the Chemist-

‘Mike, here I found one now can we please go’, Steph pleased. Mike turned around and looked at her.
‘Steph, Riana’s working today, I wanted to see if she was gonna be here’, Mike told her, searching around.
‘Mike, you can’t talk to her while I’m here buying this’, Steph cried out in shock. Mike rolled his eyes.
‘Fine then, we’ll go get this and then we’ll go’, he told her, as they walked over to the register.

‘Is that all?’, the checkout girl asked.
‘Ahh yeah’, Steph said awkwardly as she watched Mike walk out, trying to be un-noticed. The cashier gave him a dirty look.
‘Is there something wrong?’, Steph asked, bringing the attention back to her as she handed her credit card over.
‘Oh nothing, here..ahh is that on savings?’, the girl asked.
‘Yeah’, Steph told her as she pinned in the numbers of her card. Once the money had checked clear, the girl handed over the bag, and watched Steph closely as she left the store.

‘Wow, what was her problem?’, Mike asked, as Steph walked up to him.
‘Just leave her’, she told him as they walked out of the centre on their way back home.

-Back Home *an hour later*-

‘What’s the test say?’, Mike asked, as Steph walked down the hall back to the lounge.
‘Its negative thank god!!!’, Steph said, sitting down with a sense of relief. She put it down on the shelf underneath the lounge side table and continued watching television with her brother, until they heard a knock on the door.
‘Mike could you.......’, Steph said, being cut of by Mike getting up.
‘Yeah sure, as usual’, he told her, mimicking her voice. He opened the door.

‘Hi Riana’, Mike said stoked. She looked up at him, and then behind him.
‘Hey, I was wondering if you wanted.......I don’t know.......go out somewhere tonight, 'cause one of the girls said, you were in the store today’, she told him.
‘Ahh yeah I was’, Mike said, scratching the back of his neck, ‘Just let me get ready and well go somewhere’, he told her, walking her into the house.

‘Hi Steph’, Riana said greeting her with a smile. Steph smiled back, but didn’t say anything as Mike and Riana walked down to his bedroom. Steph turned back and started watching TV. A few minutes later there was a knock on the door again.
‘Damn no ones here to answer it’, Steph thought as she got up, making her way over to the door. She answered it, slowly taking her time.
‘Take your time as usual’, the voice told her. She looked up, to see who it was, but at the same time, thought about giving the person a piece of her mind, for mimicking what she normally said, when she was waiting for the door to be answered.
‘BILLIE’, Steph screamed, grabbing a hold of him, and hugging him tightly.
‘Wow, didn’t expect that’, he whispered under his breath. Her eyes started to water a little.
‘Billie?’, she said, keeping a grip around him.
‘Yeah?’, he asked her, looking down at her.
‘I’m really, really sorry about before’, she told him, resting her head on his chest, as she continued to sniffle.
‘Its..it’s alright’, Billie told her, rubbing her back gently.
‘No its not, I hurt you and I shouldn’t have’, she told him, wiping her eyes dry.
‘No, its alright’, he told her, singing to her softly to calm her down even more.
‘Billie, don’t try and calm me down to make me feel better, I hurt you’, she repeated, still crying. Billie lifted her head and made her look into his eyes, while he continued singing to her.
‘Billie don’t be so relaxed and calm about this, I’ve been worrying the whole time’, she explained. Billie stopped and looked at her, with a look of sadness.
‘Sweetie......I had a feeling you would react like that......I braced myself for the worst that could have come’, he told her, hugging her tighter.
‘But why?’, she asked, not letting her grip go.
‘I just had a feeling, you seemed worried about something’, he told her, rubbing her back a little more.
‘Billie I’m really sorry’, Steph told him, her eyes becoming drier.
‘No its alright’, he told her, smiling at her.
‘No its not, I didn’t think we were that serious, come on I’m barely over 17’, she told him. A look of sadness passed though his eyes, as they started to turn a deep shade of green.
‘Billie its alright’, she told him, giving him a kiss,’ When we are the legal age, I will, marry you’, she told him.
‘You......you will’, Billie asked her, as his eyes lightened up.
‘Well that’s still if we feel the same way about eachother’, she told him.
‘And we will’, Billie told her flirtingly kissing her again. He picker her up and spun her around.
‘Ahh Billie put me down’, she asked him. He did so, but kept his arms around her as she didn’t seem to mind, having this affection.
‘Aww I only wanted to make you feel better’, he told her, trying to kiss her again. Steph swerved the kiss and giggled instead.
‘Come with me I wanna talk to you......like alone’, she told him, walking him outside to the old tree house. He looked up at it and then looked down at her again.

‘Well climb up’, she told him, pushing him up the makeshift stairs. He climbed up and then gave Steph a hand getting up as well. They sat on the old balcony they used to sit on as kids and looked over the city as its bright lights shines in the skies darkness.
‘Remember when we would play up here as kids?’, Steph asked Billie, shifting a little closer to him.
‘Yeah I remember’, he told her, putting his arm around her.
‘Remember when that girl gave you your first kiss up here?’, Steph asked him.
‘Yeah’, he told her becoming uncomfortable with what she might say next.
‘And then I found her at school the next day and bet her up’, Steph laughed.
‘Yeah I remember that’, Billie told her, resting his head on her shoulder as he smiled.
‘Time seems to fly past so fast’, She told him, turning her head to kiss him on the check.
‘Yeah it does’, Billie told her taking her affection.
‘But now its fine, 'cause you’re here with me and its all that I’ve wanted’, Steph told him, resting her weight down on to him. They cuddled into eachother and watched the city lights for a little longer, until they were disrupted by the sound of shattering glass coming from the house.

‘Did you hear that?’, Steph asked, sitting up for a moment. Billie looked out the window.
‘Yeah sounded like it came from Tre’s room’,..
