And He Just Left, chapter 2

Billie just stood there, not knowing what to do. He couldn't just go up to her and tell her he's her father, that would freak her out. She was three when he left. She wouldn't remember him. If she did she'd probably hate him. Biliie sighed. He needed to talk to Adrienne about this.

*Megan's POV*

I laughed and watched my friends scold each other. I sighed. I still miss mom. Her dying was just so sudden. Let me explain.

I was 6 and it was three years after my dad left. My mom said he started off fine, then he left us for another woman and he didn't want me or love me anymore, so I didn't push the subject. To this day, I don't know who he is.

Anyway, I came home from school one day and I walked into the house. At this time we where living in New Jersey, and I took an hour and a half long bus ride to go to school in New York. I got off the bus and went inside calling her name. I looked all around and couldn't find her. Finally, I went into her rom and saw her lying on the floor. I slowly walked over trying not to cry, and saw a pill bottle in one hand and a note in the other. It was a sucide note. She had over-dosed and killed herself.

The next year I spent going to foster homes, but everyone thought I was too rebelious and sent me back. When I was nine they finally just kept me here until I turn eighteen, cause no one really wanted to adopt a rebel. Even though I don't drink, and I quit smoking a month ago.

I was about to say something when I noticed a guy looking at us, I think, cause he was wearing a hoodie, a hat, and sunglasses. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, and then turned back to my friends.

Leon and Kyle were trying to juggle candles that were sitting on the table, but didn't succeed without knocking into each other. I laughed as Kyle bumped into Leon. Leon's candles went flying, he fell, and Kyle fell on top of him. I laughed and looked at my other friend Shayne. She was laughing her ass off.

"Nice. You know, you might be clowns, but not very good ones." I said.

Kyle jumped off of Leon. "Haha very funny. Remind me to laugh when that's funny." he said.

I laughed harder. "That's the oldest line in the book. Please, my mother used that on me."

"I thought your mom died." Leon said.

I stopped laughing and looked at him. 'God, he so cute ain't he? ' "Yea, when I was six, but that doesn't mean she didn't use it."

"Oh. How did she die?" Leon asked. Shayne hit him and told him to shut up.

"No it's okay Shayne. She 'over-dosed' on her pain killers. I came home from school and found the empty bottle and a note in her hand." I said.

"And it didn't say anything about your father?" Kyle asked.

For some reason I glanced at the guy who was looking at us. He was still looking and listening, I think. Oh well. Don't matter.

"Nope. Nothing. Well, besides the ususal. He never wanted me and never loved me so, so I can't know about him. I was three when he left. I remember that day like it was yesturday, except for him, which is a pain cause I can't find him." I sighed.

Leon looked sad for a minute. "Oh. Sorry. Didn't mean to bring it up." he said quietly.

"Hey. It's okay. I mean, I miss mom like hell, but I'm getting over that fact and that I can't find my dad. I pretty much got it down to, mom killed herself, can't find dad, and now I don't really care kinda thing."

*Nobody's POV*

Billie listened as Megan explained things to all her friends. He couldn't believe it. Michelle killed herself and she told Megan that he never wanted her and never loved her.

He felt a lump in throat rise as he listened to her tell all. She doesn't remember him and doesn't know who he is.

He let a couple tears drip down his face. Then he felt arms go around his waist.

"Hey." Adrienne said in his ear.

He sniffed. "Hi."

"What's wrong Billie Joe?"

"Nothing."

She turned him around. "There has to be something. You're crying."

He shook his head. "I'll tell you at the hotel."

*AT THE HOTEL*

"Okay Billie, explain."

He took a deep breath and told Adrienne everything.

When he was done, he did all he could do to keep from sobbing and Adrienne looked like she just saw a ghost.

She shockingly looked at her husband. "It's my fault. I made you choose. I shouldn't have. I should have just excepted that you had a daughter and I didn't. God, I'm awful." she cried, sitting down.

Billie put his arm around her. "No. I was the one who left her. Not you."

Adrienne sniffed. "Tomorrow, I think we should go talk to her."

*THE NEXT DAY AT THE ORPHANAGE*

Billie and Adrienne walked back to the back where Megan and her friends were yesterday. It was 11:00 in the morning and they all looked tired.

Megan yawned. She was standing but looked like she was gonna fall over. She closed her eyes and tilted forward. She snapped back up. "Why am I so fuckin' tired?" she said.

She went over and sat on Leon. "You're sitting on me." he mummbled under her.

"I know." she said and grinned, looking just like Michelle and Billie felt that lump in his throat again.

Just then Megan looked up and saw the same guy as yesterday standing there.

"Hold on." she said to her friends and got up.

She walked over to a suprised Billie.

"Why are looking at us?" she said tiringly.

"Uh-" he stutterd.

"Nevermind." she said and turned.

"No wait!" he said. She stopped and turned.

"Yea?"

"Uh, what's your name."

"Megan Johnson. Why?"

He said nothing but sighed and took off his sun glasses and hat, thinking she wouldn't recognize him.

He looked at her. Her eyes went wide and she backed up a couple steps.

"Dad?"
