"I've Done Twins", chapter 11

Later, Billie saw Courtney standing in the kitchen, washing up her cup, he snuck up
behind her and put his arms around her waist and kissed the back of her neck. "Ugh, Billie, go away. I'm not in the mood." Billie took his hands off her and stared.
"What the fuck? Courtney... Is this about Tre?"
"Yes," she turned around and dried her hands. "As a matter of fact, it is!" She glared at him. "Billie, he was hurt! He wanted support. He may of not been mugged at gunshot, but it's still scary for him."
"Courtney, I was there, kinda. Trust me, he WAS NOT mugged." Courtney looked at Billie, a little confused.
"He wasn't?"
"No! The idiot left the car completely unlocked and the keys on the roof!" Courtney jumped into Billie's arm, she hugged him and kissed him.
"I'm SO sorry for snapping at you," she chuckled, "I knew I should have believed
you."
"I wouldn't lie to you, Courts." Courtney smiled up at Billie. She hated how short she was. Even compared to Billie. She only came up to his chin, as did Leah.
"Do you think we should tell Leah about the car?"
"No," Billie said, chuckling. "For Tre's sake, no."

Leah knocked on Tre's bedroom door. Tre was watching t.v. He quickly flicked the
t.v. off and put his face in his pillow and started sobbing hopelessly again. "Tre?" asked Leah softly, "Can I come in?"
"If you want," replied Tre, sounding as teary as he could. Leah opened the door and ran in, jumping on Tre's bed. She giggled. Tre tried not to smile. So he hid his face in his pillow.
"Tre, are you alright?" Tre shrugged,
"I'll be fine, I just need time," he said, rolling his eyes. Leah stroked the
back of Tre's head. Her fingers glided through his soft hair.
"Poor guy," she whispered.

Tre sat up and immediently hugged Leah, Leah hugged him back as if he were a small child. "Tre, s'ok, I don't care about the car, as long as you're alright." Tre, grinning from the other side of Leah's shoulder, sniffed.
"Thank you, Leah," he whispered, "I know you're a true friend." Leah pulled away, and Tre's expression went from a cheeky grin to a sad sorry face. She kissed his cheek and stood up.
"You can come out to the lounge room with me, Tre, we'll watch a movie or something."
"Freddy Vs. Jason?" he asked.
"Of course," she smiled.

Tre started feeling guilty. He'd lost Leah's beloved car, lied straight to her face and
was now making her watch Freddy Vs. Jason, and he knew perfectly well she HATED
that movie. Mike came into the room and smiled at Tre, "Did you get my stuff?"
"Yeah," Tre said, still looking at the t.v.
"Babe, did Courtney take your car out?" Leah stood up.
"I'll be back in a minute, sweetie," she smiled at Tre. She followed Mike into the kitchen. Mike was standing at the counter, sorting out the groceries. Leah wrapped her arms around his stomach and pressed her head against his back.
"Hey baby!" Mike laughed, "How come you're so cuddly?"
"Because I'm always cuddly," Leah chuckled, "I've got something to tell you."
"What?" Mike turned around and put his arms loosely around her waist, Leah did the same to Mike.

"Tre was mugged," She said, looking into his eyes. Mike was so stunned he nearly let go of Leah.
"Really? Where?"
"At the shopping centre I guess, they stole my car!" she put her head on his chest. "My beautiful car!" Mike hugged her and kissed her forehead.
"Aw, baby, I'm sorry," he said, with his cheek against the top of her head. Pulling away from Mike, Leah chuckled. "S'ok, I can get a newer one, it was covered
by insurance."

Billie and Courtney were cuddled up in the yard. Leaves were falling from the trees
and making a mess of the lawn. Courtney put her head on Billie's shoulder. "I've noticed you don't seem to get Leah and I confused much anymore," commented
Courtney.
"Yeah, because she never smiles at me, you do." They both laughed.
"She does too smile at you," she protested, "Just not as nicely as I do."
"She's the evil twin," grinned Billie.
"True," muttered Courtney, thinking about all the evil pranks Leah pulls. "Very true." Billie kissed Courtney. For a long time. She pulled away and sighed.
"Billie, I want to stay here forever. Autumn is beautiful."
"Yeah," shrugged Billie, "But honestly, Spring is better."
"No way!" she laughed, "Autumn kicks Spring's ass by a mile."
"COURTNEY!" screamed Leah from the bedroom, "COURTNEY! COURTNEY!
COME QUICK!"

Courtney jumped up and ran like a bat outta hell to the bedroom. Billie hardly had
time to blink before he realised Courtney was out of his arms and inside.
Billie went inside as well where Tre was sitting on the couch, looking innocent and
staring at Billie. "Wh-"
"Don't ask," Tre said quickly, "I dunno what's goin' on." Billie and Mike ran into each other just before they entered the girl's room.
"Courts? Lee?" Mike said softly, knocking on the door. The boys opened it. Tre was trying to look over Billie and Mike's shoulders. The twins were huddled up on the floor, against the wall, crying and hugging.
"Girls? What's wrong?" Mike asked, bending down and putting a hand on both their
shoulders. Leah sniffed and looked up. No one hardly ever saw Leah cry. Sixteen years of friendship and they hardly saw one tear. And now, her tears were running down her cheeks.
"It's...it's... Dad."

Courtney clenched her fingers into the back of Leah's shirt. "Leah, please tell me
you're lying..." she whispered. "Please." Leah calmed herself and wiped some tears from her eyes.
"Our dad's died," she whispered. "He finally kicked the bucket."
"Oh, baby," Mike said sympathetically, hugging Leah. Courtney looked up at Mike and Leah hugging. Tre looked away. Even he felt bad and saddened. Billie picked Courtney up and kissed her forehead, telling her 'everything's ok'. Courtney placed her hand on Leah's back.
"Lee Lee," she whispered, "What are we going to do?" Leah turned away from Mike and shrugged at her sister.
"Courts... I really don't know."
"Well..." Billie looked over at Tre and Mike, "Going to the funeral would be nice."
Courtney let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Got spare tickets to Australia?" Mike clicked. Shit, he thought, Damn it! I forgot they were Aussies.
"I haven't been back there in ages," scoffed Leah, "I don't think I could go back..."
"You have to!" shouted Courtney, "It's our father's funeral." Tre grinned.
"Well... I've always wanted to spend an Australian Holiday in...uh... Australia."
"Oh get stuffed," snapped Leah, "We're not going!"
"Like fuck we aren't," said Billie, "We're going, Leah, it's your dad's funeral, and
we're going."

"I'm going for a walk," muttered Leah, grabbing her coat and putting her hand against the door knob.
"Can I come?" asked Mike, grinning sweetly. Leah smiled and nodded.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Billie sang.
"And what wouldn't you do, Billie?" asked Leah.
"I wouldn't... have sex in the park."
"Neither would I! Gross!" exclaimed Tre, "Pervy squirrels watching you fuck..." He
shivered. Mike and Leah laughed and walked out the door.

Mike took Leah's hand as they walked along the pathway in the park. "So," smiled Mike, "Excited about going home?"
"No," snapped Leah, "Not at all."
"Why not?" Mike asked, "Australia's a beautiful place!" She giggled.
"I love how American's say Australia, it's so cute." Mike smirked.
"It's nice over there."
"My town's not really that special," she shrugged, "There's nothing there."
"So?" he asked, "We're going so you and Courtney catch up with family."
"That's the thing!" she groaned, "I don't WANT to catch up with family! Why do you
think I moved all the way to fucking Berkeley when I was a fucking kid with my
mother and aunt!"
"Didn't your father send you both to live with your aunt though?"
"Kinda," Leah smiled, she didn't often talk about her family, until now, "My mother
and father got divorced. Courtney and I went to live with our mother. She moved too." Mike put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head.
"Well... then just go for Courtney. You love her, right? It would make her so happy. Just think of it that way." Leah sighed.
"Yeah...but... I don't wanna go."
"Tough luck, missy, you're going." she groaned and slapped Mike's arm
"You're a real jerk when you want to be."
"I know," he grinned.

"Man," Courtney sighed, looked down at her shoes, "I... I don't believe it." Billie put his arm around her.
"I'm sorry, Courtney," he whispered. "Really." She nodded and looked into his eyes.
"Thanks." He kissed her cheek and stood up.
"So... What are we gonna be doing over in Australia? Tell me more about were going."
"Well," she shrugged. "Townsville's the name of the town..." Tre cracked up laughing.
"Are we gonna see The Powerpuff Girls?" Courtney chuckled.
"No, it's one of the most boring places on Earth."
"That sucks," Tre mumbled. "I hate boring places."
"But... Australia's meant to be interesting," Billie squeaked.
"Oh, it is," smiled Courtney, "Just... The place we're going to is seriously boring."

Mike and Leah were sitting on the swings. Mike was seeing how high he could swing while Leah sadly swung gently and didn't say anything. "Look Leah!" Mike said, swinging high, "Look how high I am!" Leah looked up and laughed.
"Oh! I'm so proud of you, son," she joked.
"Thanks, Mommy!" laughed Mike.
"C'mon, let's get back home," Leah got off the swing and waited for Mike. Mike
jumped off and grabbed her hand.
"How come you wanna go back so early?" asked Mike.
"Because," she shrugged, "I need to spend some time with Courtney."
"Aww," he cooed, "You're such a good sis."
"Hey," she smiled, "I'm older, I need to watch out for my little sissy."
"Seven minutes older?" he laughed, "And the significance of seven minutes is...?"
"Shut up," she giggled, "It means a hell of a lot to me," she grinned at him. "I'm the oldest in the family by a WHOLE seven minutes!" He rolled his eyes.
"Hm, yes, I see why that matters."
"Don't be sarcastic," Leah snapped. Mike grinned.
"Hah, sorry."

"OH MY GOD!" screamed Tre. Billie jumped.
"What?" he asked, rubbing his ear, which was ringing from Tre's outburst.
"Jason! What about Jason!? He HAS to come to Australia too! I can't party without
Jason!"
Billie sighed and rolled his eyes. "Can't you go...a week...without him?"
"No!" Tre gasped. "We're talking... HOT Australian GIRLS! Billie, honestly! ALL
Australian girls are hot one way or another! I NEED Jason to come Chick Patrolling."
"Alright," Billie sighed. "Jase can come."
"Whoo hoo!" Tre jumped up and grabbed his phone to call Jason. Billie rolled his eyes again.

Rain started pelting from the sky, about five minutes before Mike and Leah got home. They got completely drenched. "God," Leah said, throwing her dripping wet coat onto the washing machine. "I'm soaked!"
"Yeah, but you've got that sexy wet look happening," teased Mike.
"And your hair looks like you've done a headstand! It's flat!" Mike spiked his hair back up. "Happy now, Lee Lee?"
"Ugh, you know I hate that nickname, don't you?" she smiled softly.
"Yeah, that's why I keep calling you that, Lee Lee," he replied, ripping off his shirt
and throwing it onto the washing machine, which was quickly becoming a vast pile of wet clothes. Leah stood in her wet clothes and stared at Mike's bare chest. "What?" Mike asked.
"Nothing, I'll go into the bathroom and get changed."

She went to push past Mike, Mike blocked her off. Leah was standing pressed up
against Mike's chest.
"It's nothin' I haven't seen before," he whispered in her ear. She giggled,
"Yeah, but... I don't care."
"Aw," Mike mumbled. "You're freaking out, is my chest too sexy for ya, Lee Lee?"
"You're askin' for it buddy," she mumbled, "I bet you any money if I took my shirt off right now you'd freeze up." Mike shook his head.
"Nup," he grinned, "I'm over that." Leah rolled her eyes.
"Well, I'm still going to get changed in the bathroom." Mike laughed.
"Uh, Leah, reminder, I HAVE seen you naked before."
"So?" she smiled, "I hope you enjoyed it." She quietly shut the laundry door.
"I did actually!" Mike shouted at her.
