"I've Done Twins", chapter 15
Back At The Hotel...
"I still don't see why we didn't stay with April," Tre complained.
"Just shut up!" Mike snapped.
"Another minute with April and I would end up like dad," Leah grunted.
"Tell me about it," Billie groaned, "She's so pompous and 'high-and-mighty'."
"Conceited is a good word for it," Mike said, "She was worse then Tre."
"Hey! Shut up!" Tre snapped.
Courtney's phone rang, "Hello Hayley," She smiled, answering the phone, "What are you up to?"
Everyone listened into the conversation, it ended quickly when Courtney said, "I think I'm getting another call, hold on a second."
She pressed a button on her cell phone, "Hello?" She paused, "Oh! April!"
Tre groaned, Leah covered his mouth and stared at Courtney.
"Really? I'm so sorry! Ok, I'll see if... Really? That's so nice of you, thank you... Ok... uh huh... yeah... we'll be there soon... Bye April."
She pressed another button, "Look... Hayley..." She said, "You and Jess get to my house... Riverside... yep... Damn straight! Ok... seeya there!"
She hung up.
"What's going on?" Billie, Tre, Mike, Jason and Leah asked at once.
"Guess who's staying at the House tonight?" Grinned Courtney.
"Me?" Tre asked hopefully.
"Yep, we're all staying there tonight! Grab your stuff and meet me downstairs."
"What about April?" Asked Leah.
"Her sister had to go into hospital or something like that, she won't be home until tomorrow. Until then, the house is OURS!"
Back At The House...
Tre watched as April's LandRover drove off down the street, he waited until he couldn't see the car.
"WOO FUCKING HOO! PARTY! I'LL BE DJ!"
The guys cheered.
"Guys..." Said Courtney. They didn't listen.
"Guys..." Leah said a little louder then Courtney. They still didn't listen, the boys kept cheering and running around like madmen.
"GUYS!" The girls both shouted. The house went silent.
"Look, this is practically April's house, let's not trash it. If we do, she'll go nuts!" Warned Courtney.
"That's not what I was going to say," Leah said, looking at Courtney in a puzzled way.
"What were you going to say?" Asked Courtney.
"I was going to say if Tre's in charge of music I'll get the keg."
"Trust the Evil Twin to think of that," Laughed Mike.
"Hm," Grunted Billie, "I wanted to be in charge of the beer."
"Guys! Please! April trusts me not to trash this place..."
Suddenly, Hayley and Jess bust through the door.
"Well? Who's ready to party?!" Shouted Hayley.
"Oh God," Moaned Courtney, flopping onto the expensive leather couch.
"Well," Grinned Tre, "I went through your personal phone book of friends..."
Courtney's face dropped, Leah grinned.
"They said a party at Eight would be awesome. So... we better get ready."
"Alright then," Jess said, sitting between Hayley and Leah, "Me and Tre will go shopping for food. Mike and Leah, you go get... I dunno... party stuff, I was thinking b-"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" Interrupted Leah, "This has gotta be a budget party. I'm not wasting money for people to... just get hungover about it."
"Yeah," Agreed Billie, "Get cheap stuff. Don't buy million dollar champagne."
"Speaking of which," Said Jason, "Who's in charge of the booze?"
"Now that you mention it," Smiled Jess, "YOU are, Mr Jason White."
"Oh fine," Mumbled Jason, "But I'm teaming up with Hayley."
"Fine by me," Smiled Hayley.
"Billie and Courtney will clean the house, move the breakable stuff into another room. Ok, off you guys go. Don't be too long."
"Well... what if Mike and I get back early?" Asked Leah, "Getting stupid balloons or streamers or whatever won't take very long."
"Then, you can pick the CD's and music and all that you want Tre to play."
"And you can set up the drinks table and everything," Added Tre.
"Fine, everyone split!" Exclaimed Mike.
"What do Australians eat?" Asked Tre, pushing Jess around in a trolley.
"Same as you Americans... probably not as greasy though," She joked. Tre glared at her, "I'm kidding Tre, kidding."
"So... you Australians will eat..." He picked up something from a shelf, "Pickled Olives?"
"Oh God no!" Gagged Jess, "Some people will, I sure as Hell won't!"
Tre laughed and put the olives back on the shelf. He picked up some chocolates. Jess nodded. Tre threw them in the trolley with her.
"What about these?" He held up some chips.
"Yeah. Hey! Look! I discount, if you buy three it's only the cost of one! Get... hm... six!"
Tre threw six big packets of chips at Jess. She giggled as each one of them hit her.
"Tre! That's mean," She giggled.
"Aw, I'm sowwy," He pouted. Jess grabbed his tie and kissed him.
"You should be, boy," She grinned.
"Now, as for NON-Alcoholic drinks, what did you have in mind... for your Australian tastebuds, Jessie?"
"Tre, for the last time, my taste and tastebuds and everything are the same as yours!" She laughed. Tre smiled innocently.
"I'm sorry," He said, "But... Courtney doesn't have the same taste as me. Leah does. But she's weird so... I thought it was just... Australians don't like the stuff Americans do."
"Like I said," Jess smiled, with her face close to his, "We like it all, except less greasy."
The check-out chick scanned all the items Tre and Jess bought, "That all comes to $22.95," She said, "Got any fly-buys?"
"Nope," Jess said, pulling out a creditcard. She grinned at Tre, "Dad should have NEVER trusted me with the credit card."
Tre smirked as Jess ran the card through the machine and typed in the pin number.
They put everything into the back of Jess's car. Tre shut the roof of the boot, he put his arms around Jess's waist and smiled.
"I felt like hugging," He cooed. Jess laughed and put her hand up to his cheek.
"C'mon Tre, let's get back."
"Alright," He sighed, letting her go, "You're still driving though."
"Fine," She mumbled.
"Fucking hell," Grunted Leah, "Why'd we have to get the stupid stuff?"
Mike smirked and threw balloons into the basket he was holding.
"Don't worry, Leah, at least we get to pick out the music, when we get back."
"All we have to get is stupid balloons and confetti and shit like that. And... people will hardly even notice that!" She frowned again, "And it'll only make a mess, which, no doubt, I will end up cleanin' up!"
"But Tre will have a lot of fun throwing it at people," Mike laughed.
"Yeah, true," She knocked into him, playfully, and put her arm around him. Mike put his arm around her and smiled.
"Well... if we've got balloons and streamers and stuff, we're done," He said.
"Yep," Leah looked up and smiled, "Now... as for CDs..."
"We'll discuss that later," Mike snapped.
"I think we should play..." She continued.
"We'll discuss it later," He said again.
Leah giggled and kissed him, "Sorry."
"What about this?" Asked Billie, holding up a beautiful red vase.
"Yeah, put that in the study, Billie," Courtney said, putting a framed photo of Leah and herself in the spare room.
"And this?" He asked, holding up a antique tea set.
"Billie, just use your best judgement on whether it's breakable or not."
"I wouldn't want to break ANYTHING in this house," Billie replied, "It's all just too expensive and prettyful." He looked up at Courtney. He placed the tea set in the room and snuck up behind her. He put his arms around her and kissed her neck.
"But, amongst ALL this beautiful furniture, you're still the most beautiful thing in this house."
"Really?" Whispered Courtney, turning around and placing her hands on his shoulder.
"Well... at least until Leah comes home," He laughed, pecking her lips.
Mike scanned Leah's CD stack, "Geez, Leah! There's about a $1000 worth of CDs here!"
"I know," Smiled Leah, sitting next to him on the soft carpeted floor, "Anything you like so far?"
"Well," Mike held up a mixed CD, "That'll work."
"Yes, that has really good songs on it," She said. Mike held up her International Superhits CD.
"Well... I had to play some of my own stuff..."
"Of course," Laughed Leah, "Just to show off all your talent."
"Exactly," Grinned Mike.
"I was being sarcastic," She chuckled.
"Oh," He pouted, "I'm a good bass player, aren't I?"
"The best," She replied, patting his back.
"What about some Ramones?" Mike said, waving their CD around.
"Uh huh," Agreed Leah, placing it in the 'play me' pile.
"Clash... The Living End... My Chemical Romance... Sex Pistols... Jimmy Eat World... Uh..." He picked up a CD and looked at Leah with an eyebrow raised.
"Never imagined you as a Simple Plan fan," He laughed.
"I'm not," Snapped Leah, snatching the CD off him, "That belongs to my sister."
"Sure sure," He giggled.
"I'm serious Mike! It does, I don't even know the guys in the band!"
"You've met them," Mike said sarcastically.
"So? I didn't talk to them, did I?"
Mike chuckled and picked up another CD, "Didn't imagine you as a Britney Spears fan, either! Lee Lee, you've got a lot of explaining to do."
"That's definately not mine!" She scoffed, looking at the CD, "I'd like to know if it's Courtney's though."
"Hm," He mumbled, "I'm sure you're just secretly a pop chick."
"Oops I did it again," She sang, she stopped and chuckled, "Yeah... that's all I know from that song."
Mike stood up and grabbed a few more CD's from Courtney's pile. On his way back to Leah, Mike made up his own Britney Spears dance routine, while humming 'Oops I Did It Again'. Leah cracked up laughing, and Tre and Jess walked in just in time to watch a majority of Mike's provocative little dance.
"Mike, I know you're secretly a Madonna fan, but... honestly... Britney Spears?" Tre said, standing at the door with a disgusted look on his face. Jess had a ear to ear grin on her face. Mike, feeling extremely embarrassed looked at Leah, who had her phone out recording everything.
"Leah!" He shouted, jumping on her and trying to snatch the phone.
"Tre! Catch!" She squealed, throwing her phone at Tre. Tre leaped and caught it perfectly.
"I'm sending it out, Leah!" Tre sent the tape of Mike dancing to everyone in her phone book. Mike went pale.
"I can't believe you... you did that!" He stammered.
"Well... uh... we just did," Grinned Leah, who was still underneath Mike, "Love you, Mikey darling."
"And you still have the nerve to say you LOVE me?" He shouted.
"Of course I do, baby," She grinned. Jess laughed.
"Please, Mike, dance again! Please!"
Mike grunted and shut the door on them.
"I so hate you, Leah Marie."
"Ooh! I think you need a nap, Micheal Ryan," She giggled.
Mike found a black book with 'Leah Prescott' on it.
"Is this a diary, Leah?" He grinned, flicking through all the pages.
"MIKE! YOU CANNOT READ THAT!" She leaped on him and snatch the book out of her hands, "That is SO private it's not funny!"
"Aw, please, one little read?"
"No," She snapped.
"HEY! LEE! C'MON! WE'RE GOING OUT TO PLAY BASKETBALL!"
Leah screamed and ran downstairs quicker then Mike's brain could function.
He went out to the tennis court. The tennis nets were down and the basketball hoops were up on each side. Jess, Tre, Jason, Hayley, Courtney and Billie stood grinning. Hayley threw the basketball at Leah. She caught it and smirked. She bounced it over.
"Boys against girls?" She suggested.
"Sure, we'll kick your ass though," Said Tre with a smart ass tone.
"Oh yeah?" Asked Leah, "What makes you so sure?"
"Well," He grinned, "If you look, us boys are taller then you girls, and... boys are just better then girls."
"We MAY be shorter then you, but we're DEFINATELY better."
"And," Snapped Hayley, "Because of that smart arse remark, we 'short-ass-pathetic-little-girls' start off with the ball."
Leah pushed past Mike and Tre and bounced the ball towards her hoop. She jumped at the Three Quarter mark and the ball flew into the hoop.
"SWISH!" Shouted Leah.
Billie ran down to the end of the court and grabbed the ball. Mike, Tre and Jason spread out. Tre jumped around frantically, in an open space.
"Billie! Here!"
Billie threw the ball at him, Jess jumped infront of Tre and grabbed the ball. She passed it to Courtney. Mike stood infront of her, blocking out any chance of her passing or anything.
"Courts! Behind the head!" Shouted Hayley, Courtney threw the ball over her head, for it to land perfectly in Jason's hands. Jason, in complete surprise, smiled and ran towards his hoop. Leah tried to grab the ball, but Jason was too tall for her. He shot and got it in.
"SWISH!" He shouted in her face. Leah gritted her teeth and passed the ball to Jess, for her to throw it in. She did, it landed in Hayley's hands. She passed it to Courtney, who passed it to Leah. Leah made a run down the court, swerving around the boys. Billie ran next to her, trying to take the ball. Leah was chuckling and laughing the whole way down. She made it to a place where she thought she could make a good shot. Billie accidentally knocked her, making Leah fall flat on her ass. Tre ran past and grabbed the ball. He passed to Mike who made a perfect Slam Dunk.
"PENALTY!" Shouted Courtney, "YOU TRIPPED OUR BEST PLAYER!"
Leah stood up, "Yeah," She grinned, "I get one free shot, without you guys in my face."
"Oh shit," Mumbled Jason.
Everyone stood aside as Leah stood on the line, she bounced the ball three times and tossed it with amazing skill. It rolled around the rim of the hoop. Leah gasped. The boy's eyes widened.
"GO IN!" Pleaded Leah, "Come on!"
The ball dropped into the net, "YES!" The girls cheered.
"Damn it," Mumbled Billie. He snatched the ball off Leah and jogged down to his hoop, until he noticed Hayley running beside him, trying to grab the ball. Billie suddenly stopped and passed the ball half way across the court to Mike. Mike passed to Jason, who NEARLY lost the ball by Jess. He passed to Tre who threw it hard to the backboard of the hoop. It bounced off the backboard into Tre's hands, he tried again, and got it in.
"SWISH!" He jumped into the air, "Yeah! Go me! I got it in!"
He ran around the court slapping the boys high fives. He went to give Leah one, she lifted her hand, in good sportsman-ship, to give him a high five. Tre moved his hand.
"TOO SLOW! SUCK!" He cackled.
"Half time," Called Hayley as she brushed her black hair from her face. Jess swished her hair around and sighed. Leah, who looked more hyped up then ever, jumped on the spot.
"Alright guys," Mike whispered in a group huddle, "We're getting our ass kicked..."
"The scores even," Said Jason, "Tre and you both got points, so did Leah... twice!"
"Yeah, but... we can't keep this up, we suck!" Billie nodded in agreement.
"But... we're guys... we're not meant to suck at sports! They are," Protested Tre.
"I know, but c'mon, they're girls. But, we have to stop being so... nice. Treat them as though they were one of the boys. Don't not knock into them, smash them! This is the only time where you're actually allowed to be rough with them," Declared Mike.
"Well," Grinned Tre, "When you're in the bedroom you can be rough..."
"No sex jokes. Please," Moaned Billie.
"Alright, team! Let's go!"
They broke up from their huddle to find the girls lined up at the half way line.
"Who's in for the toss up?" Asked Leah, still holding the ball.
"Me," Said Mike, "'Cause I'm the tallest... and I'm taller then you."
"Only by a bit," Snapped Courtney, who was only slightly shorter then Leah.
"You're shorter then Billie Joe, so shut up," Snapped Tre. Courtney poked her tongue out.
"Alright," Leah stepped into the circle, Mike stepped up too.
"I'll throw it up," Said Tre. He took the ball off Leah and stood just outside the circle, "Now, I want a nice, clean, game between you two, alright?" He joked, Mike and Leah chuckled, "Do that thing where you knock fists, guys, make it look real," Grinned Tre. Leah held up both of her knuckles and knocked them with Mike's. Tre threw the ball high into the middle. Leah jumped, so did Mike. However, with Mike having a few inches on Leah's height, he knocked the ball out of Leah's reach and into Billie's arms. Billie grinned and ran back to his hoop.
"Billie! Billie here!" Shouted Jason, "C'mon! Hayley's behind you!"
Before Billie could even respond, Hayley ran past and stole the ball as he bounced it.
"Hey!" He shouted, as Hayley cackled and ran down the court.
Fifteen Minutes Later...
Jason was a panting heap on the floor. Leah ran circles around the boys, she was so fast and never lost her energy. Mike was hardly motivated enough to play and Billie had given up ages ago. Tre, however, was determined he would beat Leah. It was just one on one. And Leah was winning.
"Ok! Ok! I give up! You win," He mumbled.
"Thank you very much," Grinned Leah, "Hey! Who's up for Shoot-Out?!"
Everyone groaned and ran inside.
"Oh fine," She muttered, putting the ball away and slumping inside, "Losers."
Later that night, the party was going full ball. Music was blearing, people were filling the house and Courtney was losing her mind with worry.
"Don't touch that!" She shouted at someone, "It'll break! No! That was my grandmothers! Oh, God!"
Leah was laughing at her sister the whole time. Tre was spinnin' the tracks, every song he played everyone cheered for, and he absolutely loved throwing the confetti at people.
Jason and Hayley were making out somewhere in the house, as Jason worked up the courage to ask her out. Billie was trying to convince Courtney to shut up and enjoy the party and no one knew where Mike was.
"How am I meant to party when my main man isn't here?" Leah asked herself, she squirmed through the crowd, trying to look for him, Tre was having the time of his life, Leah could see that. She saw Billie and Courtney walking over to the drinks, and she saw Hayley and Jason sitting on the couch giggling.
"Hey..." She stepped up and whispered in Tre's ear, "Have you seen Mike?"
"MIKE!" Tre screamed over the pumping music, "HEY MIIIIIIIKE!"
He didn't emerge from the crowd.
"Man," She mumbled, "Where is he?" She walked around the house looking for him.
"Leah?"
She turned around and saw Courtney smiling at her.
"Oh, hey Courts. You haven't seen Mike around have you?"
"Last time I saw him he was in your bedroom getting CD's for Tre."
"Oh, ok thanks, sis. Have you stopped worrying about all the things breaking?" She grinned. They heard a smash, of what sounded like plates.
"SHIT!" Screamed Courtney, running down stairs to the kitchen.
"Obviously not," Chuckled Leah. She remembered her old diary. She gasped and ran into her room, "Mike you'd better not be reading my-"
Her room was empty. She looked around.
"Where the fuck are you, Mike?"
"Here," Replied a voice from the balcony.
Leah slipped past the white curtains and saw Mike looking out over the balcony.
"Mike, I was worried about you! How come your not down with the rest of us?"
"Meh," He shrugged, "I'm not really in the mood for a party, that's all babe. I kinda wanted to go down there." He pointed to the River Bank.
"Aw, Mike," She smiled and hugged him, "I promise I'll take you down there, ok?"
"Ok," He smiled, "C'mon, we'll go down to this party everyone's talking about."
Leah laughed, "Yeah, it's the party of the year, only cool people are invited."
"What are you doing here then?" Teased Mike.
She glared at him.
"Uh... because... you're hot, Leah."
She smiled, "Yeah... yeah I'm very hot."
Tre had given up on DJ-ing and let one of Leah's friends have a try. Tre was busying himself by getting drunk. Like Jason, Billie, Courtney and Hayley managed to do. Jess, however, stayed sober, and Mike hadn't had anything to drink and Leah never had a chance.
Jason swayed over to Tre, Tre was already tipsy and giggling like an embarrassed school girl.
"See that girl over there?" Slurred Jason, he pointed to Heidi, Leah and Courtney's cousin, "That's Alexia, go say hi to her, she's nice."
Heidi was the Evil Twin. The mean one. Tre stumbled and swayed over to Heidi and put his arm around her shoulder.
"Ha... ha... hallo, Alexia," He managed to say.
"I'm Heidi," Snapped a freaked out Heidi.
"Well... you're Alexia now, you've changed her name, ok?" He put his finger to her lips, "But don't tell anyone."
Heidi slapped Tre and stormed off. Tre heard laughter, he looked up and saw Leah having a good laugh at him. He smiled and waved nonchalantly.
Jess went up to him, "Tre, you're drunk, aren't you?"
"And you're beautiful, aren't you?" He grinned, "Hey, babe, let's dance."
"Tre, you can't dance! You're drunk! C'mon, come with me, we'll go sit down."
"No," He slurred, taking her hand and placing the other on her hip. He busted into a full tango, nearly splitting the room as he danced around, trying to tango. Jess giggled and laughed, she went along with it.
Tre stole a rose from a vase sitting on the couch, he placed it between his teeth and kept dancing.
"Oh... my... God," Mumbled Courtney, "He's making an idiot out of himself!"
"What's new?" Laughed Billie.
Tre stopped, and took a bow with Jess. Everyone clapped and cheered. Tre pulled the rose out of his mouth and gasped.
"Jessie! They like my dance so much they threw roses at me!"
He ran around the room singing, 'So many roses.' Which his a song he just made up.
"Jess, you'd better get that man in a straight jacket!" Called one of the girls friends.
"I know," Sighed Jess, chasing after him.
The Next Morning...
"Ugh..." Tre sat up and rubbed his head. He was lying in spilt beer and confetti was stuck all over him, and he had almost a pound of it in his pants. He was on the basketball court. Looking around, Tre rubbed his eyes and tried to get rid of that dry feeling in his mouth.
"It's so bright," He mumbled, walking inside.
"Good morning Poppin Fresh!" Smiled Leah, who was cheerfully standing in the kitchen.
"Leah, I'm gonna puke," Mumbled Tre.
She lead him over to the sink, Tre did it. Leah pat his back and laughed.
"You should have seen yourself last night, Tre, you were hilarious."
Tre heaved and made a horrible sound, which made Leah laugh a little more. Tre groaned and said, "A true friend doesn't laugh when their friend is puking their guts up!"
Leah pat his back again.
"Look," He mumbled, "I've puked up stuff I haven't even SEEN before!"
"Ew," Leah screwed up her face. She grabbed a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice and put it on a platter, which had even more orange juice on it.
"Here ya go, sweetie," She said, handing him a glass, "Drink this, it'll honestly make you feel better."
Tre smiled and took the drink, before cleaning the mess he'd made in the sink and going to brush his teeth.
Leah, being the 'nice, un-evil twin' *coughcough* she is, dropped a glass of orange juice off to Jason, Hayley, Jess (who'd slept on a mattress in Jason and Hayley's room, and had to listen to them go at it all night), Billie, Courtney and finally, Mike. She opened the bedroom door. Thankfully, Courtney and Billie ended up falling asleep in the study, so Leah didn't have to share her room, leaving her and Mike to do whatever they wanted... all night. She sat beside Mike on the bed. He was still sleeping with an adorable 'I'm so sick and hungover... cuddle me' expression.
Leah kissed his forehead. Mike opened his tired eyes.
"What?" He moaned.
"I bought you something," She smiled.
"A car?" He asked.
"Not until I get MY car," She laughed quietly, "No, this."
She handed him the glass, "It's about a million times better then an aspirin, trust me." She grinned, "I stole the oranges off the tree next door."
Mike swallowed it all in one go. Leah laughed layed next to him. He put his arms around her and Leah ran her finger around his bare chest.
"How are you feeling, anyway?" She asked.
"I've been better," He replied, with a soft sore voice.
"Sounds AND looks like it," She giggled, "I'm the only one, besides Jess, who isn't hungover. But little Jessie is awfully tired, and after what Jason and Hayley did last night, I'll predict they are too."
"You're not hungover? I'm proud of you," He said sarcastically.
"That's great," She smiled, kissing his lips softly, "Are you getting up or do I have to clean the house myself?"
"You know where the mop and bucket is," He mumbled, letting her go and rolling over.
"Some 'loving' boyfriend you are," She snapped, slapping his back playfully and standing up.
"Love you too baby," He grinned.
"I hope that orange juice makes you sick," She joked.
"Well if you made it, it probably will."
"Ooh, nice come back," She laughed, leaving him alone to sleep a while longer.
